Hy my dear, im from Switzerland and speak not very good english but i must say, i unterstand your english and support very good and i like your videos. 😍
You have opened up my creativity to things I have never seen before. I am so grateful I found you. I couldn't tell you how much I have learned just watching your editorials. You're like an online teacher for the creative arts for a lot of us. 😊
Hi Angie I'm new to cricut i came across your tutorials on RUclips and so glad I did they are so simple to follow and easy to do I particularly loved the tutorial for the foil as I have just purchased the foiling tool also loved the wood burning tutorial and cant wait to try both projects.
I have a Scorch Marker. They are great. No more burnt fingers. Saw it on Designed to the Nines with NataLee. Perfect tool to add to your crafting repertoire. I love mine. Boards look great! Thx for sharing.💥
Thank you so much for this video! I've always wanted to know how this was done. I just got a Maker and I'm learning a lot from you and others. Can't wait to try this. Thanks again for explaining step by step!!
Thanks Angie! I was planning on making this for my husband for Father's Day- he bought me a wood burning tool for Xmas. I'll use my Cricut to cut out the stencil- thanks for the tips!
Great Tutorial!! Thank you. I saw that the Amazon Scorch Marker also allows you to brush the ink onto the design. What do you think about brushing it on vs "marking"?? I also saw Torch Paste on Amazon. What do you think about using the paste vs the marker?
Really cool technique! It would be great on so many projects.Thank you for the great instructions. I love the quotes you gave as examples also. As always I appreciate your time and talent.
@@AngieHolden yeah, that was a dumb question. The more I read and researched, I learned you needed a heat gun with very high temps, and then the lightbulb went off.
Hello Amgie, i am a first timer on your videos which are grate by the way,....thank God there is not verry expencive tools to use. I was getting ready to use my burning pen lol. I have a small project my sister asked me to do for my brother in las tombstone. Question,...where can I find a Scorching Marker...what do they ran about???...thank you soo much.
This is Tri again. another question, which material make the burning work? is it the vinyl or the marker? Is the vinyl work only as a stencil? thank you Angie.
Would this work for a handwritten recepie on a cutting board? Like how small is too small to be legible. I see a lot of people laser engraving, but I don't have the money for that.
Do you seal the entire board or just over the wood burned area? Why do you have to seal? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but it's wood burned in, I wouldn't think it would come off over time, or does it if not sealed? Thank you for another great tutorial for a really fun project!
I just came across this video searching for Father's Day gifts. What an awesome project! I ordered all the wood supplies and marker to make it this week. I just tried to open the file link in Cricut and it comes up blank. Any ideas how I can get it to open properly?
It will definitely say food safe. Generally a shellac is a good option. Google food safe sealer and there a bunch of options! Home Depot or Lowes should have what you need.
For beginners where could I buy a reasonable circuit machine? I want to do tshirts, so what materials should I buy to start? Last but not least, can you do designs on glass products?
Do you apply any varnish or food safe oil? My complaint is after i did as tutorial recommend, scorch marker company, it smeared burning area n messed up my board.
@@AngieHolden did you see any bleeding more on the bamboo than the other wood materials? I read somewhere that the bamboo is not recommended but your boards looks great in the video!!
I see the scorch marker is available on Amazon UK. The description on it says you need 375 degrees F for it to work. I don’t have a heat gun here, and not sure I want one, but I do have the easy press mini. Would that work? It gets that hot, I think.
@@AngieHolden i found a video of someone who used an Easy Press Mini. She did not say what temperature, but held the mini on the item for 60 seconds. (I would guess the highest temp it has.)But the inventors of the Scorch pen have a channel and have a video showing putting things in an oven- preheat the oven to 350, and bake the items for 10-15 minutes (you watch and decide by how dark you want/see the marks getting). Oh yes and the Scorchpen channel shows using it on paper.
@@AngieHolden I was thinking the same thing, watching the guy use a super hot heat gun with paper. I am thinking of making Christmas cards with a nativity scene, using the scorch pen on the a-frame parts and the crèche part, and colors for the people and animals. The mini Easy press would give a lot of control, I think.

Thank you!
Have fun!
Me too!!!!
Thank you for sharing all your Cricut wisdom. I was wondering, why do you seal the woodburned areas? And what do you seal the areas with? Thank you.
That is what is recommended by the manufacturer of the maker. Use a food grade sealer. Shellac is a great option.
Wow love that must try. Thanks!
Hope you enjoy!
Absolutely love your videos....always sooooo helpful THANK YOU👏🏾
You are so welcome!

I like the marker side but yes you can use the brush side. I have seen the paste but have not used it!
This is so awesome
Okay that is really neat. Cricut makes an engraving tool though, would it not be easier to engrave? Do you have a video of engraving wood?

