Have you seen what Chandler Thompson looks like NOW? I know he's likely 54 by now but he got so fat there is NO way he has a 42 in. vertical leap.

He helped lead Muncie Central High School to their 8th state title & I was a sophomore there at the time & Ball State University is located here.

If they had a tournament for the greatest teams to lose in the NCAA's to a championship team, the 1990 BSU team would be the favorite. Had they made a commitment to Rick Majerus and the program back then, the Cards would have a program like Butler has now.

Not remotely close. Where should we start?

      Uh, no.
Think about what you just wrote.
Would Ball State have beaten 1985 Georgetown? Or 1984 Houston? Or 1983 Houston? Or any number of great teams that lost in the NCAA's?

Thanks for posting this one it brings back some great memories. We beat Oregon and Louisville Both in the last seconds of each game. Then this close one against UNLV. What a great run they had. I can still fondly remember rushing from the dorms in a "wild herd" to the riot in the village. WAtching the "village idiot" swing from the street light, lol.

LOL. I recall the stories. It was different than the riots of today.

His dunk over LaBradford Smith of Louisville in the second round that year was even better. I got to see them both in person, working for the Ball State Daily News. Hard to believe how close BSU came to beating the Rebels.

I was very fortunate to be at that game, that was a great college basketball doubleheader first game was Loyola Marymount vs. Alabama and then the game shown above. Ball State played Unlv it's toughest game of the tournament.

You're missing something. Did you follow the season? I stayed up late to watch every UNLV game and they won by 30-40 most nights. I might be off with the margin of victory, but nobody ever did a put back dunk on them all season long and that was the closest game UNLV had all season long. 4 minutes to go, that dunk get the cardinals hope and woke up Tark. That dunk was massive at that time. That little bit of momentum is all that is necessary during March Madness! And nothing is wrong with playing overseas. My cousin put Bill Self on the map and he played 13 years in Ukraine and Poland. Many scrubs make it to the NBA while the hoopers just hoop for a living.
