watching this nearly a decade later because my friends and I are gonna play CoH soon and I need a Brit strat :) Thanks for sharing, and hope you're well!
@rabadooda this doesn't always work. 1) one recon section can be easily drawn out from the +10/16 territory and you'll have nothing else because your HQ is moving;2) lieutenant can be easily killed even by pioneers;3) see 1);4) StuH42 kills the PIAT squad in 2-3 shots. Also no decent player will let u build Bofors without pressure;5) if enemy keeps pressuring your base, you proly won't have res to buy cromwells/commandos;6) when your base finally succumbs, you won't have anything to hold VPs.
Since the captain is pretty close to the battlefield why don't you make the squads at the base retreat to Cpt so they can get to the front faster than just walking there.
lol if he used only one mortar team you would have been doomed... but what really surprised me the most was that you only built 1 deference building and 2 trenches... which opposes the brits' strategy of -rush -fortify -regroup -attack... due to the lack of unit specialty...
HELPFUL REPLY... I can answer 2 and 3 2) a control group is when you draw a box over units then press CTRL 1 to assign them to group 1. Then when you press 1 it will auto select that group. I suspect this is how question one was accomplished. 3) when moving a tank for example if you hold right click you can choose which direction the tank will face as denoted by the arrow.
When the pioneers weren't shooting, the house didn't have windows facing towards your Infantry Sections in the trench. So they were unable to shoot lol.
I tried clicking on "Continue" when the match was over. Strategy works well btw, but i usually build 2 recon squads max, and upgrade secure recoursing which helps alot for the "button" and sniper abilities.
Placing your base closer to the front line makes it easier to hold as you can get forces faster to the front line and it gives some defensive bonuses, some may say that then the foe can just kill it off, but it is actually quite hard to kill and if you would to loose all your forces you would loose the game anyways and if the enemy were to focus down the base then he would obviously loose the fight. It's gives you better defense in any case.
I don't mean that, I don't use artillery in 1v1/2v2, I try to use strategy smilar to yours seen in this video, i just seem to lose all the time, either get outnumbered, or get overweaponed by something BIG... and have absolutley no idea what could I change in my strategy...
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong playing as British or what but it seems like every time I do 1v1s i get my shit wrecked by 1 tank and alot of infantry spam. They load all there guys up with rocket launchers then get a panzer or some thing like that and just destroy me. I don't know how to prevent infantry spam because it seems like everyone I've played so far is doing that. Please help
You know what hurts me more than wasting your time on recon sections? Not using control groups and building strong defenses. Brits have the broken early game advantage of building as many artillery pieces as possible in the early game once they hit tier 2. And I disagree with you saying Brits not needing fuel because it's what's needed to level down the opponent's base to nothingness, and oh, tanks too. Edit: your opponent is n00b WTF bro?!
i think you and i are infantry minded commanders. in assault i always use first infantry and the armored force are for the suppoert of my infantry only stay back then assisting my assault force.
I hate to be a noob, but ive played the Tutorial 10 times over and over.. How do you make Infantry go from 1 Cap point to the next without having to reorder them to go to the next capture point you want?
3 cromwells will beat a panther if u know how to micro manage and use flank spead properly, and the firefly will really do some dmg while out of range of the panther. brit tanks are only weak if u dont use them properly and just attack head on.
Thanks so much for sharing your strategy. My question is why bunker mortars are not so good I feal they can be good in beginning of the game, or for example in your game you could build one in middle since you capture and secure it well? What you think is it good or not, because Wermacht has good tactics against it fire, etc...
This is a beginner coh play, even more so from a wehrmacht player. Chosing assault grenadiers ability first would have helped a lot against trenches. Why no mortar/sniper combo? No schrecks on grenadiers... If you use flamers you gotta use a couple of them at once, and preferably vet them... Well. Brits are fairly easy to counter with werhmacht... ))) Especially if you are able to make 2-3 snipers and KEEP them, as brits are costly to reinforce (like PE grens). -------- As for the british player: Mistakes were made too. SO much infantry is unnecessary... Max 2-3 squads and 1 piat (or two if you see him popping out tanks as mad) = so like 4 alltogether... CCS IS A MUST!! To heal your guys. Personally I like to go fast cromwells, and spam them. Them I like to rush his base and destroy his buildings and/or bunkers OFCOURSE a good flank is necessary to surprise him and kill as much as possible, so you have to distract him by fighting with your soldiers SO during one of his engagements you simultaniously attack his base, uyou have to be prepared and sneaky. ---------- --------------------- It doesn't matter what faction you're playing, in this game it's all about the control of sectors and cutting the other guy off the resources. Harassment and sneakiness. Suprise attacks. AND you got to be able to drain his manpower more then he is draining yours. Who's better at this will win the game!!
