The insane treatments for Kaiser Wilhelm's withered arm

Born with neurological damage to the nerves connecting the spinal cord to the left arm and hand, the young Prince Wilhelm underwent several treatments for the corrsponding withered and paralysed arm.
These treatments ranged from the measured and useful - physio and massages - to the downright bizare - electroshock therapy and even wrapping the arm in freshly slaughtered hare carcasses.
The treatments lasted for years and put an enormous amount of strain on young Wilhelm and his entire family. In later life he would grow ashamed and nervous about his arm and had low self-esteem. He would take great care to hide his disability in photos; on his wedding day he confessed to a friend that he always thought he would never marry because no woman could ever love him due to his arm.
Ever since WWI, historians and psychologists (inc. Sigmund Freud) have debated how much the Kaiser's unusual and frankly, arrogant and bullish behaviour prior to the war were avoidable causes of it. His childhood and the impact it had on his later behaviour play a central part in this analysis.

The condition kaiser wilhelm had was "erb's palsy"...it is somewhat common.
