please someone tell me why Kurt actually disconnected? Did he leave a letter or sth?
Probably just upset, he had gotten to the top of the mainstream and still wasn't happy, his drug and stomach problem definitely didn't help
Nobody really knows, there are a lot of conspiracy theories but no one knows how it really was. The most popular one is that he didn't leave voluntarily and his wife Courtney helped him „leave“.
He left a letter. His widow read it out loud during a public memorial. He struggled with fame, being an artist, drugs and relationships.
You can find his note online
To Boddah Speaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand. All the warnings from the punk rock 101 courses over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guity beyond words about these things. For example when we're back stage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowds begins., it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I walk out on stage. I've tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do,God, believe me I do, but it's not enough). I appreciate the fact that I and we have affected and entertained a lot of people. It must be one of those narcissists who only appreciate things when they're gone. I'm too sensitive. I need to be slightly numb in order to regain the enthusiasms I once had as a child. On our last 3 tours, I've had a much better appreciation for all the people I've known personally, and as fans of our music, but I still can't get over the frustration, the guilt and empathy I have for everyone. There's good in all of us and I think I simply love people too much, so much that it makes me feel too fucking sad. The sad little, sensitive, unappreciative, Pisces, Jesus man. Why don't you just enjoy it? I don't know! I have a goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy and a daughter who reminds me too much of what i used to be, full of love and joy, kissing every person she meets because everyone is good and will do her no harm. And that terrifies me to the point to where I can barely function. I can't stand the thought of Frances becoming the miserable, self-destructive, death rocker that I've become. I have it good, very good, and I'm grateful, but since the age of seven, I've become hateful towards all humans in general. Only because it seems so easy for people to get along that have empathy. Only because I love and feel sorry for people too much I guess. Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I'm too much of an erratic, moody baby! I don't have the passion anymore, and so remember, it's better to burn out than to fade away. Peace, love, empathy. Kurt Cobain Frances and Courtney, I'll be at your alter. Please keep going Courtney, for Frances. For her life, which will be so much happier without me. I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU!
'School' was written about the time Kurt was briefly the janitor at his old school. He was back in school but this time he didn't even get recess.
Not kurt cobain as the janitor 🥴
@@tamerail ruclips.net/video/UYLb4Zxl3Yc/видео.htmlsi=oVRuaWo69zJFFfYB
I’m pretty sure Kurt said it was about the movie Over the edge, It came out in 79 and is about these teenagers who lock their parents and cops on inside a school because there was this guy who ratted out another dude for hash then he threw him in a lake while his mom watched, and then the parents and cops have a meeting about it, and then the teenagers lock them in and blow up cop cars with the shot guns the cops left in their cars, Then they trash the school then get arrested I think haha
That makes it so worse :(((( i thought it was a cool high schooler rebellious song :(
No. That’s not what it’s about at all. You’re just mixing up dumb stuff you read
To quote Krist Novoselic "In Utero is a testament to the artistic vision of Kurt Cobain"
The studio thought it wasn't commercial enough to release, it's a masterpiece.
i love AcidBath
1:00 krist wasnt the nirvana menber that started foo fighters that was dave grohl the drummer, also i would reccomend you definately check out the foo fighters
Also fair to mention that Dave Grohl isnt on this album. The drummer for Bleach was Chad Channing, he left the band not long after Bleach, though he appeared on some other Nirvana stuff such as the drums for Polly.
he's gotta be doing this on purpose

Nirvana didn’t create Grunge, they just popularized it. Grunge was the sound from the underground rock scene in Washington, mainly around Seattle. Grunge is basically Metal fused with punk, and pop melodies.
Grunge is the name the media gave to sludge metal and hard rock bands from the Seattle area. This album is a mix of hard rock and sludge metal.
@@Chris_FMS_Redfield 👍
Not at all. They made and created the principal style for the grunge, with a big difference between the classic "grunge" from Seattle and the Nirvana's Grunge

Chad Channing was the drummer for the first album only. Kurt replaced him with Dave and he went on to drum from never mind on. Dave is the one who went on to form the Foo fighters. Krist actually got into public office for a bit!
dale and Chad were the drummers in bleach.
Fun fact: kurt coughed up blood doing some of the screams in this.
Speaking of Quentin Tarantino, he was actually thanked on the liner notes for In Utero because Kurt liked his movie Reservoir Dogs so much.
Why do I have to be Mr. Pink?
And Quentin wanted him for the role of the dealer in pulp fiction!
