Great review over this product. When I first come across seeing it on Amazon, I immediately had my doubts because back on my LCI E90 I also bought a variation of these Depo tail lights. And sure enough, I have had just as many issues as you have on your G30 tail light. Furthermore, the inner tail light piece uses a hold down clip that you screw on to keep it in place, it's a very bad design because the entire assembly tends to pop out towards the outer tail light piece. It becomes unbearable at times, and I developed muscle memory so that every time I open and close the trunk I would put my hand on the slipping inner tail light and push it back in while closing the trunk down. But it wasn't until I got really fed up with the accumulation of water condensate that I got rid of it in the trash can. So yeah, those of you who's wondering if this is a good mod, my vouch is "no" don't do it, no matter how eerily handsome it appears; it'll just ruin your lust for lighting upgrades.
Thanks for this post. I’m just going to wait a year or so to just get a 2022 m5 maybe even 2023. But this ain’t worth the $500 + install
On the oem ones flickering also happens but that's because they need to be coded. What are the price on these? You can get oem ones foe around $1200

Flickering has to do with the wiring and voltage setting in the Software. I got the OEM Euro spec Version, coded with esys. So far no problems at all.

Absolutely my brother. The 550 is a beautiful ride! Yes I actually have installed a few with the harness which reroutes where the cables sit. Very simple plug and play.

So no plug and play harness exists for the OEM lights. The Amazon ones come with the adapter. The oem needs coding but the Amazon do no not.
