I went to their concert during February of last year days after they had dropped their new album, their concert was perfect but was just missing this song. Ik its a cover but it's so well done that doesn't sound like one in the first place.
My very best friend in the whole world played piano and keyboards while I played guitar. We were a great fit when we played together and we jammed a lot for many years. He was just so greatly talented…..he just had such a unique style and natural feel for it. It was an honor to have known him for so many countless memories. He died tragically (2016) and I’ve never been the same since. The keyboard work in THIS version by Inhaler is so stylistic and I KNOW Dave would have greatly appreciated to hear it if he could have. I got chills hearing this version. With this song, Inhaler just took me back to a place I have buried deep down in me and that I rarely visit. Sometimes I miss Dave too much and can’t allow myself to think of him. I feel guilty about that. I guess I’ve never really dealt with the loss of him. I can’t imagine that I ever will. He was my brother in every sense of the word. His headstone reads “The song is over, but the music lingers on”. It’s a very true and fitting statement for him, and at the same time it’s a reality I don’t think I can ever be settled with.
I do prefer that Inhaler mode of youthful energy. Understand the drive for exploration of various paths, still why don't you give yourself another 20-something years when, if ever, you happen to get middle age spleen.;) And, however hard I try, I can't get over your music, which is like good companion you discover, and rediscover bit by bit.
