These 3D maneuvers also work for non-pilots trying to avoid their boss in an office building. Know your escalators, elevators, hallways and storage rooms.
Correct. Avoid a horizontal turn whenever possible. Start thinking in 3-dimentions. Use the vertical plane. This advice directly applies to the work environment. Be the office "Ace"!
The drum rhythm beat at the beginning is awesome! 👍 Anyone else notice that pattern of high hat/bass drum groove? That’s no drum machine my friends…someone laid that track down! ❤️
1:06 That's the cleanest Tomcat you'll ever see. It doesn't even have the LAU missile launchers on the wing gloves. I almost didn't recognize it. In 1976 I don't think the fleet was even flying the External Fuel Tanks yet. Once introduced, they stayed. Flying a clean 1976 F-14 with gun loaded only allowed for 794 knots at Sea Level. Adding 4 AIM-7 Sparrow semi-recessed into the fuselage/belly brought the SL speed down to just 792 kts.(EDIT adding missiles decreased top SL speed by just 2 knots down to 792kts-not 794 knots as originally typed) You could add 4 AIM-9 under the gloves allowing for a 380 nautical mile combat radius with the mission lasting 1.96 hours. Keeping the 4 AIM-9 and 4 AIM-7 but adding drop tanks took launch weight from 61,326 pounds up to 65,758 pounds and extended mission radius to 564nm and mission duration 2.77 hours. the full 6 AIM-54 with guns and EFTs launched at 70,700 pounds allowed for 701 knots at SL or 975 @45,000 feet. (Edited 3/23/24 18:54 local) 792 knts, not 794kts-the point was that going frpm clean to 4 AIM-7 decreased SL top seed by just 2 knots).
13:30. This is how I usually joined the tanker. It seemed to really upset the KA-6 guys for some reason, but it was effective in beating the F-4's to get topped off.
Avoid mid - air collision at all cost , while being extremely aggressive ! Huh ? I couldn’t even See the bogey until he was right in front of the windscreen ! I’m toast - Will stay on as mechanic . 😂

Stil relevant to train for, this still applies after a merge which should be avoided but nothing goes to plan in an actual war so thats why pilots still train for the dogfight.

My office callsign was "Ghost"!
It’s called situational awareness and always being prepared.😎
The narrator makes what is essentially an aerial knife-fight sound so pleasant.

Some hot shot naval aviator, mastery of the skies and the drums!
This was my training film as a new naval aviator in Kingsville tx…1975…..great fun and education…
Wow! I haven't seen this film since the 90s!

The Tomcat was a big girl, but she was beautiful. Made the Hornets look positively tiny and ugly in comparison.
It's nice to know that snort actually watched these videos
We want more vidoes like this!

Очень интересное видео. 👍
TOP GUN
"HEY, LANAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"DANGER ZONE!"
🥴🍺 "I can fly. I'm a pilot."
Please sir provide us all the cool particulars of those neat drones in dog fights. Thank you Sir!
Generally parasitic drag increases with airspeed. With a few exceptions. Usually at higher than Mach 1 airspeeds.
POV: Its just a warthunder tutorial

Still some of them still approached 1:1 thrust/weight at low fuel.

13:20 Do a barrel roll!!
Is this testable?
A - 4 is not a fighter aircraft , But it is a very good aircraft .
Was a great DACT aircraft.
But depending on the enemy you can absolutely fight them in the air.
Falklands? @@Lorian667
If the A4 is not a fighter ask the NAVY Top Guns why they use them to play the role of aggressors.
The A-4J is a heck of a bird. Single person apron maintenance. Solid quality.
Who narrates this? I know that voice. Is it Peter Thomas?
My 1st Comment
Kudos- That was a good one! I’m interested in your second comment as well
I hope RUclips deletes your comment

Can't understand why so many historical videos must be wasted by those running time black window...
Replaced by shoot and scoot and now stealth and electronic warfare

Yea the tomcat and the phoenix kinda set the tone for bvr killing. But the cat could still fight close in too.