Never thought I would watch someone react to music but dude your commentary is just great and funny! I even watched your Nevermind reaction. Keep up the awesome work man! You for sure gotta listen to In Utero, their final studio album. Also will you be listening to live albums? I noticed you mentioned them in this video. You ABSOLUTELY have to check out their Unplugged album live in New York, they play some of their songs acoustically in that performance and do a few covers. I'd recommend both watching and listening to that one actually, they played in a beautiful theater. And two of their bigger and more popular live albums would be "Live at the Paramount" also "Live and Loud". Cant wait to see more from you!
Never thought someone would use the Supers section but thank you! Glad you enjoyed the videos. I'll definitely do the MTV unplugged album since people have recommended that one a lot. The same goes for the Paramount performance. I guess I will try to find a good video version since seeing a band is even cooler. So far the only live performance I have watched was Smells Like Teen Spirit on some TV show with playback where Kurt badly acted like he played meanwhile Krist was spinning his bass guitar around his neck 😂 it was a form of protest and the funniest thing I might've seen a band do
Re: "School," "why would they slow down during the chorus?" Possibly because The Pixies did that on the song "Where is My Mind?" and that band was a big influence to them.
No, that same Pixies album, Surfer Rose, was released only in 1991, and it influenced Cobain in the future, and in the fall Where is my mind,More likely Gigantic and Vamos, but not Where is my mind
@@madhikki05 Surfer Rosa was released in '88, before Bleach.
@@devenscience8894 Fuck, dude, I'm sorry, I meant Nevermind. Kurt Cobain I know listened to Surfer Rosa, After the release of Bleach, I was inspired by this concept of “quiet-loud-quiet” on the Nevermindp record
The album was released in 1989, but Love Buzz was a single in 1988 and the songs Floyd the Barber, Paper Cuts and Downer are all from the '88 demo with Dale Crover (from the Melvins) on drums, but were used as they were judged to be better than the versions with Chad Channing. The original vinyl album ended with Sifting. The cassette included Big Cheese at the end and the much later CD version added Downer.
Yea I had the tape. I didn't hear downer until incesticide came out.
6:38 funny fact, Tarantino actually met with Cobain and wanted him to be in a movie but it never ended up going anywhere.
Please do in utero. My favourite nirvana album
100% would love to see his reaction to it
@@jamesorion8316 yes! Its raw and intense
@@yanisfadi1730I think bleach is a great first album but can be too raw at times, on the other hand I’d say nevermind is an over correction being slightly too clean. In Utero however in my opinion is the band finding the sweet spot they were trying to achieve. Love them all though.
@@jamesorion8316 great comment👍 i totally agree
Incesticide tooo!
I just realized for some reason they said the drummer was called Chad? Not Dave wtf
Chad was the original drummer, they replaced Chad with Dave Grohl when Nevermind's production started. And Dave Grohl's the one who made Foo Fighters with Pat Smear, Nirvana's second guitarist during live shows in late 1993 and 1994.
Yeah Dave was like the 5th drummer in nirvana.
Dude you will love in utero, that album its a masterpiece
Idk about “masterpiece” but it’s a banger
This record was made on a budget of 600$ and recorded in a couple of sessions, it's representative of Nirvana's very early underground sound, raw and unfiltered.
The last two tracks weren't part of the original release and only came around later, on this recording they had a different drummer called Chad Channing, they recorded the Nevermind demos with him also until they eventually got Dave Ghrol on board, and he's the guy who started Foo Figthers after Nirvana, Kris Novoselic has been involved in collaborations and side-projects but never anything too major.
absolutely love your reactions to some amazing albums!
you sound more like Klaus from American Dad Also on this album they did have a second guitarist named Jason Everman. I believe he was the reason why they were able to get funded to make this record so I think he’s all over this don’t quote me tho.
There are only 3 studio albums (Bleach, Nevermind, & In Utero).
Incesticide is a compilation album and MTV Unplugged is classified as a live album.
Though all 5 albums are great.
8:00 restraining order
You said that you thought Kurt and Tarantino would get along great. And while they never met Kurt loved his movies so much he thanked him in the credits to In Utero.
He also quoted Cobain in the movies credit.
That last "You're In High School Again" in School is a damn nightmare to hit properly if you're getting into it and trying sing along. Also, School was the song Nirvana played the most when they were together. More than any other song in their entire catalog.
I'd heavily suggest giving Spank Thru and Sappy a listen.
Incesticide is my favorite album from them, is really underrated, to me it seems like the perfect balance between the weird grooves in Bleach, the commercial impact heavy riffs from Nevermind, and the explosion of sounds and noises in In Utero. Its a masterpiece, for sure, but i get why people prefer the other ones, it sounds like a bunch of unused ideas from the other ones
That’s the real Nirvana dirty and sludgy
Bleach & Incesticide are my two favorite albums, though I dig em all.
i was waiting for this vid yo thanks man
No problem!
