Moksha means two things. One is the condition of liberation from ignorance that keeps us tied to the objects of desire and the satisfaction of the ego. Freedom from these two, - egoism that pursues selfish ends, and desire that goads us through impulse and need for gratification, naturally brings deep peace and happiness. But Moksha also means a state of liberation from the chains of life and death and rebirth by annulling oneself finally in the Divine. Here there is a complete cessation from the sense of self so much so that not only the ego self but also the individual soul annihilates itself in Nirvana. There is here none left to experience joy or happiness or bliss. There is only a vast impersonal Peace everywhere, permeating everything.
