Dude this album took Micheal Jackson off the #1 spot in the charts and flipped mainstream music upside down overnight
Yes. Before "Nevermind" the "Alternative Music Section" was between Less than half a row ... and two rows of a music carousel. ... ... after Nevermind, Alternative got its own shelf, then it's own carousels.
God I love this so much. I wish I experienced this irl.
right, and it killd Hair Metal. This sceen from the Movie "the wrestler" sums it up quiet nicely: ruclips.net/video/61-GFxjTyV0/видео.html
Nirvana is just better..
@@elsroblox6467 i can't listen to pop music anymore after nirvana. and that was 1991.
You nearly killed me when you asked the question if this was a hit album! This was the number one album of the entire decade of the ‘90’s!
Tbf id say top five of all time. My personal number 1 but this album changed music forever
@@TylerRead12 That's not "tbf," that's just making the point even stronger! 😂
It wasn’t even in the Top 10 if you’re talking about sales.
@@ChiBoomptyyeah but look what was 😂
The final song, "Endless, Nameless" was a "hidden song". It's not listed on the album and after "Something in the Way", there would be silence for around 10 minutes until it came in with a glorious explosion of noise. It was done as a joke on the listener. The CD would play and the listener would think it was over but not turn off the CD player, and turn on the TV or go fix a snack, or whatever, and then 10 minutes later, BOOM!!!!! It legit scared the crap out of me the first time I listened to the album 😂
haha i wish i would have been able to expierence that my self
sound like Orange Channel by Frank Ocean too man
@@repl1cant1102 which song on orange channel
@@4EverFamGaming The last one on the CD, after “End”. Its not listed on the album too.
Its not in the cd
Endless Nameless is a hidden track that comes on after about 10 minutes of silence after the last track. First time listening to Nevermind, I just let it play thinking it was over. And that track came on and scared the §#!ț outta me.
I used to put this album on every night before bed. ... u would "Almost be asleep" ... Endless, Nameless ... isn't exactly a "subtle" song
Me too😂 I was like 12 had my first CD player and was dreaming away on something in the way.. then like 10min silence. And jumped out of my chair.
Not every copy had that hidden track. The CD I bought didn't have it.
endless nameless is one of my favourites ngl
It wasnt somehow available on every CD at the time
12:15 On A Plain is so underrated. It's one of my favorite songs off Nevermind.
The last song was added so Kurt could break everything on stage. 😂 It sounds like he is breaking everything in the studio 😆
Well if we break all our instruments, we can go home ... no encore.
Without Endless, Nameless ... the fans would never have let them off stage without playing -AT LEAST- an eight hour set!!
They were already doing improvised destruction to end their shows but the inclusion of Endless Nameless somewhat codified the structure of that part of the show. It was an outtake that emerged from the sessions for Lithium when Kurt got really frustrated (and he did in fact break just about everything during recording too lol)
You can hear Kurt smash his guitar at the end of the song
he was actually breaking his guitar
The last song was not added so he could break anything. It was recorded during Kurt's meltdown of frustration attempting to get "Lithium" right. But Dave kept going too fast so Butch Vig made him use a click track. Which is a huge bruise to a drummers ego. Krist was actually quoted as saying that seeing that rage scared him. If ya don't know, now ya know.
Endless, Nameless is a hidden bonus track to the album. Not every album that was released had it originally. I still have a version without it, so to me the album ends on Something in the Way.
Endless, Nameless is just an experimental jam sesh to break every instrument on stage so they wouldn’t have to do any encores lol. I mean, they did that on whatever the set ender was. But that’s essentially what Endless, Nameless is.
I always wondered if they recorded it in studio and smashed everything or was it live on a stage and smashed? It just seems like too much chaos for it not to be lol
@@fenderfox5080 Kurt smashed his guitar in the studio when they recorded it. Thats what you hear at the end
@@jakeellman7447 nice, I guess I never really knew but always wondered
endless nameless the last "hidden song" in the album was recorded after various attempts at recording "lithium" Kurt was fed up with an instrument malfunction and randomly started playing "endless nameless" recorded once and never again, it was a true look into Kurt's angry side. Butch vig, the producer said it was truly unsettling and terrifying watching Kurt get to that point. At the end of the track you hear all sorts of crazy noises, that's Kurt smashing the absolute shit out of his guitar and amps while christ and Dave try to keep up with the madness. That was the last song they recorded that day because half the instruments were destroyed by Kurt.