Yes! Yes you can!
This is so cool. Thank you so much for sharing😇videos are AWESOME
Glad you like them!
Angie . . I love you sooo much!! Question .. why do you need to remove vinyl before heating with gun?
The vinyl would literally melt into the wood at these temperatures.
@@AngieHolden yeah, that was a dumb question. The more I read and researched, I learned you needed a heat gun with very high temps, and then the lightbulb went off.
Can you put a link to the wood sealer you used?
Sorry. Any shellac should work for food safe. Home Depot or Lowes has food safe options.
She used Americana Acrylic Sealer Finish

Can you use regular vinyl for this project, I have a Maker. Thank you for your great videos! You are an awesome teacher. 😍
Yes of course!
This is Tri again. another question, which material make the burning work? is it the vinyl or the marker? Is the vinyl work only as a stencil? thank you Angie.
The marker makes it work the vinyl is just a stencil.
Would this work for a handwritten recepie on a cutting board? Like how small is too small to be legible. I see a lot of people laser engraving, but I don't have the money for that.
I have done some pretty fine lines however they may be lighter in color then the bolder areas.
For a cutting board, what type of wood would you recommend?
Any real wood should work.
Do you seal the entire board or just over the wood burned area? Why do you have to seal? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but it's wood burned in, I wouldn't think it would come off over time, or does it if not sealed? Thank you for another great tutorial for a really fun project!
I would just seal the wood burned area. The sealing is recommended by the marker manufacturer to get the longest life from your project.
@@AngieHolden ok, awesome, thank you for your reply!! 😁
THANK YOU
With the scorched wood can it be painted afterwards or only stained? Also, can you do scorching on wood that is whitewashed?
If you paint it, you will paint over the wood burning. Any paint will affect the outcome of the project.
I use a recipe instead of a marker and it turns out great!
Could you share the recipe? Please?
Thanks for the tip!
I would love the recipe too! Thanks!
I would love that recipe also 😊
Brilliant! I had ever thought will be that easy. Questions : Do I have to use the gold colour vinyl? Thanks ☺️
You can use ANY color vinyl with projects like these as you will be throwing it away in the end.

@@AngieHolden yes I was. I will try it on my Macbook. Thank you! 😊
Can you eat on it? Does the chemicals from the pen wash off? Burn off? I want to do a big project on a pizza paddle, would that be safe?
They recommend sealing with a food safe sealer if you will be using to eat on it or put food over the burned area.
Can you please do another one with a food sealer for putting food on The cutting board
They make Shellac that is food safe.
@@AngieHolden can you please make a separate video showing how to do a food sale shallac cutting board?
Would you be able to use bamboo labels? For herb names ?
Sure!
Will this work with the Dollar Tree vinyl? Since I'm tossing it anyhow.
I have used that vinyl very little. I have on my list to really use it and do a comparison. It may work for this though?
I use duct tape for transfer tape
Which vinyl would you use for the maker?
Any permanent vinyl should work.
Which sealer did you use? Also which sealer do you recommend for food safe sealer? Thank you!
Generally a shellac is a good option. Google food safe sealer and there a bunch of options! Home Depot or Lowes should have what you need.
Why do you use Smart vinyl ...is there any reason you can’t use everyday removable cricut vinyl ?
You can use everyday vinyl. The smart vinyl is for the Joy and you can cut without a mat and longer than 12”.
You can use any vinyl!
This is great! Can the stencils be reused? Also what food safe wood sealer do you recommend?
You really can't reuse the stencils. I always recommend Shellac for food safety.
@@AngieHolden thank you.
@@AngieHolden where would you find shellac?
Thank you! Love the way you explain everything!
Happy to help!
What food-safe sealant do you recommend?
I usually use a butcher's block sealer.
Is there anyway to make a stencil that can be reused multiple times?
You can use a stencil film and cut it on a Cricut.
Is Cutting Board Oil enough to seal it?
I would use something like shellac.
Unique
What type of wood works best with the scorch marker?
16:42 I discuss wood types
Can you use this on wood that has a finish on it already?
It doesn't work great in my experience.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. I love how clearly you speak and very detailed. Where did you get the cubby shelving in the background?
They are from Walmart but they are several years old.
What food safe sealer do you recommend and how do you know if it is food safe?
It will definitely say food safe. Generally a shellac is a good option. Google food safe sealer and there a bunch of options! Home Depot or Lowes should have what you need.
how long does it take to dry? thank you
Not long? I probably waited 30 minutes to an hour but I had something else to do.
For beginners where could I buy a reasonable circuit machine? I want to do tshirts, so what materials should I buy to start? Last but not least, can you do designs on glass products?
Only in stores you will find them now. Yes you can glass etch with vinyl

Amazing video, thanks so much! Is Smart Vinyl compatible with the Explore Air 2?
No it is not.
@@AngieHolden does it have to be smart vinyl then? Because the title says Wood Burning with any Cricut Machine?

You should add something food safe. Shellac is a good option.
@@AngieHolden what kind? Spray or brush on? Found many options but sorry still lost😭
Hi! Im still learning some options on Cricut so quick question why did you choose attach instead of slice?
Once you save, slice cannot be undone. If attach will do the job, I always use it so I can undo later if I need to.
@@AngieHolden ahhh makes sense thanks for clarifying 👍
What would you seal it with? (There's no link) And would you put the sealant over the whole board, or just the words?
You can just put it over the words. I like Polycrylic spray or brush on generally. For food safe, a shellac is a good bet.
I want to stream online and I have a iPad, cell and laptop. What would you recommend me useing for me to stream me making things on my cricut?
Just go for it! You can just make an account on RUclips or IG or TikTok and go live.

does it bleed through the stencil?
Not with the methods I have shown.
