I have been on both sides (client & freelancer) of Upwork and Fiverr and I totally agree with this comparison. I, however, usually offer packaged services because I am not charging based on the amount of time I spend working on a client's job but the value I am bringing into the business.
As a fellow freelancer, I'm all for the Package route. It make so much more sense and as you said; it's about the value being delivered not how long the project might take. Thanks for watching and your insights!
Regarding complex and long term projects on Fiverr, I offer my screencasting services on Fiverr and have long terms clients (4 + years) and complex projects that have consisted of 30+ videos. So not all of 'us' are rinse/repeat-ers. Great video. Thanks.
Well done on a good comparison between the two platforms. I think you are spot on from the client side. Would love to hear it from a freelancer side also.
🙏 Thank you! The other side would be pretty informative.... It's been over 5 years since I worked on either one though - but it would be fun to go back. Thanks for the suggestion
the hourly warning work for a lot of fields but not all of them. my work web development doesn't do well with hourly since essentially it means you get paid less the better you get because of the drastic time difference something takes when worked on by 2 people with different experience level.
@@JasonAWhaling yeah i don't think hourly is fair unless it's maintenance or troubleshooting. the type of jobs that can't be realistically preestimated. also i heard about upwork taking screenshots of your computer every 10 minutes when working hourly and i don't really feel comfortable with such invasion of privacy.
The verification process is pretty minimal and unless you working with someone in the same country and you have their personal contact information it's next to impossible to enforce an NDA.... Just keep that in mind when you consider how "confidential" the information is.
I’ve been looking for a video like this thanks! So if I’m looking for an inexpensive video editor and social media poster, then the ideal action would be to post a job on Upwork then is that right?
Many proofreaders, ghostwriters, editors, etc. will charge per word as opposed to per hour. It gives both parties a cemented price and leaves the little knicks and kinks of the agreement to a set deadline.
New to this, your review looks like you're a client not a freelancer. If you were a web developer freelancer, which one would you choose? Which price would you put?
Thank you for this. I'm looking to have a lead list supplied in a spreadsheet of the top 50 companies of a certain business in my State, to include details such as marketing manager, email etc. Which one would be best for me please?
@@JasonAWhaling totally not true, posting a job on Fiverr takes about a minute vs on upwork it's a much more comprehensive brief and takes some time to get right.
Comment below with your Upwork vs. Fiverr questions!
Anyone have upwork client account
It's a lot easier to get your own account as a client than it is as a Freelancer

Glad you've been able to break the mold and keep some clients long term!

As a client, Upwork is really confusing for me.
It takes some getting used to....
@@JasonAWhaling Thanks for still replying to my comment on this 2 yo video.

Good point! I had the same sentiment when I was hourly as a freelancer.

Thank you Jason for the detailed explanation. I really learn a lot from your videos :)

Upwork sellers are verified for identity. So for any confidential work upwork.

Thx have had similar experience. Good to hear another perspective.
🙌 Awesome!

Sorry that's not my expertise as I'm not a developer... I would recommend that you try both

Go to upwork for that as you need someone who isn't just going to use a tool or generic list
Quite helpful, kudos 😎

Very helpful! Thanks
Happy to help! Good luck with your outsourcing
You could also post a job on Fiverr
That defeats the purpose of Fiverr. At that point your doing the same amount of work as going with Upwork
@@JasonAWhaling totally not true, posting a job on Fiverr takes about a minute vs on upwork it's a much more comprehensive brief and takes some time to get right.
This is awesome thank you.

You could ask fiverr to deposit your refund to your account, been there done that.
Glad you got a real full refund on that!
Great info🙏
Awesome! Happy Hiring
Thanks!
Hope this helps with which one to use for your next project. Thanks for watching
Guys, I am completely new here...
Can someone explain me what "gigs" mean?
"Gigs" are just what they call the services on Fiverr. So when you click on a services page, that's a "Gig"
Great info
