Lots of criticism of this movie… but I loved it! And I was a kid when the original episodes aired…
This movie is loaded with cartoon sound effects. Look what they did to George of the Jungle, The Mighty Ducks trilogy and Inspector Gadget.
not just that - there was also a Jeannie blink sound in there too!

Abyssmal. The original super-marionette show created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson was ground-breaking and, although Parker and Lady P never got their butts kicked, they also were not put in the middle of a fist-fight. All the Thunderbirds shows solved issues more cerebrally.
This movie was a HUGE disappointment.
I was expecting "Thunderbirds" I got a LAME knock off of "Spy Kids".
I can only say two good things about it.
The updated tech [with the exception of the Fab-1and T-Bird 5] looked great, and the casting of Parker was spot on.
The rest was garbage.
I agree that this movie was "a LAME knock off of "Spy Kids"." The producers deliberately made a kids' movie whereas the original series was designed for both parents and their children - why didn't they understand that?

Frakes fancied himself a fan of the original, yet demonstrated a fundamental lack of understanding for what the show was.
As for who it was aimed at, it's target audience was originally British Children.
The maturity level in the scripts was comparable to that in other kids shows of the era, Jonny Quest as a prime example.
The whole coddling kids and treating them like idiots was more a product of the overprotective parenting of the 70's.
The CGI series "Thunderbirds Are Go" is far closer to the original, though I did not agree with replacing Tintin with Kayo, but modern writers were uncomfortable with her being the daughter of a domestic servant.
To appease people who never actually watch shows like this they needed to replace her with a hyper-competent @$$-kicking superwoman.
Failing to recognize they already had that in the suave and classy espionage agent Lady Penelope.
And... this is about where this movie fell apart for me. And it was already not going very well.

One day I might forgive Frakes for this. Maybe. I also blame Akiva Goldsman who wrote ‘the script.’ EDIT to correct the ‘writing’ credits: William Osborne and Michael McCullers are ‘credited’ for the screenplay from a story by Osborne and Peter Hewitt. Allegedly, based on the series by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.
