- Sittingbourne, the only UK Town twinned with Ypres in Belgium since 1964, is a proud town, in the summer of 2015 produced a short film as a response to the 30,000th Last Post played at the Menin Gate in Ypres on July 9th. The film also reflects some of the current tourism offer, cultural and historic links together with aspirations for the town’s future. The film was produced by Swale Borough Council with the support and participation of many local businesses and community organisations.

Great video, what strikes me about my families home town is that as a community Sittingbourne has always and can still pull it out the bag as a community. It’s the people of Sittingbourne that know the town and love the town, those that have made it their home and not just a place to live, but a place to live in, that makes the difference. I know some Towns and villages that claim to be a great place to live, but have hardly any activity that involves the community and therefore may be a pretty place to live but as a community can be lifeless. Keep it up Sittingbourne we may not be the prettiest town but we do care and continue to take #pride in your community, it’s a rare quality and after all, we were also the home to the largest Brickworks in the world and made great paper too! Not many Towns have such a large and innovative industrial centre either.

A dieing town with no prospects and a very bad reputation. Choked with cars due to terrible roads grid locked most of the time with a council that isn't interested or care about what once was a lovely place........pitty ...such a dump. Council's idea of regeneration is to put loads of fast food caf'e and hairdressers. Hardly no clothes shops no toy shop's and plenty of tacky pound shops with poor quality item's
Ahh! Is that why people from London are flocking to this very small town, hoping to move in and take over with their investments. House prices going up, more cars and people to make it like London?

I’ve lived in sittingbourne my entire life, my parents are immigrants, we haven’t really had any issues racism or xenophobia wise in our town but there are definitely racists here