I guess if you find a way to flank the AT guns then you could use the Stuart's shotgun something. The Firefly actually is great. Unfortunately, it's armor is too thin so you could partner it with a Churchill since those have good armor. You could use the Churchill as the main attack then the Firefly could attack from behind. And by the way, how do you get a Cromwell tank?
Dude, you're really good with Brits. I only use brits in 3v3 (4v4) cause I just support artillery, I always lose in 1v1/2v2... But I'm sure about on thing: You just got a new subscriber :D
Hi cmasupra, Thanks for the tip. I enjoy playing the Brits and I'm learning new things all the time. Wouldn't you agree though that this strategy of yours will require an extraordinary amount of micro-management of your infantries and near-masterful use of your PIATs? Wouldn't you agree as well that even if you don't need all those fuel points, you should take them anyway, just to prevent your opponent from taking them?
for me brits need fuel early in the game for the preparation of thier anti tank and armored assault force. but i always balance my logistic tactis for the needs of my infantry in defense and especially for offense!
very nice video mate, I was wondering if you could answered some questions I have. I use a similar tactic to this but i have problems with it. 1) Snipers, what would you say is best to deal with them? 2) Being rushed early in the game which I could not stop because he had two mg42's one covering my base and the other covering the first, how would you stop this? 3) when is it right to use emplacements as brits, which emplacements and in which situations? If any one has ideas pls just say :)
Hi, so i Tried this strategy on my friend who plays vermacht/panzer elite. He just spamms pioneers/panzergrenadiers and my recon squads are helpless. How to i handle that?
Good game but your opponent makes to many mistakes. If i've got cut off at this point i'd switch to the right side of the map. OP the munition south and get some schreck upgrades - this helps a lot against stuart and give you the opportunity to throw grenades or get some flamer pio or to spam mines. Trying to get a well covered point over and over again will always fail. Heavy cover on one point means low cover on other positions. That's when this strat fails against high level player...
My strat: Slap a grenade on everything Infantry: Grenades Sappers: Piat launchers Max lieutenants and artillery command section Bombard them with all your explosions KABOOM
the brits arent really that op at all. their infantry is easily countered with flamers (they take more flame dmg than any others). their emplacements can be killed easily with arty and nebs etc and their tanks are no better than axis vehicles. also their command trucks can be killed easier than base buildings. EVERY faction has strengths and weaknesses u just have to find out what they are and u win
I have the same problem. And I don't have a clue on how to cost-effectively defeat Pumas. They rape inf + stuarts and can damage a cromwell pretty bad as well, considering their low cost. I don't really feel the firefly is that great, and it isn't available when Pumas first hit the field. Plus I don't know how to effectively take out PAK 38 AT guns. infantry even with brens take so god damn long time to kill the crew. Wish I had nades.
ok i realize this videos is for british strategy, but seriously you could have had the south east/south objection point captured...it just drives me crazy xD
2018.... this game is still better than rest of the rts( although coh 2 is better but... this game doesnt require you to have a high end pc to play)))))
quite cheap taktik to cut him off, and he could easily counter ur taktik with blitzkrieg grenades, snipers if he had a nice mikro so he can keep them out of range of u ablility and faster stugs.
about the sniping part having most of your section as recon is indeed unexpected since what i see from most brits are blobs but i dont think your sniping early game is gonna work with a pe player that also goes unexpected and uses scout cars excessively early game just sayin
no countering that is pretty easy motorcycle to spot infantry in trench use mg and snipers to pick them out if thats not a option use pio with flames in trucks use smoke from mortars of other way so that the acc of his units is down while flames arent affected ....smoke+flames/snipers+pak+camo/2-6 pumas as Harassment back and forth/ light fast armor is a very big problem for a slow non flexible army such as a brits...
If the opponent is able to spend that many resources, the British player isn't doing a good job using the sniper ability to dwindle the opponent's resources. Remember, when using this strategy, you're trying to cripple your opponent's Manpower in the early game so that he is far behind in terms of units and resources in the mid-late game.
You actually shouldn't. Instead, you should cut him off from any fuel points he owns and push him into his base. That way you prevent him from getting fuel without wasting time capping the fuel points yourself.

11:25 you do need your lieutenant at the front lines to accumulate and apply veterancy to offensive operations.
oh and plant demos around your trenches then detonate them but you screwed if they throw a grenade
you're right about that because two sections of infantry with bren will earn the marder, gracias por responderme en español

how do you make them follow ?
17 pounders and slit trenches all the way
