Yeah it does, I have other videos that show how to replace them. Potentiometer is a short term fix or for folks that may not have the tools required to replace the caps.
Truth be told, I didn't have a switch on hand and most systems I refurb I sell without them anyway, but let folks know that it has been switched to NTSC.
@@totalfix877 I wish someone could make new bottom labels for these with the US text as once this conversion is done exactly how you did it there is no other difference between it and a US one besides the sticker in Japanese underneath with the model number on it stating JPN instead of USA
How would you install the switch because I'm looking to have a dual language so I can play both import and eng with minimal effort instead of pulling it apar everytime?
Is the disc drive region free? I have a broken disc drive on my USA GameCube and I wanted to take a working disc drive assembly from a Japanese GameCube to replace it. Will it work?
I recently tried this and the pads on the board complete disapeared. Is there another place where I can jump it? I can find no schematic for the GC anywhere.
theres a better way to mod a jp game cube to ntsc it just one wire to ground it bypasses the jp region jumped so u get both regions on a switch used this to mod a lot of penasonic game cubes mod works for ntsc bit u need to swap it to jp via jumpers then do the ntsc single wire mod
@@ChrisLee1353-c6e more soldering and wire then needed simple move jumper to jp then do single wire mod and it switch comin lead needs to be connected to any ground saves space and super clean
I’m praying for your healing and recovery! Please don’t give up!
Thanks for another great video. I have a orange Japanese system i want to change over. Also interested in a video on how to add the region switch.
that other disc drive most likely just needs new caps installed ive found that tends to fix them up instead of people messing with the Potentiometer.

Why didn't ya install a switch instead of just swapping the resistor? Nice video btw, GCN modding is certainly interesting ^ ^

Can you play japanese games after the mod? Like both regions are playable?
Just bought a jp GameCube, I'm swapping it to ntsc tonight
How'd it go?
I recently tried to region mod a jp Gamecube Dol-101 and it didn't work for me 😢
I would guess the european version is on R39 isn't it ?
But since the change can you play Japanese games on system or do you need something else

Yes this will work 😀
hi, does this mod also work for playing PAL games?
What do I do if I want it to read PAL games??

Dude thank you, I want to add one that has all 3
I bought a cub modded but I still don't understand the Japanese words so how do I change it to English
You can’t change it from the software or menu, you would have to modify the console internally unfortunately 😢
Does it also work with american gamecube?
Does this work on US consoles too?
Does this work with PAL region gamecubes to switch them to the Americas region, do you think?
I think works too
Nice!
😮
