You're having the same weather we're having, except it is our Winter rains and wind in California. The place my gal rents for work was out of power for a couple days earlier in the week. The Norden is running well right out of the gate. 👍 You'll fit the Mosko Moto panniers, those are nice gear!
Hey Pinkie, this Solar Cycle is impacting all of us as it does every 11--12 years. It’s not pleasant riding in these conditions. 901 is going great I really appreciated the extended fuel range over the AT this trip.
@@BigBikeAdventures speaking of fuel range, my first trip from Morro Bay to Eureka which is a bit over 500 miles I “ran out of gas” on the 890. But I’d only done about 155 miles on that fill, which had been my longest at that time. I pushed the bike about a quarter mile to an exit and a young guy helped me get some gas. Come to find out that when they did the set up they had one of the valves turned off. I opened it and can get around 200 miles per tank now. But… there is always a but… 😂 I had it in for a service and the mechanic turned the valve so I “ran out of gas” at that 155 mile mark again. Luckily I was carrying a MSR fuel bottle and made it to a gas station. So, watch those bike mechanics if you have them service the bike. 😂
@@BigBikeAdventures It took me by surprise. I had to look into posting on the saddle style tanks. The fuel gage doesn’t register until it gets to 1/2 tank, that took some getting used to as well. I just stick to setting my trip meter and go off my miles since fuel up.
@@BigBikeAdventures I did a run down to Canberra a month or so ago and sadly, found I needed a bit more in the touring ability (which I predominantly do). The X is a known quantity for me and a Honda…
Loving this series. I’m this close to buying the standard 901. But the exhaust heat from that cat is a real sticking point for me 🥵. I’m over here in W.A and took one for a test ride on a low 30’s day and couldn’t believe the heat! I can’t wait for you to install the link pipe and see what diff it makes. Thank for the review, love an Aussie perspective. 👍✅🙏
Thanks mate. Link pipe will be in the next couple of weeks. BBQ ankles might be a good thing in the Northern Hemisphere, but I’m not a fan of it in our summers.
Love the videos and the Expedition is on my short list, so very helpful to see it out in the real world! I think the factory optioned panniers need redesigning on the next year model! Only drawback I can see
Nice to see you out enjoying the Norden, Steve. Interested in your thoughts on the heat from the cat converter - after 1000kms with the carbon fibre cat heat shield installed on my '23 890 Adventure, the reduction of heat on my legs is very minimal. Perhaps it's helping preserve/ protect the rear shock, but living here in the Brisbane heat/ humidity, I'm disappointed there isn't more heat reduction for the rider from the shield. A cat delete is now looking more and more likely as time goes by...
Thanks mate. Appreciate the feedback on the heat shield, I was going to get one. I’ll let you know how this cat delete pipe goes, apparently it makes the stock pipe pretty loud. I don’t mine a bit of note and Aural HP as long as it’s not obnoxious loud. I’ll do work in the next couple of weeks and report.
Yes, the noise created by deleting the cat was one of the reasons I wanted the shield to significantly reduce the heat and keep the cat installed. I use ear plugs in the helmet, maybe I'll get used to the extra decibels! @@BigBikeAdventures
Arrr. Not every ride is perfect. As the song says “some days are diamonds and some days are stone (crap). This is the realist of riding Aus in summer. Looking forward to more comments about the Norden experience.
As an expat QLDer I really don’t miss riding in a sauna. The devil on my shoulder told me to write HAHA SUCKED IN but since I no longer listen to him I’ll refrain.
Thanks. 🙏 Bike came from the dealer with Pirelli Rally on the front and Mitas E10 on the rear. The Pirelli is my go to front but I’ll change the rear to a Motoz Tractionator Adventure when the E10 is smoked. There will be a video about it, stay tuned
Thanks for the entertainment great work 👍

@pinkiewerewolf I’ll be keeping an eye on that. I had to go look to see there were two taps on the tanks. That’s handy info. 😂😂😂

@@pinkiewerewolf yeah, I always rest after fuelling. And even use Trip 1&2 on long rides.
Enjoyed your vid. A great "shakedown" series to iron out a few bugs in a beautiful part of the world. Looking forward to future productions...
Thanks mate. How’s that 390 going?

Agreed. I’ll be changing the luggage racks as soon as they are in stock.
No-one wants to camp in steady, heavy rain - good call, but you managed to fit in some epic local roads before and after!
For sure CC, it was a great ride. I’m very happy to credit card camping most of the time. 🤣🤣
That's a new one...."Air Anxiety "😂
It’s a real thing. 😂😂