BLEACH 💜💜💜 my first love
I don't usually watch reaction video but somehow i watch these till the end
When you listen to Insecticide, do it in chronological order rather than album order. You can hear the drummers change.
Mr Moustache is the hardest Nirvana song to play by far. It's pretty fun. Also a scoff is a vocal gesture used to show disaproval. And 29:26 is called a drum roll, to get the marching band sound specifically you use the snare drum
Nah Hairspray Queen definitely takes that title of being the hardest to play, Mr Moustache is tiring but also quite easy.
hardest nirvana song on drums is aero zepellin. For guitar maybe love buzz, hairspray queen or aero zepelling (because of the solo).
12:09 you MUST check out their live performance live at paramount. its my favorite live performance by them. they got songs from both bleach and nevermind so you MUST check it out. the videos are on youtube
please check it out.
In Utero next?
Please
Dave Grohl the drummer who isnt on this album founded the Foo Fighters. Krist Novoselic is the bassist and there is also a second guitarist on this album
The second guitarist you speak of Jason Everman didn't play on the record but he did pay for it
Was waiting for this video for long time
So you've already listed to bleach, and nevermind, but you were told wrong. There are 5 Nirvana records, so you've got 3 more to go: Insecticide, In Utero, MTV Unplugged
@RobTonge80 talked about how Chad was replaced, if you want to know why, Chad was a very aggressive man, and he wasn’t very fond into songwriting, so, as Rob says, he was fired, and soon they recruited Dave Grohl, the bands 6th, and final, drummer.
I can see the feeling in your eyes of listening nirvana song for first time.
14:28 “when I’m in diarrhea de Janeiro i like to have the freshly cut dried leaves of a palm tree” - kurt for absolutely no reason
It was Dave Grohl who formed the Foo Fighters he was the drummer after Chad was fired and drummed on everything from Nevermind onwards.
I would definitely listen to in utero next. Insecticide is a compilation album of b sides wouldn't recommend for you. You'd probably like the MTV unplugged live album though if you like soft rock.
Krist didn't found the foo fighters, it was Dave Grohl
Big Cheese is like a cheese in a mouse trap, he’s being sent to the principals office and theyre trying to give gim the cheese to take the bait
Love you reacting to these! Please listen to Incesticde Nirvana's 3rd album (they released it in 1992, before In Utero which was released in 1994). They actually have a different version of Downer on it and a faster more punk version of Polly from Nevermind.
You should listen to Mudhoney's "Superfuzz Bigmuff" (1988).
Kurt listed it as one of his favourite albums/ep's of all time. It's also very grungy and raw.
Big cheese was a popular phrase for an important person in English at the time and was well understood in Britain too (I'm British). It may have fallen out of use over recent decades. It was often used disrespectfully, as in 'oh the big cheese says so so it must be true' with much sarcasm.
Love to see your reaction to You Know You're Right
12:15 until around 1993 yeah
You will gonna love in Utero
Why is he bombarding me with insults😭😭
I’m very excited for the in utero reaction
in the albums there was no second guitarist, but towards the end of nirvana, around 1993 till the end, they had a 2nd guitarist, Pat Smear
you need to check out the entire live and loud show its amazing
This album cost Nirvana a total of $600 to record. Now, in 1988, $600 was equivalent to about $1600 today- so still rather cheap. And also, thinking of the musical landscape in 1988- this band coming out of nowhere with this album is insane. I could only imagine people's reaction to hearing something this heavy back then.
Dave says it's funny because it cost them $606 to produce and that's his number that he sees everywhere (hence his studio being called Studio 606)
Bleach was nirvana first studio album 1988 nevermind was studio album 2 different drummers
Oh hell yeah!!! In Utero next!
Incesticide is a collection of early material and b-sides, but there are a few great tracks on it.
That’s the real Nirvana
This guy is literally saying "This song is f*cking good, unlike you guys. *Smirks*" 🤣
You should do the whole Dirt album by Alice In Chains. It’s the peak grunge album.
Hey, im a fairly new subscriber and got hooked ever since you did a reaction of the fame by Lady Gaga. i love the way you analyze and decypher songs and albums and treat them like experiences. i was wondering if you could react to all the Ghost albums, all of them have a whole different feel to them. Ghost explores a lot of diffrent sounds implementing a lot of 80s sound into their metal/rock heavy songs. the band performs not as themselves but as characters that follow their story of the band, and that being a satanic leader and its helpers in a sense. it is really intresting and i feel like you would really enjoy it, and it would be awesome to get your perspective on their music as well as their sound.
This album is so heavy!!! Back when Kurt felt like he had control over his own direction in his art and life...
