Years ago , I was in a crew installing groundwater treatment for a closed chemical plant. And the pigeons and their guano were thick😅. I subcontracted with the company to get rid of them . I found an old canal on the property full of turtles. Ez clean up.
Huh, 9mm is not quite the spectacle I was expecting (I thought we'd get much bigger feather bursts!), althought it does make sense - it's not like it's an artillery shell, exactly. What _did_ impress me is how silent this big girl is, she's even less noisy than your usual .25 caliber gear. Two things I really like about it are: A) the instant stopping power that poleaxes the sky rats - it's like the finger of Death personified flicking them dead B) the resistance to deviation caused by wind, which for you is a constant problem. On the other hand, though, there are issues: X) sustainability, since it takes much more pressure to push a pellet this heavy at an appreciable speed Y) overpenetration, as standard sheet metal used in farm structures and civilian construction is really not that hard to punch a hole into So as always, it's a game of tradeoffs. The kittens! The adorable hungry-for-pigeon kittens! 😍 Please tell me you've petted at least one off-screen, Alex, I just can't with them.
I did 😄 I did pet the black one and the the other wild-cat-looking one - they were too close to the gun and I had to gently remove them to avoid an accident. You're right about what you said about the gun. It is surprising quiet, courtesy of the Behemoth, and there was a pass through on every shot, hence the not so impressive spectacle. I gotta try shooting Hades at the sky rats. As for the air consumption, that was a pleasant surprise too - with the 470 cc bottle, at the current setting each shot consumes about 4-5 bar. Thanks, mate 🙂
@@AirRifleActivities I'm certainly down for trying out the Hades on it, if only to gauge the issue of overpenetration. Yep, totally only that. 😗🎶 That's impressively efficient, nice!
Great shooting as always!! It may have been due to the shorter range, but the heavier pellets seem to have a slightly flatter trajectory than the .22s. Have you ever considered contacting any of the pellet manufacturers to see if they could try different grades of lead/alloy mixtures, to make a 'softer' mix that could be used in the indoor areas with less worry about overpenetration or richochet? Thanks for another interesting vid!!
BTW-BTW, I wouldn't be too sure about the pellet manufacturers not listening to "guys like you." Dude, they MARKET to guys like you, and you are far above the "average shooter." The VERY professional reviews you do on new pieces of gear, the objective analysis you bring to all the issues of shooting...I think they WOULD listen to someone like you, if you presented a simple request, slightly softer alloy or whatever. It wouldn't bankrupt them to run off a few "test batches" of a different formula, and give it to you for what they can be assured would be an objective, informative review. 👍
In my experience, Corvid's recognise a rifle being raised and sense the danger, this will almost always spook them if you're too close. If you can conceal that movement then you can usually get closer as they dont recognise the threat and will remain where they are.
You're right to a certain extent. They're intelligent birds and how close you get to them depends on a number of factors, but usually concealment and/or distance are the leading factors for a successful shot. Well, there are also those cases where they fail to realise you're a threat 😉 But those are feral pigeons, buddy, not corvid species.
1. Are you doing this because it is hard work that someone needs to do? Or do you do it because you hate pigeons? 2. Can you describe the emotions you feel when killing pigeons? 3. How many pigeons do you kill on average in 1 session at the factory? 4. Do you eat garlic, and how often and in what quantities? (as a parasite prevention) Thanks.
Nice shooting though think with the cost of 9mm works out an expensive way to control the rats, I will stick with the 22 and JSB ko slugs. Best wishes Buddy Mike

X) sustainability, since it takes much more pressure to push a pellet this heavy at an appreciable speed
Y) overpenetration, as standard sheet metal used in farm structures and civilian construction is really not that hard to punch a hole into
So as always, it's a game of tradeoffs.
That's impressively efficient, nice!
@@DinnerForkTongue thanks, buddy 🙂
Great shooting as always!! It may have been due to the shorter range, but the heavier pellets seem to have a slightly flatter trajectory than the .22s. Have you ever considered contacting any of the pellet manufacturers to see if they could try different grades of lead/alloy mixtures, to make a 'softer' mix that could be used in the indoor areas with less worry about overpenetration or richochet? Thanks for another interesting vid!!
I thank you, David 😊 Manufacturers would hardly pay any attention to a guy like me, I'm afraid 😉
@@AirRifleActivities BTW, thanks for including my silly post on your intro collage'.
@@davidschmidt6013 you're right, Dave, and they listen to some shooters they choose to. Usually the so called "big guys" on social media 😉
That Cannon does a sure job on the sky rats as long as they are dead who cares about the fire power 👍👍👍
😄 True story. Thanks, mate 👍
Great video, good content ! Awesome rifle 👍🏼
Thanks, buddy, I think it's a great gun too, credit to Edgun 🙂
In my experience, Corvid's recognise a rifle being raised and sense the danger, this will almost always spook them if you're too close. If you can conceal that movement then you can usually get closer as they dont recognise the threat and will remain where they are.
You're right to a certain extent. They're intelligent birds and how close you get to them depends on a number of factors, but usually concealment and/or distance are the leading factors for a successful shot. Well, there are also those cases where they fail to realise you're a threat 😉 But those are feral pigeons, buddy, not corvid species.
That's valid advice for magpies. Pigeons are purely proximity-triggered, though; they're _nowhere near_ as sharp minded as corvids.
@@DinnerForkTongue spot on, bud. You can't compare the two. Pigeons are way dumber.
Excellent video, could you spend a day taking out sky rats please
Thanks, buddy 🙂 Not at that place I can't - as soon as they open for business we must stop.
Hello.
Tell me please.
Are you ready to shoot cats, as well as pigeons?
If they become a problem at this factory.
Thanks.
I answer straight away - no, I am not. They are off limits on Europe, they are indigenous species here, plus I do not want to shoot them.
Thanks.
Can i ask another question?
@@unknown_user516 certainly, go ahead, I hope I can answer it.
(as a parasite prevention)
Thanks.
If you do not want to answer 1 or all of the questions, you can refuse to answer. I will understand you
Hi. Where do i get a scope camera that you have
Here's a link, mate: orioniguanahunter.com/products/orioncam
What feet per second can you get her up to in 9mm if you wanted.
Haven't pushed it to its limits, buddy, but I think I can squeeze out another 40 or 50 fps with the 81 grainers.
Like the sound when hit the ground.
So satisfying 🙂
The kittens are so cute 🥹
They steal the show 😄
Let’s see some woodchucks and raccoons next !
I don’t think they have either of those in Europe.
@@kenpickett9317 you're absolutely right 🙂
Thanks for watching, you boys 🤝
Nice shooting though think with the cost of 9mm works out an expensive way to control the rats, I will stick with the 22 and JSB ko slugs.
Best wishes Buddy
Mike
You're right, Mike, I don't intend to shoot 9 mm at the winged menace all the time 🙂 I'm hoping to be able to put the gun to use on something bigger. Thanks, mate 🤝
Very nice video, Alex. The 9mm does the damage to the sky rats for sure. Keep up the great videos, and I hope to see another soon. Cheers from Texas.
Hey, Dave 🙂 Another one coming soon, thank you for watching 🙂🤝
Also, the small red faced birds are European Goldfinch's
Thanks, buddy, everyone tells me so, I learned sth from you 🙂👍
