I'm glad Daphney chose to stay close and explore near the pen and stay near Duke.😊 It isn't over yet so keep them close and short jaunts out. We kept our pea fowl together for 3 months, they were getting along smoothly. But the third time we let them out it was horrible, the pen hens flew about 3/4 mile away and got up high in a Cottonwood tree. No among of coaxing could get them out of that tree. 🙄😒 the peacocks tried calling and enticing them but it was like they knew it was jailbreak time. The 2peacocks perched in the Maple on a low branch about four ft off the ground. As the Sunset we went inside hoping to comeback out an hour later to get all back in the run... When we returned Fred and Barney we content in the run but the pen hens were gone. We searched for a week within about 5 miles of our coops/run but we never found them. 3 months later we got an additional 4pea hens and kept them in for 8wks. Slowly let them out and these 4 pea hens are so grateful to be at our place. The peacocks are doing their best displaying of their feathers. I think Pebbles, Ebony, Pearl and Helen love the peacocks now ... We have 3 more months before they will start laying eggs I hope they each will bond with Fred and Barney. That way we can get a few more pea fowl and share with our community. Thanks for sharing you day with us.
Oh my goodness, I’m sorry your first ones decided to leave 😕 But how great that the last 4 have stayed! And I hope y’all get lots of little babies to share! 🤗
Brand new subscriber from farthest northeast AL here. THANK YOU for not nailing the duck crossing sign on a tree. Nailing into a tree is very detrimental to the tree. Love Your Show!!
So happy for you that Daphne decided to stay close and with Duke. Maybe Duke wasn’t that into Duchess so she flew the coop. Duke seems to really be into Daphne. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 Blessings to y’all 😊🙏🏼💕
Boy that was scary! Glad to see we can exhale in relief♥️🦚🦚 congrats!! Sad story... another farm had a pair and the peahen laid eggs in their field(they didn't know) and accidentally met her end when the field was cut. They are very good at camoflageing.
@@mistydawnfarm yeah they were heartbroken. They were able to find 2 peahens for the male. Hope all is going well with yours. Such beautiful birds and I love the prehistoric noises they make lol!

Duchess had enough of being cooped up with Duke. She said I am outta here!
Haha, she did!
I think you’d call indeterminate gender “peafowl”.
Boy that was scary! Glad to see we can exhale in relief♥️🦚🦚 congrats!!
