I love looking at Alex's doe eyes whenever he talks about his passion for climbing. Its so mesmerizing. You can say I am crushing on this man but yeah I kinda sometimes just watch his videos so I could look into his eyes
His level of focus and mental fortitude is literally superhuman. He should be on Mount Rushmore. I don’t think enough people realize how impossible it is for him to do what he did. I still can’t wrap my head around it.
Dimitar for me I’d far rather go on extreme hikes or backcountry cross country backpacking trips to enjoy nature than do something so technical and specific like rock climbing, it’s incredibly badass but to me it’s a bit of a neurotic obsessive thrill seeker sport and it’s just one tiny way of experiencing nature. It’s similar to a skateboarder doing a really extreme trick, it’s just tricks and technicality and personal prowess. That being said it’s incredibly badass and I have great respect for these climbers skill and find it very entertaining to watch and learn about.
@@turkey4957 tricks?? how ignorant is that, there is nothing tricky inside climbing, its lot of hard work and power, years and years, thats the nature of climbing, push yourself, explore your limits, not tricks for the camera man
My hands and feet both sweat!! I also get that fight or flight rush. I don't know how he hasn't fallen. Here's the thing with free solo'ers, just a matter of time. John Bachar free solo'd for 20 years, then fell. He was in his 50's and had been complaining that week of weakened grip and muscle strength in his arms. I think a false sense of security sets in, especially after 20 years of doing it. But again, if a hold breaks off, you're done.
not so much a false sense so much as a when will my day come. alex even said the day he losses the Passion for it he will stop, the great thing about these type of people is they often dont lose the passion for it. people who swim with sharks might be happy to die to a shark in their old age. i think if alex no big deal hannold fell of a rock when hes 50 he would do so with a smile ;)

Yes. I think there are a number of great climbers that easily possess the necessary climbing ability but the mental ability? It doesn't seem so. Unfortunately I was watching the video by skipping it, and missed this part when he advised against it. So as soon as I watched it, I went climbing it. Fell from 10 meters, broke my back and two legs. I was alone. Couldn't move, laying on one rock exposed to the sun. My skin was fried. Soon vultures came hunting and landed next to me. Two of them started eating my leg. Fortunately I could move and manage to scare them for a bit. Along with the vultures came a wolf and a bear. The smell of the blood splashed on the rocks from my wounds must have attracted them. I started screaming in an attempt to scare them, but that did little to nothing. They became aggravated and started attacking me. In an inhuman attempt, I managed to lift myself up, and tried to escape but they were blocking my way. The only way up was the rock behind me, from which I fell. I started climbing with one leg slowly. The wolf and the bear were down on the ground and I was above them. Safe for now. I continued climbing. The blood on my hands helped me climb as it was sticking to the hot rock and helped me not to fall. Long story short, I managed to climb it, and I pulled myself up. For my surprise the wolf and bear were waiting for me there. Waiting for me. I stood on the edge of the cliff, with nowhere to go. They charged at me, I moved back a little, and fell... Luckily my healthy leg was caught in the rope that was hooked to the rock. And I was swinging upside down. During the fall I hit my head and got unconscious apparently. I woke up in a hospital two days ago, and decided to share my experience and what this video caused me.
