For ages I struggled as I have light olive skin but looked dreadful in yellow-based foundations until another RUclipsr said Olive skintones are actually Cool. I have very pale blue-grey eyes and used to wear brown/orange/yellow eyeshadows but have now switched to greys/taupe brown and darker purples which look great-thanks. I also used to wear nude or orange-red lipsticks and people used to say I looked sick and ghostly but have also switched to true reds/tomato reds and crimsons and I look a million times more healthy. Thanks for helping me! 🥰👄💖
I'm soooo glad to see this video! All you ever see is warm warm warm these days, you know?
Actually, many Cool (True) Winters do have yellow overtones to their skin (even if their undertone is cool), so need a yellow-based foundation! So one has to go by one's individual skin characteristics what comes to foundation. But good that you counter the all-too-common advice of "balance dark eyes with nude lips", as that's not really what Winters should do at all! (If anyone, actually.) :)
This..this is completely me..i have pale olive skin with yellow overtone (the yellow isn't warm but simply pale) .The camera isn't able to capture that yellow cast i have. White gold look better on me that yellow gold and silver. I have more neutral undertone and yellow overtone. I am having a hard time finding foundation :-(
I have a yellow overtone and I think it's why as a cool winter, one of my best colours is a green.
Good point on the blush! I'm a cool winter too and blush just transforms my face!
When I was a teenager I used to copy Britney Spears looks and nude lipsticks looked awful on me. Now I have found some cold nude that doesn't look awful but I look better with a red or fuchsia lipstick.
It was a bit shocking for me discovering that I looked artificial wearing nude colours and I looked fresh and natural with a grey eyeshadow and a fucsia lipstick 😊
this video was awesome! so thank you for that!! :)
Thanks so much for the information...I do look good in the coral, lime and hot pinks...but the neutrals really just wash out on me....that helps me decide that I am a bright winter...thanks👍💃
I am a cool winter, but I tan easily in the summer! I am so frustrated!
Same 😕 I wish I had a lighter skin tone because it looks so elegant and goes good with everything
Oh wow. You're officially my favorite. You just pointed out everything I think that looks the best on me, I'm definitely trying out True Winter instead of Dark from now on. So many important details, I think you're the only one who talks about it in such depth. Thank you lots!!!
Oh, and especially the part of drawing too much attention when wearing all black! I've always heard/noticed that about myself. I seriously cannot thank you enough for such great info!
+Ana K thank you so much! I'm glad that you're coming closer to figuring out your best colors! I'll be doing a Dark Winter Makeup video soon, maybe that'll offer some insight as well :)
Hello dear Vera,
i really like your videos :)
thank you very much!
i was wondering if you could explain the difference between a true winter and a soft winter?
(maybe you even could do a video on soft winter? :)) )
have a nice day
+chava katie sure thing :)
What season are you? My hair is a bit darker but my eyes are exactly like yours.
I love yellow eyeshadow though
Hi Vera, I've really been enjoying your videos! Will you please do soft summer? Thanks!
Ok! I'll make it my next one :)
Hi Vera. Can you help me? I am cool winter, but I use henna for my hair, so I have dark reddish brown hair. It is not the best shade for my type I know. Which products should you offer me to balance this hair disaster? Thank you and congratulations for your videos.
+Tamás Mosonyi oh dear, I'm sure it's not a "disaster" as you put it :) I, myself, have had henna mishaps in the past that turned my hair orange.. What I can tell you is that your hair color doesn't have as big of an effect as clothing does. This is because it sits above your face and so color is not reflected onto your skin (unlike a shirt, which causes light to bounce off onto your face). Therefore, keep wearing the best colors for your type. If, however, you want to draw attention away from the ruddiness of your hair, then avoid wearing greens; green is a complementary color to red, and so will highlight it. By keeping your colors on the neutral side (grey, taupe, navy), you can downplay the effects of henna until it begins to fade. Hope this helps!
I know this is a bit late but you coupd also add indigo and amla to youf henna mix to create a dark brown dye for your hair without red tones.
Hi Vera, I know I am a winter...back in the day I was told that...but now there are many differtent categories of winters which is confusing..I'm trying to figure out if I am a true clear bright winter...I have medium blue eyes..which can change but mostly are blue and my hair is a cool color of medium brown...I look really good in black and true red and royal blues and emerald greens. I kind of am thinking I am a clear bright winter...how can I know for sure? Love you videos and your great advice....Thanks.
Hi +Linda Gonzalez The colors that you mentioned can apply to any of the winters. Instead, try to see which is most relevant to you: Bright Winter shares many of its brightest colors with Clear/Bright Spring, such as lime green, coral and hot pink. They look best in vibrant and saturated colors. Cool Winter's colors are devoid of any hint of yellow or orange, with colors that are calmer and cooler. They look best in cool, somewhat neutral colors such as navy, orchid, soft blue and taupe. Eye and hair color can be disregarded, as any season can have any hair/eye color....what matters is how your skin responds to color :)
I was shocked how much taupe suited me. I’ve been told I’m a winter and also Clear or Bright, but I definitely don’t look my best in coral. It makes me think I’m more Cool with a lean to Bright at the cool end.
Hi Vera! I'm cool winter type. Are those eye shadow colour good for me too, becouse I have light green eyes?
+hippimamma Absolutely! All cool and silvery shades of green, blue, purple will work :)
+Stylist Vera Thank you!