I have a copy of the Nevermind CD with Endless, Nameless on it
You should listen to YOU KNOW YOU'RE RIGHT - it's the last official "new" Nirvana song ever released, and it was released YEARS after Kurt's death. It's a great song, but also sad to listen to, because you hear in that great last song how much potential the band still had.
Definitely. It's difficult to listen to though, knowing what Kurt was going through at that point. You can really hear the pain in his voice in it.
@@jakeferreira1211 yall should listen to the original demo of it, even more raw and emotional
I love that song so much. It’s a contender for nirvanas best song. Sadly I overplayed it and don’t listen to it anymore
Nirvana was huuuggeee. I remember hearing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" for the first time, blasting out of someone's car and I absolutely had to know who it was.. decided to listen to the radio hoping I'd hear "that song" again, did not take long! When my then boyfriend introduced me to his friends, a couple weeks later, one of them was playing it on his guitar... so many memories atatched to this band. Another band that was really big in the nineties.. not as big as Nirvana, but big.. was the Cranberries. There was so much variety back then on the radio. I would love for you to check out The Cranberries album "No Need to Argue".... totally different than NIrvana, way more chill.. every song a gem, imo.
that is dope dude
I kinda knew you’d like “On a Plain” for some reason :) it’s one of my favorites off this album:)
You've got to listen to Nirvana Unplugged! It's amazing and I truly believe you'll be awestruck. Shout out from Ontario, CANADA🇨🇦
So wonderful seeing younger generations listening to this amazing music. You’re absolutely right, they don’t make music like this anymore. It’s sad. Great reaction 🙋🏻♀️👍🏼👏🏼👌🏼💜🇨🇦
Was Nevermind a hit? Yes, yes it was. It has sold over 10 million copies in the US and 30 million worldwide. It reached #1 on the US charts as well as in Canada, France, Belgium, Ireland and Sweden, as well as #7 in the UK, #2 in Australia, #3 in Germany, #3 in Denmark, etc. And even more impressive, it has spent over 520 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 album charts. Only 7 albums previously had accomplished that feat.
This album also represents a sea change in popular music and culture that can clearly be delineated as before "Nevermind", and after "Nevermind"
Something in the way, was about time Cobain spent being homeless, living under the bridge, if i am not wrong.
I love that you found this album. Your reactions to this are priceless... especially the Batman part to Something In the Way. 10/10 for sure bro.
Jojo, keep doing full albums man, this was great! If you like this, youll like a lot of other 90s albums!
The first Nirvana album was Bleach, which I recommend checking out
I remember the day Kurt died... You're listening to an album that changed the industry for years and defined a generation.
Its a fantastic album and to this day i just get depressed that Kurts gone and that we didnt ever get more nirvana, never really particularly liked foo fighters just been glad that dave and pat are still making music together. Krists side project bands are a little weird though.
Man. I love this entire album. I remember having this on cassette when it came out and I would listen to the entire tape and after endless nameless would end, I'd flip the tape and start over with Smells like teen spirit. Soooooo good!
something in the way was written about a moment when Kurt was homeless or ran away from home living under a bridge if I'm not mistaken....and after that, no it's not a song. You have to understand that Kurt enjoyed getting on peoples nerves, it was a hidden track.
bro was absolutley flabbergasted at Endless, nameless
Use to listen to this in my car on a cassette tape back in the day. Glad to see the youth of today still enjoying it!
Endless Nameless really needs to be seen as well as heard. Look for one of their live versions. They play baseball with their guitars.
"Was this a hit record"? Lol!! Yes. It's not only one of the best records ever recorded but also one of the most important.
Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, STP, Nirvana. These guys had such a knack for sequencing their records. They alll have records where my favorite tune is the last song on the record.
They also all had albums that were great from start to end.
