I believe the reason repotting in too big of an upgrade can shock the plant is because the excess soil retains too much water and the plant's roots are not developed enough to absorb it, so it can harbour bacteria and cause rot
Wow! Such an amazingly beautiful String of Pearls! I've never seen such a full plant. Thanks for sharing and for the info. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
I came here as I have roots coming out of the 6cm pot and looks like I should repot it. Perhaps because it’s a young and tiny plant the roots have reached the bottom but they are coming thru the drainage holes
I used a dermal to cut all the way around the plastic pot when I repotted my string of pearls, worked out so well. I just took the pot half’s off away from the soil.
My mum just bought me one of these to try and save after she got it cheap at a garden centre. It’s in this awful tall rectangular pot and it’s defo in need of some tlc and a new pot, hopefully it will pick up soon
I just bought this, very tiny one, dirt cheap, and when I got it home, I realized it's in really bad soil, it's really hard and packed, and I'm gonna need get rid of that soil, any advice?
I'm new to plants and I didn't know to use cactus soil, so I used indoor plant soil to replant a string of pearls. Should I replant it again in the proper soil?
I would just make sure it drains well. Maybe put some rocks in the bottom. I’m not an expert though, just responding bc I see that no one else has! Hope this helps
Are they fungus gnats from overwatering? You can wait until the soil is dry before watering, the larvae living in the soil will die. Or can get her a carnivorous plant friend :)
How would you be able to remove them from the terracotta without breaking the pot?

I have never seen this plant here in germany. She is very beautiful! I wish one day I found some of these. 🤗
I know that this comment is hold, but I live in Germany and I easily found it. I guess that in 3 years a lot changed:)
Thanks for the pot cutting tip! Kept me from loosing more pearls knocking the whole thing upside down.
They have shallow roots. The roots would never reach the bottom. People plant them in shallow pots.
I agree. I think that pot is far too large for that plant.
