Hey Guys at Sweetwater, You're simply the BEST in this Business !!! I'm a Customer of yours since 1992, when I's getting my "Master's of Music' at UNIVERSITY of MIAMI's FROST SCHOOL of MUSIC !!
Mike has a signature sound Chorus and Delay. John Scofield has Chorus and slight overdrive like sound as well. Benson has a traditional jazz tone embrace and enjoy the difference. Nathan East and Nick D'Virgilio displayed equal aplomb keeping a steady pocket for Stern's solos. Nice solo Nate! Excellent impromptu performance by all the Musicians. No, I do not work at Sweetwater Music.
I've always loved Mike's playing and tone. So intense, yet so refreshing--it doesn't get old after twenty seconds. Very relaxing sound, but retains interest. He's one of those players who plays super complex and quick jaw-dropping lines, yet it's like a breath of fresh, cool air. Never obnoxious "guitar god" crap. Nathan East is a great bassist, but I must say I'm more impressed with his comping when he's holding down the grove-not as fond of his soloing.
So, Rick, I guess you have been to Mike's live show and heard the live tone for your self??? Or,, is it that you are hearing this on a computer speaker. I herd you play, and I think first you should keep studying Mike and forget the tone. His tone live is one sought after by 1,000 s of musicians. You must be different. Keep studying, good day.
lol, the drummer doesn't even know how to end a blues the normal way. i kind of felt bad for him the way stern busted on him by playing smoke on the water at the end.
THE MUSICIAN NETWORK (TMNtv) you had Mike Stern there and nobody present that can play basic jazz drums? Don't worry I'm sure all the rock guys who were there couldn't tell the difference...
+Rob vp +Rick Danner Gentlemen, thanks for both of your comments & attending this live impromptu performance from Mike & Nathan was just incredible! Mike's tone, in person, was SUPER SWEET & so was Nathan's! Stay Tuned & Thanks for Watching, The Musician Network (TMNtv)
@@nonmember8725 I'm thinking about Patitucci, Feraud, Dario Deidda and many others that have the right groove in comping and very evolved Harmonic solutions...it's a question of style and taste, but probably you're right, Nathan plays jazz in a "non bop" style, simply different. In pop music, imho, he makes the difference: soooo groovy!!!
Being a bass player listening and learning from Nathan East is wonderful. But adding Nick on Drums; What a Treat! Thank you for a great 17 minutes.
Nathan East is the man!
You can always detect the "real pros" from the rest....I heard it kick in after about 6 notes....thanx Mike & Nathan
What a joy it is to watch these guys play. :)
I think this drummer has a beautiful sense of time. Good to hear you play.

rillloudmother The drummer filled in for this set at the last minute. Can people on RUclips STOP being so damn critical?

@@rillloudmother Lighten up. It's just music.

@@rillloudmother Exactly. Do you want to spend that life criticising other people.
Mike is great just hate his tone
+Rick Danner So personal.. I just love it and bought the PAC1511 just to get near to his beautiful tone.. next up.. get the same skills ;-)
+Rob vp he certainly rips it up and flows - I like his clean playing just not the chorus on everything

+THE MUSICIAN NETWORK (TMNtv) thanks brother ! maybe you could check out some of my amateur hour guitar work ! LOL
Will do, Rick!
Nathan East simply doesn't play jazz....great pop bass player but Very poor ideas in comping and soloing
Of course he plays jazz. Just not the way you think he should.

Amen. It's all good.: ) What a boring world it would be if everyone took the same approach.