Fuck pearl jam
STP is so underrated
Rolling stone named the 500 greatest albums of all time and this is #6, It's also a diamond record in North America selling over 11 million copies. That's 11 x Platinum. You just listened to music history homie.
Nevermind is and will always be one of the best albums ever recorded I was 16 when the album came out and it just blew our minds. R.I.P Kurt
Something in the Way was a song to express the loneliness and desperateness of being homeless. IMO it was a song that accurately depicted how destitute you can feel at rock bottom while also trying to hold on to your own humanity.
It also expressed a kind of Moral Ambiguity, where he had convinced himself of Something, but there was Something in the Way, so he hadn't Entirely convinced himself.
Like 'It's okay to Eat Fish coz they Don't have Any Feelings' or 'The Animals I've trapped have All Become my Pets'.
Nevermind was one of the best albums of the 90s.
*Nevermind IS one of the best albums of ALL TIME!
*fixed it for you.😉👍
@@rich_t No it wasn't, don't consider your opinions the collective opinion because honestly they wasn't even the best band to come out of Washington and I emphasize Washington because they WERE NOT a Seattle band, they were from Aberdeen. They played some shows in Seattle, but they were not from there and was never considered a Seattle band. As someone who lived in Bremerton and than Seattle during this period Nirvana was not a member of the community or beloved by everyone. They were a MTV media sell out.
@rachet070 shut up, go home.
@@rachet0708 stfu they are the opposite of a sell out band. Go troll somewhere else bitch

Big regard Bro
Your face during the "hidden song" was priceless! 🤣
Kid, you're a doll. I adore how much you appreciate music and I really think you should listen to Dire Straits-try Money for Nothing, Tunnel of Love, and/or Sultans of Swing.
react last song Endless Nameless live show that you understand why she is like this chaos. they only managed to play it "live" in full two times the others were...
I recommend : endless nameless live and loud MTV 1993
and live at the paramount 1991
Endless Nameless was a hidden track on the CD. There's a couple minutes of silence before it actually kicks in. When I was 16 and this first came out I didn't appreciate it for what it was, but now in my late 40's I think it's genius. 10/10 is the only score to give this album, I'm happy to hear you feel the same. 🤗
"Something In The Way" appeared on The Batman. "Teen Spirit", is everywhere. ... ... then there is Lithium, Drain You, Polly ... Endless, Nameless. ... ... there is nothing "Uncool" about NEVERMIND.
Back in the day CDs had extra space at the end. Bands used to put 3 min of silence, then a weird secret track. Don't judge it to harshly. That was just a little bonus. The album was already over at that point
Don't know if the reasoning is correct on the bonus tracks LOL but Korn did a few times and even put in a bogus 13 track start to Follow the Leader I believe ( or it was Issues... I didn't keep the dead space when I ripped the cd to my computer LOL).
@@purplebeard1526Nine Inch Nails had 94 bonus tracks on Broken, but only tracks 98 and 99 had songs on them.
@@thugmastaj1144 feels like you got ripped eh? Then, on Beastie Boys Pauls Boutique, the first run cd had Bboy Bouillabaisse as one whole track, now its actually tracked out to its component songs.... these artists I tell ya!
This album is perfect!
Could you do a reaction to in utero by nirvana too? Thanks!
Yes! I was gonna tell him to listen to In Utero too! Used to listen to it on repeat 💖
Endless Nameless wasnt credited in the album. It's them just jamming in the studio and would come on about 10 minutes after the album had finished (secret songs on CDs used to be quite a trend).
Nirvana would often perform it as their last song at a gig whilst trashing their equipment.
@@janhanmer4830 yes i know
Your reaction to Endless Nameless is exactly why they added it like 20 minutes of silence after Something In the Way as a secret track, it was just a joke to scare people 😂
10 minutes
He looked so despondent too. Lol
That brings back memories.
I thought nothing could shock anymore but I stand corrected.
Now should we have him listen to "disgustipated" from tool's "undertow" next???
