However, I have always wanted to learn French (I just love the culture and my father's side of the family is from there) but my school didn't offer it, so I'm learning it now as an adult. I'm fortunate that there's a lot of similarities between French and Spanish, not just cognate-wise but also just grammar-wise, so it doesn't feel like so much of a challenge as far as reading comprehension. Speaking French or listening to French are a completely different story lol, but I really want to learn! Good luck learning Spanish, I'm biased but I think it's such a pretty language. :)

If you grow up in a family where your dad speaks 2 different languages and your mum another one it just sticks to you like a gum and you don't really think it's something special. As a child I had to switch to 3 different languages depending on where I was and with whom I was communicating and I didn't really think it's something special. Then in school I had German and later English but to be honest I forgot most of the German as I hated it, then I started watching tv shows in English with Slovak or Czech subtitles and later switched to English subtitles and now I watch it without subtitles as I understand everything perfectly. It came to a point where I even dream and think in English. The more you are exposed to a language the more you learn, I have learned more from TV shows and movies than in school so maybe if you already know the basics try watching Spanish shows or movies, with English subtitles and it could really help you to improve your language skills.
As an Indonesian, we're fluent at at least 2 languages, either dialect language-indonesian or indonesian-english. But it's also common to be fluent in all of those three, and also additional foreign languages taught at high school (japanese, german, french, etc). This guy must have an amazing memory, I've been trying to learn Spanish for like 5 years and I can't remember what I learn. I'll get to the third lesson and forget what I learned in the first lesson.
It also might be because you don't practice it idk. That's the most important part of learning a language imo. That's why I'm most of the time in the anglo side of RUclips lol, so I can get used to hear English everyday.
yeah as mentioned, using the language is the most important thing when learning. I had french lessons for 9 years in school and at the end could barely introduce myself, then after 36 weeks in the military, having to somehow work with french speakers, i can now get by (its not pretty and not even close to being gramatically correct but people get what i am saying, even if i sound like an idiot). we basically started at a point where I understood a handful of words of french and them the same for german but by the end we could talk to each other no problem. pointing and showing at the start until some words just kinda passively come to you. and if you are using the language to get points across or work together , you dont really remember the translation, you more make an association between the word and what it represents. I suck hard at translating, i am much better off just forming a sentence in the target language. I can manage between german and english and back, because im fluent in both, so i can just take the message and relay that in the other language but in french its a lot harder for me.
Dont worry, is not about memory, learning a language is about internalizing it and well... Winging it you can confidently say that you know a language if you dont "know" the translation of a word but think "probably is like this" and being close to it. You can do it, keep up and try to join a spanish comunity/watch content creators or videos in spanish (with subtitles if you want) or one of the most efficient ones(if you play games) play games in that language.

As a Hungarian I'm sure I could win 99% of these kind of challanges if they ask me to speak a language. Literally no one speaks Hungarian other than us😂
same with kurdish google translate only recently brought out my language kurdish sorani but its not that good because kurdish has lots of types
Estonian too. Freaky language group 👽
Bulgarian too
Same like polish
@Артём Войнов I think Polish
Know only people from Poland but hehe 21 000 000 Polish people are abroad maybe that's what you mean
This is absolutely incredible.
Full respect to editor for the translation, if I were the editor i would go :
*speak french
*speak chinese
.. Etc
Awkowkowkow
5:44 And that's what I love the most about Wouter. He's so humble, and at the same time, so driven to be better.
Absolutely crazy. Mind boggling
This man is very impressive! He basically has a superpower! I think it would be so amazing to travel all over the world and be able to speak fluently with nearly everyone.
His Korean wasn’t that good but it was still impressive how he was able to speak and understand it.
Same with Spanish
Same with Italian
Agreed, I noticed a few mistakes here and there and the pronunciation didn't hit right. Was still nice to see him speak it, though.
