🚄 INFORMATION KEY
Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Multiple Units are 6 digit numbers where the first three numbers are the class of train e.g. 390154 would be a class 390. Click Here to learn more
➤ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOPS#TO...
Headcodes - e.g. 1F32 or 5M00 - These are used by the railway signallers to determine where trains are on the network. Every train within a region has a specific four code ID. Click Here to learn more
➤ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_r...
Set Number - e.g. WB64 or NL04 - These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.
🚄 ABOUT ME
Hello everyone, I’m StarlifeStudios and my passion is to experience and video railway stations across the United Kingdom at both small and large locations, but, with an informative twist! My videos are also designed as a historical reference for the days of the past and to reminisce about the way things were. Join me as I continue to travel and be sure to let me know if you’d like me to video at your favourite or local station. Авто/Мото
Which Train from this video is your favourite? Thanks for watching all 😃
Let's just say every train from this video is my favourite 😍
Nothing really. My favourite train is a Greater Anglia Class 720!
Either the 73, 455 or 450
All the trains in the video were my favourite
378, 700, 390, 360, 345, 377, 165, 168, 170, 185, 376 and *more*
When part one is already 43 mins long you know its gonna be good
Oh yes! Still not a single 701 in traffic but you can see one in Clapham Yard in some shots. I never thought to this day that they wouldn’t yet be in service..
@@StarlifeStudios it's taking ages for the 701s to enter service
@@maimadha and i personally think thats good because the seats dont look comfortable and as much as i hate the 458/0 front the 701s front is worse
@@fatihburek I do agree with that
@@StarlifeStudios there's some in Feltham Yard siding that hasn't moved for a while
You can't even film 'where are we today?' without a train passing! That's how busy CLJ is these days!
Such a fantastic station 😃
Been to Clapham Junction many times .. its extremely busy with trains and passengers at peak in the summer and also a great trainspotting area.. as this shows
I’ve spent most of my life at Clapham Junction it’s such a good station
Amazing that every single train from London Waterloo mainline station (the busiest in the whole UK) passes through here plus two thirds of the trains from London Victoria mainline along with several Overground trains as well!
Great video. Love the 73
Incredible video, this must have been really difficult to make, hats off!!
Thanks Henree, it was certainly challenging but I'm really happy with the finished product. Part 2 is a little more predicable but I had to go before the Southern 455s were scrapped!
it’s crazy to think how this is the busiest station in the UK, yet somehow some SWR trains still pass through
My favourite station in the UK, and this showcase (and part 2 when it’s out), really show off the expansiveness of a station connecting so many networks!
Thanks Maz, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Clapham Junction required two videos due to the mass amount of trains! Part 2 should be out very soon 😃
Mine too
Cool video, nice catches of the 66 and 73, never seen that movement before. Still afore those 455 workhorses
Thanks Tiger Trainz, It was interesting to me as well since it was a Colas driver/movement with a GBRf 73. I assume this is a driver training run or something. Those 455s are certainly well travelled, still excellent metro trains with well-regarded interiors.
@@StarlifeStudios ah yes, Colas run most of the GBRf 73s on driver training and PLPR services
Ooo multiple parts, very cool, must’ve been fun editing all these 😂
I had to split this video otherwise I would have been hours long! There were over 100 individual workings just in this video alone 😂
Well done for identifying all those trains at this famously busy spot. Apart from its busyness all I know about Clapham Junction is that it's not in Clapham.
Yep! It’s actually in Battersea. Although I make it look easy, there is a deceiving amount of preparation before and during filming. I am always preparing for the next train to come into view and there are a lot of cases in this video where it works well (and not!). Thanks David 😃👍🏻
Nice to see more then just Southern Trains
Yayyy!! A new video! At Clapham Junction amazing!
My fav station in the UK thx
Always a pleasure MohidYT 😃
I do really like the first swr train
Seems that on the Windsor and Eton Riverside line anything goes!
Great video as always.👍👌
I wonder which way you have to make it look so smooth. When I try to make trainspotting I always hear my hands touching my Microphone. By the way, AMAZING video!!
I know that feeling. I did one using my phone and not forgetting that my finger goes over the camera. Ruins some clips
@@lanchester101 Yeah, specially the good ones (rare trains and rare stuff)
Great railway video mate
Those class 455s with the odd 507 or 508 coach that make up the units definitely need to go.
Not sure what the fans like more (707s or 701s
Great video as always👍
Thanks again ENC!
@@StarlifeStudios no problem😀
I love chop chop train
Great video
Amazing
Clapham Junction is like the busiest through station in the UK there's just trains everywhere
It's full even on a strike day.
Hi there. Just wanted to ask you where you recommend trainspotting in London; I’m looking at stations where FAST trains run past and/or a variety TOC’s. Great video btw 👍!
Very Nice Video. I Always Go To Clapham Junction
Great video though!