Nirvana nevermind out sold Michael Jackson, nirvana was like the Beatles for the next generation at th3 time
Indeed. And to his dismay, Kurt was indeed this generations John Lennon.. and multi instrumentalist song writer Dave is this generations Paul McCartney dare I say! ;)
Nevermind was a smash hit but I liked in Utero more. That album like was a signature mark of Cobain as an artist. And Yeah, all their albums are consistent in terms of style
Hi mate, glad you finished this album. I grow up with this. First album I brought my brother and yes it was a hit. Before it did my brother saw them in a small club in England with only 200 other people. Still jealous of that. Any chance you could check out Faithless Salva Mea
And Faithless Insomnia please!
You should do the rest of their albums as well. Bleach, Incesticide, In Utero and the MTV Unplugged album.
This band is amazing man.. I wish there was more popular music that makes you feel how you're feeling in these videos, because that's how we all feel listening to the radio! There wasn't only efforts to make a big single and vídeo to make the viral tiktok, mainstream had lots of artist who put their soul into their music and made the masses feel it
You should try dookie by Green Day. It helped make pop punk and was pretty much the biggest album after nirvana ended!
Another great album choice, I think that might be another perfect 10 album
And of course the secret track All by myself 😆
@@fenderfox5080 lol
This album came out when I was 6. 10 years later, as a teen growing up in seattle I can definitively say this was STILL just as popular 10 years later as it was when it released(half the girls in HS still had a crush on Kurt even though he had died).
To this day most people in seattle still probably recognize at least half these songs if they pop up on the radio.
Endless nameless is a bonus track that not even been on original recordings, in song kurt going mad because can’t play something so he smash some shit and i think guitar too
Bro you should so react to the album of the Arctic Monkeys : Whatever People Say What I Am That's What I'm not. It's certainly a 10 out of 10 and I'm a rap fan.
All three albums are literally amazing and perfect to me even they’re mixtape insecticide and also a bunch of hidden tracks from them recording in the late 80’s off of With The Lights Out
always so happy to see your very positive attitude....hugs fron France dear JOJO
Salut camarade jsuis pas le seul français à ce que je vois
LMAO, I didn't expect to see the Endless, Nameless here. Btw this song you could call a "secret" cuz it played after waiting a while after the ending of "Something in the way" on CD album.
10 minutes of silence then surprise!

Kurt lived homeless under a bridge in Aberdeen Seattle he write this song then 😀✌️
That’s what the legend says
The last song which confused you so much is a reflection of their live shows and what you’d hear! This album came out my senior year in HS. Look for live footage.
Also do a listening party for PRETTY HATE MACHINE by NIN, they came out around the same time!
19:35 This song was Kurt explaining his life when he lived under a bridge. Kurt didn’t really live under the wishka river bridge but he told ppl he did. Rip Kurt I love you so much, Kurt is so pretty🥺 also I could watch your reactions to Nirvana all day, I don’t mean wake up and watch then go to sleep I mean 24/7 hours straight
It feels so good to see someone like you discovering and enjoying like this Nervermind for the first time 😁🎉
This is still one of my favorite all time albums to this day. It always hits hard, and all the songs are awesome! Enjoy!
Loving your grooveyness JJ 😜 please do full album, 'Dirt' by Alice In Chains
YES!!!
Alice In Chains is a MUST!!
not even a punk album , no comparison to nevermind
@@waynetables6414 they're both Seattle grunge. Neither of them is punk
@@antitypical1807 All grunge means is Washington rock bands wearing flannel shirts. Those bands have different styles. Nirvana is absolutely a punk band, you must not know a lot about music. Nothing wrong with that! Just don't go around correcting people about things you're not knowledgable about.
@@waynetables6414 Grunge was a distinct musical genre that originated in mid -'80s Seattle that blended punk and metal influences to make a new sound. The thing that made Nirvana different from other grunge bands was Cobain's integration of Beatles inspired pop. While punk is part of the mix of influences there is more going on here, but I'm sure you knew that.
Watching you at the end…Priceless!!!😂
@LFR Jojo Nevermind was released in September 91' and didnt really expload till Smells Like Teen Spirit was put into the MTV rotation, they blew up so fast they still had a van and a U-Haul trailer when they hit Gold Status
Great reaction! If you wanna check out another great rock album, I'd recommend checking out some My Chemical Romance. Either The Black Parade or Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge would be great albums to start with 😁
As other people are saying, Endless Nameless was just a jam hidden 10 minutes after the end of the album (on CD only) to freak people out. That’s all. You were supposed to end the album, and then forget it was still playing, and then the song would kick in and startle you.
