criminally underrated for what he brought to the AC/DC and he was so humble about it his abilities. His ryrhym playing abilities were perfection. Do I miss Malcom? Only everytime I listen to AC/DC.
What’s funny to me is, playing without distortion, shortly after you bring in the G-string and get up to about half speed, it sounds to me like more of a Country song than AC/DC. I love it!
Brilliant John! Thank you so much for posting this. So straightforward yet not straight forward at all.So typical of the genius of Malcolm Young Aka white Falcon
Just start really slowly 1 string at a time and then slowly bring up your speed.. You must keep going over and over the same section of the song and eventually it will happen. Never practice like that in front of anyone either as it will drive them nuts.. 🎸
Hi mate, great job as always. One thing though (in good spirit ) I almost cried for you when I saw that nylon pick you are using. They have got to go! Malcolm used Fender 351 Celluloid Heavy picks and go further than people think towards his trademark tone. Kick arse video man!
No worries mate. They are harmonic even to tap on any hard surface. Unfortunately they dont last as long as they turn to dust but I'll never go back to Nylon! Let me know what you think if you end up getting some. Or even better I'll post you some. RIP Malcolm....
Many people don't realize that getting a certain sound with certain strings & pickups are only half the battle. That's where the picks are the other half for a specific sound.
That was years ago so don’t really remember. It’s not the amp but the software on the computer I was using back then. Sorry I can’t help anymore than that. I think I fed a clean signal into the computer using a D.I box and the DAW did the rest, I just went for something that sounded ok
Fallait nous dire avant la vidéo qu’il fallait une guitare électrique...j’ai été chez mon frère récupérer mon accordéon...j’ai beau essayer, cela ne donne pas pareil 😳😢😳
Excuse my ignorance, can’t say I know his name. I have held the pick like that for 30 years then I change to using Thumb and Index not long after this video. Cheers
@@acdcjustthebest....8980 oh no. I just asked. I am a Noob player. Learning guitar. But yeah your picking was really great. Trying to learn the riff for 1 month now.
That is funny- I thought the exact same thing. Johnny Cash was my first favorite singer in the very early 70's before Bon became my all time favorite singer shortly after that.
Hi Dude, I did Donington as a collab and it was deleted along with 55 other videos I have done. I did try uploading the No Bull version to Y.T and it was copyrighted. But you can view it on my channel at Dailymotion. This is the link dai.ly/x72hm2h Cheers
I can’t remember how long it took, but I remember slowing the track down to about 60% to really hear what he was playing. Donington was deleted by Y.T along with about 60 other videos I did. I also have a channel on Dailymotion www.dailymotion.com/search/Acdc%20just%20the%20best/videos they also blocked Thunderstruck Donington but there is Thunderstruck No Bull. Cheers
all acdc fans and players there, that version is totally wrong. i did it when i was the "malcolm" in my band. i will release it in BAROCK once. have fun then :-)
Slowed down so much that it could very easily be turned into a Johnny Cash song- my first ever favorite singer in the early 70's. - Before Bon became my most favorite singer ever not too long after that.
As simple as hard to play!
Mal is the best Rythm Guitarist....he keeps the rythm roling!
I love it.. malcom’s part gives the intro a heartbeat
That's such a great epithet. I'm going to keep that one.
AC/DC Just The Best i get chills up and down my spine when his part comes in.. always have
Et pluribus unum....malcom young.
The only guitarist where you can spend an entire video trying to explain how to play 1 chord
I think I watched 15 tutorials before I reached yours... and you're the only one to get it spot on! Great job man.
Angus said that he wasn't the best guitar player in the band. Great compliment to Malcolm.
Mal will always be remembered in rock history
I’ve always liked Mal better than Angus, when it comes to those two together I think Angus gets overrated and Mal doesn’t get enough credit
By doing a D chord?

It just wouldn’t have the same sound back in the 50s.....Just add distortion and away ya go. 🤟🤟 Cheers
AC/DC Just The Best.... yes, I know. I was born in the 50s and I remember what the sound was back then. Cheers back at ya!
Yep it’s a bluegrass picking pattern really. Accept with a pick and no fingers. I actually find it easier to play with fingers only lol.
So simple yet so hard to replicate. RIP Mal⚡️⚡️⚡️✊️
Angus: Picks every note of a 152 bpm lick
Malcom: I’m just going to strum this B chord
Lol right. Such an important member of the band.
and it sounds great
Yup well it's actually good ❤️

Well, in the guitar world he's known as riff master.
Phil is known as God's own metronome.
Honestly a lot of AC/DC songs sound simple to play until you try to play them "RIGHT" then it's not so easy.
That’s for sure. I was blown away when I isolated Mal and listened to what he was playing “It’s A Long Way To The Top” AMAZING. Cheers
Awesome. Those Boys had the best musical roots to hone their skills from.
I love how dedicated you are to helping people good job!
Great video, love the gtr as well. :) Those pickups, pickup rings and pickguard all complement each other very well.
Thanks Dude, Glad you liked it. Cheers. She’s a nice guitar
The best! Cheers man.Been slopping my way around that rhythm for tears. Till now.

1st time ive seen in any you tube video this picking pattern and emphasis done correctly 👍🏻
Thanks Dude 🤘
Love that Gretsch double cut! Hard choice between that Gretsch model and the Yamaha Revstar.
Thanks for a great style of tutorial

Imagine Malcolm Young and Steve Harris in the same band.
I remember doing rhythm for my friends and I genuinely thought it was just a strum progression I didn't think it was this deep
You would be surprised at what Mal plays.
Thanks for the demo!!!