Same with Russian
Y’all are ragging on him for making a few mistakes but you need to take into account how many languages he’s learning. It’s normal to make a few mistakes
Ok, but that mother/daughter duo spoke so many languages, like how!?
Moldovans speak Romanian and Russian. Add English, and there are 3 languages already.
@@starton4 ohhhh, interesting. So it's kinda like how I, as a Pakistani, learn Hindi by default because it's very similar to Urdu.
@@stanstantalent.5605 Well, kinda, but Romanian and Russian are totally different languages. One is Romance and the other is Slavic.
@@starton4 yes, but back in the days (sovietic Union) every Republic needed to be able to speak in Russian. It was the official language.
Because there's no moldovan language is romanian which is a latin language so it's quite easy for them to learn any other latin language. As well as russian, as it's been part of the soviet union. Thry live in the netherlands so of course they know dutch and english. Nevertheless: It's impressing
'Sorry for de lange outro.' Had me grinning. But yeah you are amazing dude!
I’d just start speaking simlish, say it’s an endangered language and watch as you lose your faith in humanity’s honesty and your own knowledge as I eat the sushi with an evil grin in my face.
and then I’m rushed to the hospital bcs I’m allergic to fish.
A God amongst mortals

FOR HYDROGEN PLATINUM IS NEEDED.sell gold buy platinum.price is low now.....
He really needs to come across a polyglot Indian!! They would give him a run for his money!! 😝😂
My thoughts exactly!!
I was thinking the same thing! Haha
Lmao that's what I was thinking
Was thinking same😅😂
I was just thinking about that
The mom with a red hat and her daughter could start their own polygot channel. They can speak so many languages too!
Molvovian and romanian are the exact same language, they're different ACCENTS. Its like saying Australian is a different language than english.
@@rickify_ They spoke other languages though...?
@@MDkilgore those were OTHET languages. But the guy making the video is completely wrong about moldovian and romanian
My mom is Moldovian and this gave me inspiration to finally learn it lol
Oh man, i wanted so bad that he would encounter someone speaking portuguese. Awesome video regardless, keep the good work man, cheers .
I would honestly be really surprised if he didn't understand portuguese
@@vepply yeah, he already speaks spanish, italian and french so going from that to portuguese isn't such a big of a leap
I wanted to him to encounter an African person. 1000% he can’t speak it 🤣
Portuguese from brazil, right?
Eu também estava à espera mas é pena que não tenha aparecido ninguém
I once surprised a Moldovan customer with my Romanian. Only a sentence or two as I was out of practice, but more than most Americans are expected to know.
I only know a few phrases in Romanian, but apparently I pronouce them flawlessly. Made my Romanian co-worker "feel like at home" lol.
Romanian and Moldavian are the same language.
I'm Brazilian and I can totally understand Romanian if they speak slowly. It is funny how a language so far away from Brazil is so similar.
Romanian is more similar to Portuguese than Spanish. I expect I can go to Romania one day to surprise people with it.
Moldavian language doesn't exist. It's romanian with a specific accent and some regionalisms.
The ''moldavian language'' was invented by Russians, it was basically Romanian with cyrillic writing.
bro this is crazy, your so good man, keep learning more languages to impress us! your arabic is surprisingly good for a foreigner btw, Its missing accent (which is how we recognize different nationalities in the middle east), but other than that, its very good and I was honestly expecting a guy to come up and say can you speak arabic, then he gets free sushi, but no, you bested that as well!. wow just wow, this is great man
I'm german and can say, that his german is very good. You hear the accent, but the choice of words and pronouciation was top. This sounds like someone who really talked to germans, very natural and only the accent gives it away.
