This mug has solved a major issue in my household. My wife gets up a couple of hours before me and goes to work, before going she always makes me a cup of tea. I used to wake up to a cold cup of tea before buying this mug. This mug may not be for everyone but if it fits your way of life then it is very worthwhile
You can use Oxi clean the non scented kind to clean the stains out of the cup. The main ingredient in Oxi clean is Sodium percarbonate you can "sometimes" purchase a 5 pound bag of Sodium percarbonate on amazon for under 15 dollars. One teaspoon of Sodium percarbonate should clean the cup, you might need more Oxi clean as it's a mix of Sodium percarbonate and Soda ash. Sodium percarbonate is used in the Brewing Industries for cleaning equipment. Thanks for the review of the mug.
I use it and enjoy the fact that if I walk away from the coaster for 30 min or so my coffee stays hot. I just keep the coaster plugged in so I do not have battery issues. For you real cheapskates ;) and want to use that 15 oz mug just get the VOBAGA coffee warmer that has 3 heat settings w/auto shut-off after 6hrs for around $25 on Amazon. The only thing is you have to use a flat bottom cup. I have found that only glass comes flat bottomed and 15oz(kinda beaker style) also on Amazon or pottery mugs are flat but usually 8oz. It works great but you can't walk away and keep your coffee hot. I love the Ember for that reason and don't use the app at all. Yes it's pricey but I'm worth it!
Unless I missed something you were simply allowing the coffee to cool down to check the accuracy of the built-in thermometer. Why not use the mug to heat up a drink to a specified temperature and then check battery usage and accuracy? Isn’t that what it’s for?
I've had the chance to try one of these and I know someone who has used one for a year now. It really is a cool concept and works well. I believe they've upgraded the battery life a little since this video. My problem with it and the reason I'm not buying one is that the cup itself sucks. The handle is uncomfortable to hold. Sort of sharp edges and uninviting to grasp. All it would take for me is if they'd give some options in terms of cup design and I'm in.
I know this is way late, but I have heard that a hydroflask 32oz tumbler lid fits the 14oz version of this mug. I have both shipping from amazon to confirm, but if so that should improve battery life...
My Ember mug keeps reading empty even though it's full of coffee. I've tried everything including what Ember suggested, but the cup is not working anymore. I would never recommend this mug.
Can you explain the battery a bit. It dies in an hour of keeping the drink warm? Then if you were just to charge it, how long does it take to change to 100% (not heating anything).
Hi, can I ask you a question? Will it keep the coffee hot or just warm? Because personally I enjoy coffee at the temperature where it's a bit hot and you have to sip it like hot tea or something like that, i don't want it to be the temperature of tomato soup where it's like warm.
@@jettlash1000 Love your review…just subscribed! I have the white mug also and have tea stains but didn’t see any suggestions on how to clean. I am using baking soda to scrub and soak…now heating the liquid it up on the coaster to give it a boost. Is baking soda too abrasive for the mug?
I have this mug. Someone was selling it for $35. I bought it. It originally sells for $100. I do keep the "coaster" plugged in and the cup on top. It has a small capacity. It is not worth more than perhaps $25. I also have a plug in coaster from Brookstone that I can sit any mug on. Flat bottom mugs work best. It's hard to find flat bottom mugs, so I bought the Ember. I would not recommend the Ember.
@@Y2Kr4SHM4N why are you quoting "other" mugs? I never said "other." Please re-read my comment. I said I have a Brookstone plug in heater coaster that is universal and fits "any" mug. It was way cheaper than the Ember.
I get mixed results from this product. Very inconsistent results. When it works, it’s great. When it works, I can only drink one cup of hot coffee battery dies. Luckily I got a good deal on line, and didn’t pay full price. I’ve had to reset it several times for it to work properly. I cannot in all honesty recommend it.
Me either. Avoid buying this product. Several issues with it not the least of which being its battery is not fast charging and the included cup saucer is not useable… not really… as it comes adorned with a “water damage warning label” due to its exposed recharging metal contacts. Lastly, the cup itself cannot be used in microwave due to its inherent electronics/battery present within. Caveat Emptor applies.

This was a super helpful review. Glad to see one that isn't just an unboxing, but a review after longer use.

Excellent feedback, thank you!!
Thanks for the tip on oxi clean…how is your mug holding up? Would you recommend baking soda?

I could agree with the handle not being the most comfortable. I am really surprised that mine is still working perfectly years later.
Thanks for the helpful review, I had been looking into getting one for some time
Hi, thanks for the review. Is your mug the 10oz or 14oz size?
Thanks for this! Was considering an ember, but not after this review!
You’re welcome.
I meant saucer plate not plugged in charge the mug? Thanks Mark
Interesting side to it. It is difficult to charge and heat at same time.
There is an updated 2nd version in copper and travel mug.
.....wish it had a lid to cover the mug .....

The review quality is toooo damn high for an amateur. Thanks, I'm gonna buy one.
thanks so much for the review jettlash really appreciate it
You’re welcome!
So the coaster doesn’t have to be plugged?
I love my Ember cup!
Me too, mine is still going strong this many years later. I use it twice a day.
My Ember mug keeps reading empty even though it's full of coffee. I've
tried everything including what Ember suggested, but the cup is not
working anymore. I would never recommend this mug.
That's really odd. Have you tried it with a different device?
Great review, thanks.
Can you explain the battery a bit. It dies in an hour of keeping the drink warm? Then if you were just to charge it, how long does it take to change to 100% (not heating anything).
I’d say about an hour and a half. I usually take a sip and put it back on the coaster.

@infamousreee I just bought the new 18oz version, and it is def hot enough! lol But thank you for the reply!
@@Commander_HW There is no 18oz version but that's cool...
@@gpeaes shit i mean the 14oz black one. lol.
Is anyone else having the ceramic coating on the inside of the mug wear away a bit?
Mine has started to show more wear now that I'm drinking tea. A black mug would be better at hiding the staining as well.

Hi Daniel, have you found a solution to clean the mug or try using baking soda?
Can confirm, it will lose charge on the coaster because it can’t charge and heat at the same time. It will also shutdown after 2 hrs of inactivity.
Will the sauce charge the mug when it's not plugged in? Thanks
I hope you grow man
Thank you sir!
ussayyed hussain I hope u grow up too 😉

What do you mean “other” mugs? The ember charger coaster ain’t going to do anything for other mugs.

Roxane IluvmyGSD I apologise for my confusion.
i would like to buy the T-shirt. a link will be great.

The mug does not charge when the mug is heating. It's a design choice. They don't want us using the saucer while drinking. It shouldn't get wet. 🤣

Crappy drip filter coffee is just as bad hot or cold.
Good vedio keep it up 😎
Thanks!
Who takes over an hour to drink one cup of coffee though
Because you take a sip and get distracted.
I also use it for tea when I go to bed. Still have hot tea come morning.
Little late on this video. But seeing the little hand turn on the coffee maker was hilarious. :D Not sure if everyone caught that.
Haha. Nice...
Just No. buy a good thermo mug.
Just no. Waiting 2 hours to drink coffee is no fun.
instead of [paying 480 for a crappy electronic warming coffee mug I jsut pop the coffee cup back int he microwave for 25 sec
Phuck Hugh ah that’s nice, you probably don’t have AirPods

It’s one of those novelty items, but I really like it. I am a little picky when it comes to coffee/tea temperatures though too.
