I’m doing dry January! I’m recovering from ACL surgery and I’ve put on weight and finding the right exercise to combat my weight gain was difficult. I started swimming but hadn’t seen any progress so I decided to try giving up alcohol to see how my body reacts. Here’s to hopin’! 🤞🏽
Amazing! It'll help with so many parts of your life. A book that helped me a lot was This Naked Mind. I listened to a lot of audiobooks and podcasts in the first month. Enjoy the good feels! :)
I'm doing dry January! and hoping to keep going for longer, even if I have alcohol here and there. Also, even if places don't advertise mocktails on the menu, you can often ask if the bartender can make you one! I have had preggo and recovery alcoholic friends who do this all the time, not just in January!
I love how real you with running 🙂 . I too hate not being able to shower after a run. The shower is a major reward in my book. I just signed up to run the Philly half by myself in March; any plans on running that or being there? Would love to meet another not super fast runner 😊. Keep up the good work, and love your podcast!
I suppose I don't do "Dry January" bc I don't see the benefit to my health or my running? If I were an alcoholic or a college-level binge drinker, sure I can see the upside. But me giving up 0-3 drinks per week has zero impact on my weekly weigh-ins or my weekly mileage. Just my opinion.

I had not great experiences with bartenders winging it on mocktails lol they end up being way too sugary!
