I feel sorry for Lauren Zuke, I personally DM’d her about the abuse she suffered under Rebecca Sugar and what caused her to leave the show and this is what she told me: When she first was accepted to be on staff for Steven Universe she literally described it as being the happiest moment in her life. All was fine and dandy until she started making Lapidot subtext. It was commonly know around the office because she’d always have her own Lapidot drawings strewn across the desk. One day Rebecca came in with a pissy mood and slapped all of the contents of Zuke’s desk on the floor and told her “Fuck with my show again and you’ll regret it, freak. You’re lucky I even allowed you to work here.” Zuke, in tears reported it to HR and Rebecca got a reprimanding. All was good and fine for a while but there was very visibly a “sourness” to Lauren and Rebecca’s relationship. One day, Rebecca offered to take Lauren out for lunch. Zuke assumed this was an attempt to bury the hatchet but she later learned how wrong she was. Rebecca drove her and Zuke up to an empty parking lot, got out of the car, went around like she was opening the door for her, and beat the shit out of her while she was still buckled in. After a few more hits Rebecca stopped and asked Zuke if she wanted to talk to HR again. Zuke started screaming so Rebecca decided to beat the shit out of her again. Rebecca then proceeded to dial HR on her cellphone and place it up to Zukes face and made Zuke say everything was right between them. After than incident Lauren Zuke immediately left the crew and never looked back. I’m happy for her now.
I know this is basically a copypasta but I remember Lauren's twitter getting deleted atleast after every lapis episode(if she didn't make a new one) that she did the storyboard for because the fans would literally harass her so much because she was getting lapis "proportions" wrong lmao
