There is something just so haunting and compelling about this vid.
I keep coming back to it every so often....
I hope she didn't get sick in that downpour. What a sacrifice.
And it pains me to always see how the sweetest most amazing brilliant stuff is so little known and appreciated.
I'm glad I've just found out about these beautifully talented and esthetically pleasing girls.
Just beautiful. One of the prettiest songs I've ever heard! I love this arrangement of Eaglesmith's classic. I only wish it was available for downloading, along with Belle Starr's cover of Jolene. I hope to hear more from this group!

Nice cover of a brilliant Fred Eaglesmith song.
From a small station out of Knoxville Tn as I was heading east on I-40 in a 18 wheeler and it was a song that became one of my favorites of all time.
Timothy Milhomme - Via WDVX Radio?

Nice work Kendal! Love ya.
At the Chelsea Hotel! That took me back
@LiveFromDetroit In the description it says that the song was written by Fred J. Eaglesmith, so i guess Belle Starr covered this song from his orignal. I completely agree, it is a beautiful song.
Kendel in the rain -yipers!!!
'Summerlea' was the name of the homestead where Tommy Lee Jones' character was buried in the "Lonesome Dove" series - wonder if there's any connection??? - either way this tune should be NUMBER ONE on the charts...
@laneperson AGREED! I've been looking since the first time I heard this. I can't remember where I heard it, but I had enough sense to write the name down when I did.
I Love your Voice Sweetie All you are Powerful Singers Keep up the Great Work I want to hear More from you the Brunette I want to hear a song from her😘😘😘
Hauntingly beautiful...is this a Fred Eaglesmith song or did he cover it too.
@bradfordstor its not really bout the sound, although she does have a very nice voice actually, but its about the emotion of this song and how she puts that emotion into her voice. to me, you can really hear the broken and intense kind of love that this song is about through her voice and thats what makes her a pretty damn good country singer.
great song. has it been released anywhere?
this is dedicated to my boyrfriend althought he has a phone and loves me just as much as his horse
It's belle Starr from tenney grant
A question for anyone who understands music better than I do (which is to say, pretty much anyone reading this):
Is the chord progression in this song anything at all similar to that in Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" -- or is it at least being played in the same key?
Thanks in advance for any info.
Cheers
Great song and video. I miss kendel playing her full of life fiddle, though.
When i saw a model looking chick standing in the city i assumed this was a different "summerlea" than Fred Eaglesmith's. glad curiousity made me click anyway cause obviously i was wrong lol. Not a bad cover.
Mazzy's cousin from the country?
pretty girls singing sad songs gets to me.
@SteelToedTank haha you just responded to yourself again
you watched it at my place last sunday
something about the way she says "tobacco" makes my lip quiver and my lungs twitch.
I thought I recognized that balcony railing...
Fabulous.. really great. Unfortunate name Belle Star.. Could be confused with the long since defunct UK outfit The Belle Stars.. Otherwise Head and Shoulders above so much right now. 10 out of 10 in my book
I wonder if she (and The Belle Stars) chose their name after the outlaw Belle Starr, who rode with Jesse James and Cole Younger and was shot and killed in 1889. Saturday will be the 129th anniversary of her death.
There have been a couple of ballads written about Belle Starr, one by Woody Guthrie.
So dramatic!!
I love their version of the song, but I do find the choice of a large city as a location for the video a strange choice. Doesn't sem to fit the song very well.
He only gets into town twice a month...
Shes not popular enough. Just sayin'.
So beautiful.
