Your original review of this toy was one of my favorites to watch you were the only person I saw doing Digimon toys and fell in love and amazed by your fun personality i remember holding my gallantmon toy as you reviewed it and loving every minute along with your other reviews
watching these reviews made me realize that Tamers was not only the greatest series storywise, but that it also had some of the best Digimon designs out there
*sigh* we need either a continuation of the digimon spirits line, or *yet another* attempt at a similar line. goddangit bandai, try and keep the line going this time
@@maciejrejowski4682 Given how there were plenty of prototypes for the other figures shown and yet we've heard nothing since the last release, which itself was a repaint, I think it's safe to say the line was canceled... like most if not all Digimon toys sadly.
I've always longed for an amazing transforming Dukemon figure, and it pains me so much that they gave up on the digivolving spirits line after Dukemon was revealed.
I've been watching since those very old videos and always wanted the Japanese Gallantmon figure. My jaw dropped when you showed it. Who would've guessed wow.
Wow blast from the past! Been waiting for you to reupload the videos you deleted ages ago :') EDIT: Also wow I remember when you first posted a picture of your Japanese Guilmon figure breaking apart on Facebook... Feels good to finally see the follow up it 'deserved'
Poor Japanese Dukemon. At least you fixed him. Its surprising to see that the US version actually lasted longer than its Japanese counterpart. If I want to display a Dukemon figure.. I tend to go for my Digiwarrier. ( I don't have the D Art) Its a decent figure.. just doesnt transform! Edit: The yellow plastic degradation happened to my original Garurumon figure. His chest has gone yellow. Luckily I own another but its the one from my childhood so I kept him
That reminds me. what happened to the digivolving spirits line? the last thing i heard was about the Biyomon to Garudamon figure and I've still haven't seen a review of it
I STILL have my Digivolving Gallantmon figure-American version, of course. He's not poseable and he's poorly painted, but having a dragon knight in my collection is awesome nonetheless. Never thought that I'd see Actar nearly lose his temper. Understandable, given that Japanese figures had a reputation to uphold but the Japanese Dukemon figure literally shattered expectations.
Guilmon was definitely one of my favorite Digimon Partners in the Tamers season. And when he and Takato biomerged into Gallantmon/Dukemon for the first time, it was amazing.
So how long does it take for UV light to turn plastic into that color on the Japanese figure to turn that color? Or any figure like that? I am still worried about my figures like my Figma's, MP Transformers, Thrid Party, and Ect having that happen to them.
I remember watching the review when it came out and the Dukemon from your ShineGreyMon review and I thought that the plastic yellowing was the end of it... I was clearly wrong, I wonder if there was talks in the planning stages to change the plastic they were using so the figure didn't cripple itself over time, chrome at least doesn't functionally kill the figure only cosmetically but the plastic is definitely a deal breaker
It's also cool to mention there is also the figure rise amplified dukemon figure, although it's not the most screen accurate is just insane when you consider the price compared to ones that are basically statues (even though it's a model kit)
Fun fact gallentmon/dukemon is voiced by the same actor who does goku in japanese, she voiced gallentmon/dukemon in x evolution, tamers, and savers. But sadly she did not voice gallentmon/dukemon in cyber sleuth
Not really sure, there wasn't any kind of announcement to say that the line was dead, but every figure from the line selled well, so its weird why they would cancel it
I have this figure and while I may have broken it down to only have the galantmon mode I think it's still extremely fun as a figure. Nostalgia talking sure but I too would recommend this figure lol
You should check out the Figure-Rise Standard Dukemon. Yeah, it's a model kit and yeah it doesn't transform, but it's a fantastic version of (Duke/Gallant)mon for a pretty reasonable price.
I saw the Japanese version review recently... so suffice to say I was excited. Especially since I’m pretty sure my brother owned a broken version of this figure when I first met him. I say this solely because he only had the lance as fas as I can recall.
"If you're a Digimon fan, you need a Gallantmon figure" Literally my only important Digimon figure is a NX Edge Dukemon. I guess I am a true Digimon fan.
I kinda wish they had used the spirit line for the other seasons aside from just adventure, i'm hella sure that there were other iconic digimon from other seasons that were worth doing, like dukemon/gallantmon is one that was one that should have gotten made, i'd take it over some of the others they did, like the dorumon-alphamon figure, or the poorly done gatomon-angewomon one.
Buy two, paint one for a red Gallantmon, and one for white Guilomon so it can work with little kibble. Custom make your own tails and weapons if you want to
Hell you could even just remove some of the shit from the bad guilmon mode on the US figure, make a cloth cape (don't even need a yard of it from a fabric shop, and just paint the missing details if you developed the skills and confidence to do so and you got a decent Gallantmon mode.
Virgin Bandai Japan Dukemon. Cloth cape to hide insecurities Chrome because shiny White plastic that "won't" yellow or brittle with age Dye cast metal because why not? Only part of a four figure set Chad Bandai America Gallentmon Hard plastic cape Plastic shield that can be a stand White unpainted plastic for real collectors If you're in tamers you get a toy lol
"It's never really going to get made is it" -cries in many languages- Also, I didn't know that the chrome in the japanese version degraded as well. Mine is still holding up fine. The white plastic however... I've acquired more than one of it from various auction sites, and I can atest that while new, unopened ones pop up every now and then, they are all unfortunately yellowed, some more than others. I've tried the famous peroxide method on it, and while it does lessen the issue, it never returns the figure to the original white color. The knee joints getting brittle is also true, and in fact the very first figure I got broke there. The fact it's necessary for the transformation doesn't help, either. Imo, the "perfect" gallantmon figure would be a mix of both: the japanese mold but using the american white plastic and painted ponytail. I also like how the american version added guilmon's heel, rotating yellow shoulder pieces and pegs on the shield, all things that could have been made in the JP version as well (yes, the shield pegs do look a bit unsightly but at least you'd have no leftover parts).
This was my season 3 toy growing up and yes Guilmon mode was crap and Gallantmon also had issues but after looking at the Japanese version, I am glad young me stuck with the English one, even with it's issues.
Wow, seeing the Japanese Dukemon in that state was painfully disheartening. Something about the contrast of the chrome parts shining besides that decayed white just hurts.
At least the Dukemon mode looks pretty decent. Although I still prefer the Japanese version of this toy, I am pretty sure that thing is very expensive & hard to come by. 😅
There's also the problems that were detailed in this video. Having the knee joints of the Guilmon mode break with enough time is just plain bad, and seeing how badly it yellowed is a HUGE turn off if you ask me
@@matthewkuscienko4616 Yeah, I made the comment, before seeing the video fully. Damn, at the start, it seemed like the Japanese version looked so much better, then the US version, but over time it becomes completely messed up loosing it's colour, almost as if someone pissed all over it. Shame, considering it looked like they put a lot of effort into the toy, until it fell apart.
@@Asaylum117 It's definitely unfortunate for sure, it looked like a great figure at first glance, I agree.
