Funny you should say that. I'm actually planning on adding rolling in an update. It should be possible on NES, but I can only imagine the crazy stuff people could do with an actual SMB PC port.

It's not possible because Mario's running and walking animation are the same. Maybe in Mario 3 or World where that isn't the case
