A good real life example would be the hunchback from Sparta or Sándor Szűcs a Hungarian who betrayed his country for love just like Renner. Enri - A Village Girl Who is thrust into a leadership position and gradually comes to command a massive army and an influential figure. Similar to Goodluck Jonathan who came to power in Nigeria through miraculous coincidences. Brain - A typical villain rogue who rises to the challenge despite knowing he has zero chance. Now he is not an idiot to face Nazarick and die head on. He first tried to improve his own skills through Sebas, But realized he could never achieve that level of power. So next he tried to raise a group of children with specials talent from young age. But this was also made impossible due to the invasion by Nazarick. Realizing he had no other option and wanting to buy time for Climb and Renner he would face off Cocytus Dying Honorably unlike when we see him for the first time running away from battle. Zanac - Was a brilliant leader. When he was unaware of Nazarick he wanted to get the throne from his brother, however this was both for selfish reasons as well, besides thinking that his brother would destroy the country with his stupidity. However, once he realized the threat of Nazarick he actively worked in whichever capacity he could to save the kingdom. He had to even fight with his father the king on many points, Unfortunately he could only watch as his father ran the kingdom to destruction. Bloody Emperor Jircniv - A brilliant ruler, He knows politics and is actively working for the benefit of his country. Unfortunately for him, several coincidences or destiny maybe, has other plans. He is thrown into a conflict with Nazarick which he manages to settle without war unlike the other kingdom. However he realizes that the long term consequences and is doing everything he can to undermine Nazarick while maintaining a façade of friendly relations outward. Again which unfortunately due to various coincidences, for him doesn't workout and land him in positions where he has to concede more and more to Nazarick. Ramposa III - A benevolent ruler who is too good for the detriment of him and his country. He is a good ruler. A brilliant one for a world where Nazarick does not exist. Unfortunately for him Nazarick does not run by normal human morals. His decisions end up costing him his kingdom. Which is not helped by the fact his own kingdom is pretty divided between criminal organizations like 8 fingers, Noble Factions and the Inheritance battle between Princes. The fact is if Nazarick was not a part of this world, While kingdom is still doomed it would have lasted much longer and would have solved few of its problems like slavery eventually. Barbro is the naive Nepo child of medieval world. He thinks he has all the power while in fact he is used by everyone around him for their own gain. He overestimates his own capabilities and ends up dying. Philips - A Narcistic idiot who thinks he can do things better than his peers, similar to Barbro end up being used by others end up leading to a massive catastrophe. Think of any disaster manager in history who thought he/she had things under control which led to even more disaster. Remedios - Similar to Philips and Barbro but not stupid. She is powerful and brilliant in her own way but too self-righteous and Narcistic. Always believing everything can be archived in a righteous way leading to her men abandoning her after multiple failures and driving her obsessively mad of Nazarick and Ainz specifically. To Summarize Overlord is a story full of characters of various shades and various walks of life. The story is mainly about how these various people react to an advent of a god like being with his posse. Both good and Evil use this godly being for their own goals ultimately failing to realize they are themselves being used by the said godly being who doesn't care for evil or good as long as it furthers his own goals. Ainz ain’t dumb, matter of fact I’d argue that he’s just inexperienced He adapts fairly quick to situations, manages to analyse and plan for a variety of situations as well, unlike Demi and Albedo Ainz thinks like a web, you can see how his thinking branches in multiple directions whenever facing an issue, granted he’s probably not a f*cking genius like Demi and albedo but he’s smart enough not to be caught lacking by most characters in the show And to mention the ones that can catch him off guard, are those who can either out gun him or out flank him, and that rarely happens I’d rank Ainz’s just naturally intelligence at moderately above average as he’s not the most genius but he’s probably smart enough to go toe to toe with Zanac (the chubby prince) and win or at least draw in terms of intellect He’s just not experienced in certain topics which makes it a blind spot, if he were to be as knowledgeable in those topics as he is in combat he’d be unstoppable
I'd say he's somewhere in between zanac and raevan as ainz also has great social intelligence, as well as battle intelligence. Information is the one thing he's missing, ainz also has a great memory, since he learned 700 spells and thought it was normal, he is very underrated, I've even seen people say he's as smart as climb 😭
his inexperience probably won't be a problem in the future due to his longevity so long as he seriously put in the effort to improve where he's lacking

Thats how he knew when the optimum time to flip the fight in his favor would be and set the alarm notification. Plus Id argue that Shaltear was by far the more formidable opponent. Which is why even his own completely loyal followers that consider him basically a god thought he would lose. Making his planning and strategic knowledge that much more impressive. He knew exactly what items he needed for the fight, planned out the misleading uses of his abilities, planned out Shaltears abilities and how she would use them, and not only knew how he would win but the exact moment when it would happen. 2. The fight with the dragon dude there again was NOT Ainz. Yes Ainz planned to have Pandoras actor take the fight to learn about the dragon dude, but thats as far as his intelligence took him. The fight and how it played out was all Pandoras Actor and Ainz had no influence on it. Yes Pandora can mimick some of his spells and he knows Ainz well enough to act similar to how he might act, but that doesnt make him Ainz. Another thing with this fight is how Pandoras actor actually had to be saved by Albedo because Pandoras actor couldnt break the barrier while Albedo could. And remember that Albedo admitted that she could NOT face Shaltear one on one and win. Meaning Albedo forced the Dragon guy to retreat and NOT pandoras actor or Ainz. Albedo who is weaker than Shaltear and mentioned how she would need the rest of the floor guardians to subdue her. Even the dragon dude in the anime states how he believes that Albedo could be the real leader because she was the stronger of the two and that Ainz could just be playing as the leader to fool everyone. He even calls her the player and Ainz the NPC. I agree that Ainz is much more strategic and intelligent when it comes to the game world and his abilities then what people might think. That being said, downplaying his most insane moment by far in the anime in favor for a fight he wasnt even involved with makes your argument for his strategic intelligence look a hell of alot weaker.
