AC/DC is one of my all-time favourite bands and I always felt that Malcolm was criminally underrated as a guitarist, his playing was so rock-solid and the perfect compliment to Angus' wild leads. RIP my man, and thanks for teaching us all how to play guitar
Came to this video to object about talking about Malcolm Young while holding an Angus Young Gibson SG; stayed through the end to listen to the wonderful rendition of his riffs while remembering that gentle, humble man and brilliant musician who left us so soon. Malcolm was always there, keeping his feet solidly planted in the ground and his hands perfectly in rhythm so that his younger brother could fly and make us wild. If all of us had a bigger brother like Malcolm, the world would be a so much better place. Thanks for making this video and honoring Malcolm Young.
Dude we were playing Malcolm Young perfectly 40 years ago.....on our air guitars! I'm 55 now and still love their music particularly from the Bon Scott era.
There is no band that does hard rock and great grooves as well as AC/DC. People claim its simple but I NEVER hear anyone come close to capturing that raw and powerful rhythm that they do. It was made almost singularly from the genius of Malcolm Young: the secret weapon of AC/DC and the heart and so of the band
I remember in the '90's, Angus Young did a column in a guitar magazine, so he did "Here's something cool that Malcolm did..." The next month, "Here's another awesome Malcolm riff." Total class act!
What makes AC/DC great, is that they have a deep understanding of what the essence of heavy rock really is, and with them you already know what you are going to get, and then they give it to you! And Malcom's parts are the ones that reveal the magic formula.
They did during the ballbreaker tour, I assume they didnt during the Stiff upper lip tour because they already had a lot of changes happening in the setlist. After that kinda makes sense as brian couldn't get his voice that high and the band had to change tuning on the black ice tour.

Malcolm had this wonderful knack of using simple chord progressions to produce powerful melodic rhythm tracks which provided fantastic landscapes for Angus to soar over. The Bon Scott era of AC/DC was much loved by us Aussies. No disrespect to Brian who has done a wonderful job. But for many of us, AC/DC was never the same after Bon left the building!

What I find amazing is the fact I’ve seen AC/DC performing live on many occasions yet never bought a single album of theirs…despite being one of the best live acts I’ve ever witnessed 🤷🏻♂️
Good summation of what was at work within the AC/DC harmonious clockwork precisional magical engagement of Malcolm & Angus output as a dangerous force to be reckoned with, some genius is so simple.
Simplicity is just that . . . simplicity. However, mastering the art of simplicity is what separates the best from the rest. Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top is my hero. He's another crafty player that mastered the art of simplicity.
Back in 1986 I was working in a steakhouse and Billy Gibbons came in for dinner. Nicest guy- and impeccable taste! He ordered the 18oz 30 day aged Ribeye
Malcolm and Angus worked like a fine tuned rolls Royce then with Phil to keep em going that’s all you ever needed for the best rock band in the world. R.I.P Malcolm 🤟
In addition to a Gretch, Malcolm used ablonde maple Gibson L6-S modified in 1976; his team gutted neck pick-up, pick guard and the Bill Lawrence tone circuit and added a 2nd cutaway to make it a double cutaway L6-S. By coincidence, I had a (1974) L6-S, which I re-wired and made into a double cutaway circa 1982.😍
i love the tones man! for those about to rock is such an amazing but under-appreciated tune. you never hear it anywhere, really! but it's such a cool and groovy riff.
Great video! Malcolm IS the sound of ACDC. The soul of the group. Just a quick note: the title is "Dirty deeds done dirt cheap" and not "...dirty cheap". Thank you very much for your videos Danilo.
In the way that Eddie Van Halen could build an entire track around his guitar, Malcolm provided the backbone of their ouvre. Worth listening to all by itself.
Check out malcolms start up riff on jailbreak live at Donnington 91. As far as I'm concerned the holy grail of rhythm guitar playing. So solid. The bight he got out of his gretch is just the best rock sound ever. Oh, and it's dirty deeds done dirt cheap, not Dirty deeds done dirty cheap
Fantastic... very well done. You nailed them all. Maybe a second part would be good with songs like; hells bells, money talks and what's next to the moon just to name a few. Plenty to pick from..... cheers mate.

