Was wondering if this Pete Hames, excuse me if I miss Spelled last name. What a view, that mi. don't seem so big at that speed. My favorite bike. Attended many in the midwest , 67- 76 then in Pa.late 90's- 2010. Thanks for a real flattrack video. Not high banked Sprint car track, & No mufflers !!!!!!
I was at the Sacramento Mile at the old fairgrounds in the 1960s. Harley 750 flat heads, Triumph and BSA 500 twin overheads and BSA 500 Single overheads.
The Flathead versions where the k models the xr750 didn't come out until around 1970 and the person still had iron cylinders and then they come out with a twin carburetor version that they're still racing today and still winning races today
That XR750 just ate everyone else for lunch! Loved watching this, as my race number (still on my ol' Trackmaster Triumph 750) is 32! Identical number plates, even if mine didn't go quite as quickly as this!
I loved the first 6 minutes of the view just setting on a motorcycle. Then just when I didn't think it could get any better, a guy got off and started pushing his motorcycle! The excitement was overwhelming!! Just in case you missed it 4:50. It's even more dramatic when you slow down the speed, it looks like he's in slow motion.
The TZ 750 that Kenny Roberts rode wouldn't run with them boat anchors it would run through them just like the RS 750 Hondas that Graham and Shobert kicked their ass on every year. Them Harley's wouldn't pull a hat off of your head.
@@robr5786 AMA banned TZ750 after Roberts said I don't get paid enough to ride it. That statement helped convince the AMA that this bike being a screamer large displacement multi cylinder 2 stroke was unsuitable for competition. I think they really meant that it would eventually kill somebody.😢
Anyone know why he started last? I'm guessing he made some changes after qualifying? Or was this a just luck of the draw race and he drew the shortest straw? When you are that much faster than everyone else and start on the last row, somethings going on?
Won't be really cool if there's a way when you come out of turn two ... Point the camera into turn three that's all you have to do and it'll be really neat if it had a automatic inside on the camera after you look at three then lock it in on that particular level and the camera do the rest.... I seen as having so many times the writer must be setting his camera up when he's standing straight up and then when he's leaned over on the bike that's why you see the front tire all the time...
how many old Triumphs were running there? might want to try using a chin mount and tilting the camera up or maybe putting it on your handlebars so you can actually see ahead of you on film
but a 883 and build it up so it actually makes power. they sell kits to do the heads that both the exhaust ports come out of the front of the head and on the same side, and big cams and everything.. Street trackers are a big thing.
@@oneofmany1087 There was a series called "Mars" for Motorcycle asphalt racing series. It only went a couple of seasons. The Japanese had a asphalt oval flat track too, they might even still be doing it, but it was boring as hell with mostly 750 Honda's & the most twisted up pair of handlebars ever created. The Mars series wasn't bad, they were puttin' some lap times down, I'm not sure why they quit.
Those Harley engines make 120hp from just 750 cc and weigh in at just over 300 lbs and top out on the mile at 140 mph . .the only thing that will beat them today is the FTR750 Indian and they do it by laping the entire field of every brand in a 25 lap. And Harley's never inhabit of laying down horsepower numbers and top speeds in their advertising but they claim without a doubt that the new 1250 CC Pan American makes 150 horsepower and has a top speed of over 135 mph not bad for a dirt bike... I know one thing for sure that the Honda Africa twin don't have a chance against that Harley cuz I just trade it off an African twin for that reason and bought a xr1200 2009 and it has on dirt roads just like his bike you're watching on the track and African twim won't do that without trying to crash go ride when I see
And please pardon my stupid looking English content but I can't make this phone do anything else but f****** and that's what it prints after I correct it and won't let me correct the second or third time it's infested with artificial intelligence and refuses to do what I tell it to do

I got to ride my XS 750 Trackmaster @ the Sac Amateur Mile in 2019 vintage and over 60 classes, , way too much fun!
Wow. I used to dream this. Forget the people commenting on the quality of the video; I cranked up the sound and went along for the ride.

Excellent video! I haven't seen a good 11 minute front tire movie in a while!
Love you 👍🇩🇰

Excellent view of the front tire.
Great video, Man!! Loved that you had the stones to blast past those wusses out for a Sunday drive!!!
I strained my neck trying to see anything but the front wheel lol. Great ride.
Me too, trying to look ahead. The way I rode.
Makes me miss my Bultaco Astro......Good times.....
Yeah me too I had a Bulltaco 250 and a 360 Astro

Very cool this connection that the world of two wheels can provide. 🙏🏿😍
I do love that XR sound-
that bike handles awesome great power really nice setup you guys have
Now I know why you started in the back your blew away the competition 👍
Dam man watching this made my groin hurt like the old days. Great vid, excellent race on a well sorted XR, clearly not your first rodeo!
Hey, while we're still young!!! Guess they were at Walmart shopping for a Flagman. I've never seen a flat track unicycle before LMAO
Only thing that would run with the H-D in those days was the Yamaha tz750 that King Kenny Roberts said they didn't pay him enough to ride.

Saw and heard that H-D XR750 and knew it was about to get killer and it did. Sweet
That front tire looked brand new. I could even see No. 32 on the front plate on the straightaways.
Video Starts At 6:25.
All I wanted to see was a Harley up front thank you the good old days
HD 750, starts at the back and passes everyone, excellent
From what little I was able to see, that dude blew everyone off the track
I believe that Rider is #32 Shawn Baer who has had that National # 32 going back to 2006 up to 2020

I raced in California from 1974-1980….90mph in the turns about 135mph in the straights
Nice video but wish the camera was not pointed at the ground.
Thanks , Mike
Nobody should dress in the Yamaha black and yellow scheme unless they're riding on a TZ750 engine. What a monster.
Nice view of the front wheel...
Either hd xr 750 or yamaha xs 650....the two were mortal enemies!!!!! Lol

Name of the roder?
I watched this couple times good vid
Makin that Harley do work💯🤘
nice view of the triple clamp.
If we don't have by now, it's gotta be on the way, and that is a remotely controlled servo system to aim that camera.

Where you not feeling a tad 'odd',, mon ami, outclassing everyone...due you your mounts superior engine size and hp ?
Where did you get that front tyre.
Nice Yamaha XS650 tracker at 02:13
I want an XR750 Harley Davidson Flat Tracker to drive on the streets and hills of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Get an XSR900 , you'll be happier.
That would be rad
Just ask Mert...he lives in the area.
Who is the rider ?
How did yeah get on anyway
Couldn't tell. Any Beezumphs there?
Charley Roberts??
Moral of the story, if you wanna do well in vintage twins get you an XR750.
How would Flat Track Mile racing change if they were racing on asphalt instead of dirt?
it would be road racing not dirt track -Flattrack