Awesome
Glad you enjoyed Tim! 😃
Cool video
Nice
Good Train Amazing gaes
I just want to say anyone who drives the class 159 is living my 4 year old dream
Love the 159s! 😃
Great video. Couple of mine in there 😉 I'm surprised you didn't just keep the record button on and just turn the camera as its so busy haha
I could have! There wasn’t much space between trains. Always a pleasure to provide :)
I’m going on the South western railway on 19.12.2022 to Petersfield at Clapham junction.
Меня привлекает эта оквадраченная форма электричек, больше склоняет к метро. Почему поезда питаются от контактного рельса, а не от верхних проводов как в привычной железной дороге?
Still when is South Western Railway going to start allowing the Class 701 Arterios that would of been in service this summer. Clapham Junction is a great station.
Who knows? Some 701s have been accepted for use but I don’t think any driver training has begun so it won’t be until at least December that they enter traffic.
Right. At least that’s some good news about the Class 701s to start service in December. 👍
20:55 good to see a nice driver usually you dont see these in the city as they are too busy with their head down trying to spend as little time stationary as possible, also did you need any kind of permission to film there?
28:48 NO WAY I WAS ON THAT TRAIN
cool video. just don't take your eyes off! Did you shoot on a tripod or use osmo?
Thanks World of Sucks Trains, I actually don’t use any stabilisation device, this is all free hand 👍🏻
Great vid . Must get there this year. Are the staff friendly ?
Yes! 😃
SouthWestRailway trains have this thing were they have lots of branches leading to certain areas around west London and also because they meet different trains such as cross country and GWR
Not seen the whole vid yet but assuming Part 1 is the SWR side of Clapham with Part 2 being the Southern side of the station
Spot on James!
28:46 The Class 707s have to go they need to get replaced by the the class 701s
train go to 39 ;19 london waterloo and london victoria and more
New trains at speed today?
I've read that 2000 trains stop daily there does that sound about right?
That sounds about right, today there is planned to be 2101 departures.
@@StarlifeStudios yikes that's impressive sounds like a train spotters paradise nearly every class must stop there
Does anyone have any idea when the 455s are going for scrap, I rlly wanna see a 37 hauling one thanks
Its a big fleet of over 80 units and with a best case average of 1 unit swapped with a 701 per week (assuming they start replacing ASAP), they are likely to be completely replaced by December 2025. You should have plenty of time to see one. 😃
@@StarlifeStudios thanks!
Will part 2 be next week?
Yes part 2 will be next week
Part 2 will be released next week featuring platforms 11-17. If you’ve noticed the date as well, this also happened to be the last weekday of 455 use 😉
@@StarlifeStudios Great thanks, great video as always by the way
Did you see a 444019 + 444040 on 1B24?
I was wondering, did you need to get permission to film there and if so who did you ask for it??
Gatwick Airport?
I am a new trainspotter, so I was hoping that you would give me some advice🙏🙏🙏
Sure! How can I help you?
I' m new to all of this trainspotting and youtube. I' m based out of Perth, Scotland, I'm a Primary 7 student and I do trainspotting on Saturdays and Sundays. I hope that you check out my channel and give me photography advice and some do's and don'ts in Stations😊👍😊👍.
Of course. Love your home station by the way, been there are and the supermarket over the road a few times! So I can tell by your videos that you use a mobile phone - thats fine! I started using my iPhone in 2013 and its great to learn with. My advice would avoid using the zoom too much as most phone cameras zoom into the image rather than physically zoom so it can make the footage look a little blurry. As far as do and don't on stations: - avoid standing over or on the yellow line, dont use flash on cameras, avoid using tripods and most importantly - make sure you are enjoying it, if your not enjoying it then your viewers will sense this, trust me! Scotland is quite lax on trainspotters and people videoing overall so you shouldnt have too many issues with staff but if you do be sure to be kind and listen to their advice, most of the time its because they want to make sure you are staying safe. Good luck with your endeavours!
Thank you😊 Also, can you give me some reccomendation about editing tools and what types of camera to use
Thank you for repliying and I will continue to improve and these tips were very valuble and co-operative - THANK YOU SO MUCH!
7:34
7:00
Why did the 9:30 freight train stop
Could be for a driver change over, or maybe there's a red signal ahead
No services to Haslemere?
SWR still do services to Haslemere
@@maimadha ik that but there wasn't in this video
Oops mistake sorry 😢
Wow second
Still no 701s XD
I'm not sure whats going on with them, they are really needed since capacity did seem like a bit of an issue in the later hours.. There is one visible in the sidings at Clapham though
@@StarlifeStudios when will the class 701s enter service?
@@maimadha We still don't know just yet. Maybe December but still we don't know.
ITS NOT FAIR 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Loser baby
What’s no fair?
He's not first
Lmao 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
You ok??
Not a fan at all of the NEW South Western Railway livery.
I miss the old stagecoach livery with much more vibrant colours instead of the bland grey.
Nice
Thanks Lorenzo :)