You can do that with CDs. Hidden songs, and I believe the X-files soundtrack has a song that is hidden at the beginning of the album… you had to put the track on, then hit rewind to get to the hidden song, even though you were at the beginning of the album.
Nirvana was the first to do this in the CD era. The Beatles had a little song hidden at the end of Abbey Road, but that was it. After Nevermind came out, all sorts of bands from Danzig to Weird Al would put little things as hidden surprises at the end. It was fun, but then everybody was doing it so it died off.
Fun little fact. Stay Away is Post Malone’s favorite Nirvana song hence why it’s tattooed on his face
'Something In The Way' is about when Kurt was a teenager and was constantly getting in trouble, and his mom had remarried to a man with his own kids. Kurt felt like he was the empidement to them achieving their dream of domestic bliss. He felt he was the object that was "getting in their way" . So he left and started living on the streets. He spent most of his time underneath a nearby bridge. Thus, this episode of his life became the subject matter for 'Something In The Way'
12:05 watch bro discover what an under-rated song is 😭😭
It was more than a hit, it kicked off an entire era
With Pearl Jam’s Ten which came out 3 weeks earlier 😅
Ha HA ---- On a Plain ...is my favorite too...
Nirvana flipped the music scene. Alternative music was just starting out and Nirvana brought it to the forefront. Nirvana is the fathers of Alternative music scene.
There are a few bands that help change the music industry. Beatles changed rock music. Ozzy changed metal music. Nirvana help change the music scene.
You need to listen to Where did you sleep last night. It was on the MTV Unplugged album. The song dates back to the 1800s but was first recorded in 1926 by a banjo player named Dock Walsh. Bill Monroe recorded it in 1941, and Lead Belly in 1944.
Kurt said Lead Belly is one of his favorite performers. The end when Kurt takes that last breath speaks volumes.
The outro of this album is literally the theme song of batman 😂😭 had me dying
Im wait for your react on Endless, Nameless. Its very interesting song, when they try to record Lithium something was wrong, and Kurt gone mad. He told to Butch Vig (producer) he want to still record sound. Because he want to try something. And this history of that song. On The Beatles album Abbey Road, you can find song with same role (Her Majesty).
I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD DURING ENDLESS NAMELESS.. YOU LOOK TRAUMATIZED
Fun Fact: The first song you said should have been the first track on the album was actually the first song on the second side of the cassette tape. It opened the second half of the album.
i recommend foo fighters and the singer is the drummer from nirvana you should listen to “times like these”
I see a lot of people in the comments saying that endless nameless scared the shit outta them when they heard it for the first time. For me it's honestly just kind of a banger. Despite it mostly being just nonsense and noise.
Beck Mellow Gold is great too. Give that a listen sometime
Sorry for all the comments but I love that your digging this album, most people only knew smells like teen spirit and Kurt really hated that, and the band I could imagine. But you as a first listener are singing along with most of these songs first listen. Nursery rhymes
yoo this is 🔥🔥🔥 you should definitely react to the bleach album or in utero
I'm listening and there is more I need to say. On a plain AND Drain you were discussed seriously as singles.. but then they figured they can't make every song a single. So they had to pick and choose and that was one of the hardest things to do cuz the label told them they could only choose 4 singles realistically.. so they chose Lithium over Drain you. And they chose in bloom over On a plain.. but there has been plenty of times I said that Drain you is a single . It just sounds like a hit just as much as Teen Spirit in my opinion. On a plain is major single material as well. They played On a plain on their unplugged album and it sounded amazing.. I would recommend reviewing Nirvana Unplugged in New York. Next my bro.. trust
Dave Grohl will be pleased to hear you saying this album has not one bad song lol😉
Oh man I’m newly obsessed with this page!!! Hope he listens to Alice In Chains !!!