In an interview, Angus was asked ''What's it like to be called 'the worlds best guitar player'' He replied, ''I don't know about that, I'm not even the best guitarist in AC DC, Malcolm is a far better guitar player than me, he understands about chords and keys and stuff, I just like to play the flashy stuff''.
Yes dude, if you listen, for example, to back in black song´s solo part, what really makes it great (IMO) is the rythim riff, far more than the solo itself.
There both important take angus out and it never would have sounded as good either.
Music is definitely a universal language, so cool to hear a fellow 🇮🇹dig these notes🤘☮️🤍🎶🇮🇹🥳🇮🇹
Epic, brother. You brought back my entire life in 8:47. Thanks Mal !!!
A big Ac/dc fan from let there be Rock on each Album is very very Different from the last one of the greatest hard rock bands ever thank you for sharing Rock N Roll
"Done dirty cheap".... that did give me a good laugh. Excellent video.
Fuck yeah, that pedal really does what it’s supposed to do, totally AC/DC’s tone. He actually was my first guitar teacher like you said.
Awesome video and ribs. Well played. Thank you very much for posting this
Simplicity is just that . . .
Well said
Malcolm and Angus worked like a fine tuned rolls Royce then with Phil to keep em going that’s all you ever needed for the best rock band in the world.
You Absolutely Nailed Them Riffs Dude!
i love the tones man! for those about to rock is such an amazing but under-appreciated tune. you never hear it anywhere, really! but it's such a cool and groovy riff.
Congrats on producing a GREAT guitar sound, very clean indeed. Great riffs :)
🔥Sos un capocannoniere, Danilo🔥
R.I.P Malcolm.
Greetings from Argentina.
It may sound simple because he's the rhythm player but its the timing and uniqueness of its sound that gives AC/DC its distinct sound.
Great video! Malcolm IS the sound of ACDC. The soul of the group.
Just a quick note: the title is "Dirty deeds done dirt cheap" and not "...dirty cheap".
Thank you very much for your videos Danilo.
Starts at 2:00
In the way that Eddie Van Halen could build an entire track around his guitar, Malcolm provided the backbone of their ouvre. Worth listening to all by itself.
I love ACDC there My favorite band of all time! Thanks for doing this video, they have super cool riffs!😎
Thank you!🙌🏻
Your welcome man! I love these kinda videos!
Check out malcolms start up riff on jailbreak live at Donnington 91. As far as I'm concerned the holy grail of rhythm guitar playing. So solid. The bight he got out of his gretch is just the best rock sound ever.
Oh, and it's dirty deeds done dirt cheap, not
Dirty deeds done dirty cheap
Hi! I was born in a little settlement on the coast of the Chukotskoe Sea. AC/DC is the one of my favorite bands.
Thank you. That was awesome. BTW, your left hand is exceptionally graceful and confident!!
Fantastic... very well done. You nailed them all. Maybe a second part would be good with songs like; hells bells, money talks and what's next to the moon just to name a few. Plenty to pick from..... cheers mate.
Exactly the point - it's the creating of the stuff that is incredible, not the technical skill in performing it
Angus is really fun to watch, but Malcolm gives AC DC a groove not many other bands can achieve. IMO Malcolm is the best rhythm player ever.
Malcolm Young was a genius
Great video. I love how you showcased some riffs that weren't no. 1 hits (yet still great).
These riffs just make you feel good and want to have a good time. Translation: it means AC/DC is the boss.
Hey man, I like what you put together. I enjoyed watching his video. I like the way you play, good job. Thank you for sharing this.
Anyone who doesn’t realize Malcolm is a Genius ? Clearly hasn’t played music before. Or they haven’t heard any good music Malcolm and Angus are both geniuses !
love that you included many bon scott era riffs, whole lotta Rosie, if you want blood, etc. are fantastic
Amazing vid, danilo.
This actually shows that we need to work a lot more on our strumming hand than we usually think.
Also, here's a request, if you can go through your tone design, it'd be a great help for learners like me.
Ciao!! ♥️
Thank you! In this case it was very “simple”. Clean channel of the Blackstar, the J Rockett with the settings shown in the video all through the torpedo captor X with a Marshall 4x12 cabinet simulation. That’s it 😁
The riff on the verses of Burning Alive. Been playing it for many years and never managed to hit the pocket as perfectly as Malcolm.