Ja ja gut gut
Even though he wasn’t near perfect in all the languages, it’s super impressive nonetheless. I did notice (in the languages that I understood) that he sometimes used phrases or expressions that you wouldn’t use in that particular language (maybe he is translating phrases directly from one of his base languages?)
he's dutch like me, and I get what ur saying, to me it also sounds like he sometimes literally translates from dutch do other languages, but I kinda get why since he switches languages so fast it's almost impossible to change ur Grammer every time hahaha
Better than Google
Watching people's reactions is almost as interesting as hearing you cycle through different languages so quickly. Love your channel man! Hope you can visit Indonesia sometime soon and learn some Javanese and Sundanese so I don't get too much sushi from you if we ever meet ;-)
Your language skills are pretty impressive, I really wish I had the dedication to learn a third language, its cool. I was just disappointed that my mother language wasn’t featured in this video, I wanted to listen to your Portuguese 😅
Im from Greece and i can say you speak Greek very very well! And your accent is excellent. (In Greek) Είμαι απο Ελλάδα και μπορώ να πω οτι μιλάς πολύ καλά ελληνικά! Και η προφορά σου είναι εξαιρετική.
Learning different languages is one of my true passions in life. It's fantastic to see a stranger's face light up when you can converse in their native language.
Whats your method to learn in the best/ most effective way? I would love to know :)
This is so lovely! A brilliant mind, eager to connect, making people happy, letting them feel seen and/or feeding them delicious food!! What an awesome human!
It’s crazy to me how I’ve seen these RUclipsrs who speak all these languages.
50 years ago they would’ve worked for the CIA or some government agency. Now they make RUclips videos. Gosh we are so blessed in 2021. You can do and be whatever you want.
I am glad girl with Serbian language got free sushi :) You must learn Serbian then you can branch to Croatian and Bosnian so its 3 languages that use a lot of similar words. Great video my dude. Pozdrav iz Srbije
Fantasy nerds that know Sindarin, Dothraki, High Valyrian, and the Old Tongue:
My time has now come.
I was just thinking that my first attempt for a ticket would be with Sindarin lolll
The guy at the end had a point. If you had given me the name of your channel like that I would never have found it. Have simple cards ready to pass them around. Just a piece of paper, nothing fancy. Just my two cents, I admire your talent!
Beste Grüße aus Deutschland! 😉
I love how you basicaly got scammed, cause there is no thing such as moldavian, it is literary romanian. Anyway, loved the video and i am purerly amaze at how many languages you know. ❤️🇷🇴
Yea lol
Can I ask your question why Romania and Moldova separate if they are same ethnic group
@@rahuladesilva7686 Search on Wikipedia. It's a lot of history there.
@@rahuladesilva7686 I'll give you a brief description, you can look it up after. Wallachia and Moldova buffer states between hungary and the ottomans. 1600 Mihai Viteazul, first person to Unite all romanian people. 1812 Russia vs Ottoman war. 1918, romania getting the lands with romanian majority. 1936 Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, soviet union annexed bessarabia again. You can look into all of these events and understand why the same ethnic people don't live in the same country
"moldovian" is basically romanian spoken with russian accent
Crazy! We need Ed Bassmaster as mumbles to see if he also can communicate with mumbles lol
I would love to be able to speak every language... I think it's so interesting... i can speak very little of multiple languages (nothing impressive, trust me), but i can't even fathom the amount of time and effort it would take to learn them all. so many of them sound so beautiful when spoken, too...
I'd say English is the least interesting, but maybe that's because I'm so used to it lol... it's dull to me... I've never heard of anyone being impressed or loving to hear English (at least not the American dialect).
I think the ones I enjoy hearing the most are Japanese, Arabic, and some African dialects (though most, if not all others (non-english languages) , sound so wonderful to me).
I speak Portuguese and English is interesting to me, it sounds really smooth!
My main language is Spanish and I love hearing people speak English (when is not directly to me because I get nervous lol). I got a friend who really likes English too.
I'd like to learn Japanese too, to watch anime without subtitles and say 'kawaii' things 😂❤️
that's cool to hear :)
i guess it is because I'm so used to it
@@a.wadderphiltyr1559 hmm... thanks for that.