Bro you need to react to some Pink Floyd or Black Sabbath, or if you into heavier stuff try Tool. Loving the react vids, rock is life 🤘
Some other full albums you should check out are: Pearl Jam - Ten, White Zombie - Astro Creep: 2000, Sublime - Sublime and Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Unless there's a word for word description of the lyrics on final track 'Something In The Way' then it's mostly about Kurt (singer/lead+rhythm guitar/writer) being passed aound his family members after his parents' divorced. Lived with his grandparents, was homeless, living in cars, sleeping under a now famous bridge on the Wishkah river in Aberdeen, W.A. state. Kurt said many times his songs weren't always about a specific thing, but seems clear they all have roots in pretty personal ideas/themes at very least.
The last 'noise' track (Endless, Nameless' is just a studio jam and not a real composition) was only added to the European release after the first 20,000 or so copies sold out super fast after college radio pushed it, you can see why it caught on fast I guess.
So cool seeing people from all walks of life finding the tunes I loved growing up and being blown away, Nirvava was always for anyone and everyone that vibed with it (except racists/rednecks lol)
Now you have to listen to the entire first Foo fighters album and compare the sound. I would love to get your take on the evolution of Dave grohl
Personally, even though I appreciate Nirvana I prefer the Foo fighters more so it would be interesting to hear what you think and don't worry I hated the last song on never mind as well :-)
Please listen and react to Bleach, Nirvana’s first album
I tend to return to On A Plain amongst all the tracks
Their MTV Unplugged NYC album has some incredible covers
I have trouble finding a bad song anywhere on their four studio albums. You might also enjoy Bleach, In Utero, and Incesticide.
On a plane was my fav song for a long Time 🤟
In Utero is Nirvana's best album.
Fun story. So back when internet wasn't well what it is. I jag no idea about this song. So when something in the way wad done I'd change I'd the album. One night was like 2am and wasn't paying attention and noticed the cd was still going then I heard the faint bass so I turned it up listening close like the fuck then dun dernt! 😂 I quickly turned out off hit the lights abs jumped in bed line oh fuck. 😂😂
somthing in the way is about hown when kurt was going from house to house sleeping on couches he would sit under the bridge and hinted at him living under neath a bridge
Easily one of the greatest albums ever
The album Nevermind by Nirvana is famously known for being an album where each and every song had single potential and it broke records for being one of the only albums where the first 3 Songs WERE hit singles.. that was huge and unseen back then except on greatest hits records. And nevermind basically plays out like a Greatest hits album. This was a huge Album my bro. I mean we're talking most influential album of the entire decade of the 90s... In the top 10 of the most Influential albums of ALL TIME from the beginning. There is a quote . Forgive me for not knowing the author but it is "All roads lead to Nevermind".. what that means is that in all types of music today. There is always a path leading back to NIRVANA's Nevermind.. it was that influential!!! Hope that gives you an idea how rediculously great this album is... And this is acknowledged by Fans AND non fans alike. It's just that great. It's now a standard. Up with the likes of The Beatles... And Michael Jackson... Dr Dre...You landed on a good one bro . This is def one of the greatest of the greats.. the Goat!!! I hope that places it into perspective for ya ;) I tried really hard.. but the album speaks for itself!
Love watching u listen to this and yes it's a 10/10
Rumors says he wrote that song under a bridge he use to sleep, will his parents divorced.
22:50 yeah that song wasn't made as a song to vibe to. He made it out of pure anger and based it off a riff he was working on.
Was great to see someone have the same reaction I did 25 years ago listening to this. You should try the band the Pixies, they inspired Kurt and SLTS. Try the album Doolittle 😃
You should react to their last studio album “in utero”
What all theses comments is right! Nirvana flipped the world upside out with this album and changed music, movies,TV and even fashion with the new wave they didn't know what to call it so adapted the term grudge and it took over the 90s and some to this day! Last real rockstar.Rockstar.. missed everyday kurt! Justice for kurt!! But what I have to say u had me rolling!! hahahhahah I was head bumping with uu and at the end when ur virgin ears heared nameless endless hahah and your eyes popping out and then called it a 10 out of 10! You had me laughing on top of my lungs!! Thanks for appreciating this rare genius art. Your the bestttt !! Love u man!