You should listen to In Utero and Incesticide, I love your reactions in recent times and would love to see that reaction👍😎
woahh you replied to my comment in the video (i think) keep up the good work mann!
Which one were you 🤨
@@tamerail lol my bad, it was the comment on the other album, incesticide.
Can't wait for you to listen to in utero
That Blew joke with what happened to Kurt got me like " holy 😯" 😂
In Utero is a must now.
Would you also react to album Paranoid by Black Sabbath? You were talking about heavy metal at 18:20 and Black Sabbath were somewhat creators of Heavy Metal so it would be cool to hear your opinion on the first bits of metal.
Can’t wait for you to hear Insecticide and plz watch the Paramount show it’s worth it
I remember calling a friend to ask a friend to let me borrow this album so I could make a tape copy of it, so I wouldnt have to order a copy to be mailed to a store for me to buy lol
Nirvana wasn't the inventor of Grunge. They were actually the runt of the litter. Nirvana was not an over night success either. They toured their asses off for Bleach and then recorded Nevermind and changed things forever.
12:15 if you will reacting on live concerts i really recommend argentina 1993 with flea, breed 1991 paramount and smells like teen spirit bad version when they sabotaged the concert because the crow was sexist and they played it from playback i mean the video with deep voice
Nevermind incesticide and in utero all had Dave grohl as the drummer, while this album had Chad Channing
All of incesticide? I'm pretty sure some of those songs were older recordings with Chad
The drummer for this album isn’t dave grohl is Chad Channing Dave joined during nevermind
Definitely check out Incesticide.
When I saw unplugged live on TV, it was like watching the moon landing for many!
Amazing album, Utero is what you're talking about
Love to see a first time reaction to Rush
i've been waiting for this let's goo
downer was one of the tracks on a demo tape from 1985 called "fecal matter" that kurt gave krist to convince him to start a band after krist had said no many times; it orginally was just kurt and dale crover of the melvins. it was recorded in the early nirvana days before bleach so 1986-1988ish, and in 1992 it showed up on "incesticide" and was later added to bleach!
Unfortunately nirvana only have 4 studio albums pretty sad
You should definitely react to incesticide, it has some very good songs
You totally should just watch some Nirvana interviews and live performances. These guys were hilarious. There's all sorts of compilations of just them being funny.
My favourites back then when I first had the album were, school, negative creep and sifting
another great but heavier album would be "when the kite strings pop" by acid bath, i can tell u wanted heavier and faster songs, but theres also a nice calmer song in the middle of the album, really great album made by a great band and vocalist.
According to Kurt’s wife (who does lie a lot) Tarantino wanted Kurt in pulp fiction and Tarantino was on the thank you list for Nirvanas in utero album
Tamerail, I encourage you to listen to the album Illiteracy Will Prevail, by Fecal Matter, which was basically Nirvana before Nirvana, the songs Spank Thru, Anorexorcist, and Downer, which you know about! But I hope you actually do listen, it would be very nice, but you must know that the quality is not great, so listen to the 2.0 Remasters on RUclips, they sound better! Great day Tamerail!
When you react to in utero you should live stream it so we answer any of your questions and other things
Chad channing actually did start his own band it's called before cars
And if I'm not wrong Krist Novoselic was in a band called giants in trees
on the 18th we’ll get Hoepfully in utero since his schedule is 4 days
You should watch Nirvana Live at the Paramount Theater. Its shoot on film so its very pleasing to the eye. I was recorded just before they reached an unmanageable level of fame. You asked how he acts during the solos, if you watch you will know. I call his solos anti-solos and he often falls down during them. Anyway you can find the concert on youtube ans it provides a nice snapshot of Nirvana performing at a high level and having fun.
In Utero reaction next?
Floyd the barber was written about a nightmare kurt had about the andy griffith show
you should definitely watch nirvana funny moments
Welcome to the cool kids club.
I had the bleach cassette in high school and I played it a bit but the tape player ate it and I had to take some scotch tape and splice the tape back together so it would play again lol
sounds like 60's "garage bands"
You should react to rage against the machine first album
Dont if some already mentioned it, but Chad Channing did go on to play on other bands.
This is content what was missing. Like slow an calm. Really good work and you should try in utero and fecal matter and maybe foo fighters its ridiculous that drummer can be guitarist and singer. Try also marigold please.I like your content.
You gotta listen to pixies Doolittle. Great album in itself but even cooler when you know the influence they had on nirvana, especially Kurt.
You should just do Nirvana reactions. Shit is hilarious.
most of my favorite songs are on incesticide and with the lights out box set. The box set has bunch of older outtakes and incesticide has some of the heaviest nirvana songs there are
