I came across this video recently. I am a self-taught artist and mostly paint with acrylics and oils. As soon as I saw your video I was inspired and immediately ordered the necessary materials to draw. Thank you for sharing your your knowledge!
You do such beautiful work with charcoal. I love work that isn't complete photo realism but where the artist has bent the rules to create something more. You are generous with how you think and teach as you work. Watching you I learn so much.
Very good illustration. I especially liked that you provided the reference in split screen to see what you were responding to in tonality, position, and referencing. I like your videos.
I took a screen shot of the reference and turned it black and white to accent the values. None of the pupil is covered by the eyelid. It is the iris that is partially covered. The iris is the larger, colored part that surrounds the pupil. The pupil is essentially a hole in the center of the iris which allows light to enter the eye.
Do you give lessons? What other mediums do you do? I want to start oils and further my charcoal work. Where you located in the world. Your talent is sooo obvious cuz. Few marks on page and one would know how good you are.
I think it's because when you try to get better and better without inspiration or fun. And when you just want to paint it's a completely different feeling. Thus, the pictures are better and you are much looser or more relaxed.
I think when you try to draw something intentionally you're mind is not free to do what it does but when you are drawing freely you're mind is enjoying it and same for me
Love your method of drawing and teaching style. Just one criticism, the pupil is the tiny black dot in the center of the larger colorful circle, the iris.
Lately I have discovered your channel. Great videos, very inspiring. Many thanks on behalf of all of us, I think, interested in art and an individual, creative approach to it. Good luck to you 🍀
Nice drawing! FYI: the pupil is the dark part in the center and the iris is the colored part around it that opens and closes the pupil. You had it backwards.
I'm totally new to charcoal. I don't know how you rub off the fine details and still the details lasts. I use my dark charcoal pencil for details, if ever i touch the detail it powders off and i lose it. Still trying to get a hang of it. I use Derwent charcoal pencils

Where did u find the first metal tool he uses to apply the loose charcoal? What IS THAT TOOL called??????
@@tracybyone6879 actually it's plastic and it's called palette knife
@@soupynoodles4618 WRONG. They're called sofft tools, designed to be used with pan pastels & charcoal.
@@tracybyone6879 search for palette knives that come with soft caps :)!!
You're a sculptor of light. Always love watching your work unfold it's beauty.

Somewhere midways it transforms from a drawing into three dimensional magic of light and shadows

Gorgeous! I love working in charcoal. I loved what you did with the eye. So expressive and beautiful!
Beautiful work!!! Thank-you so much for sharing!! The black circle in the middle is the pupil the colored circle around it is the iris 😊
At 8:00 it arrives at a stunning piece of artwork with texture, depth and mystery. Really cool. And it wasn’t even completed yet.

Thanks for the video ... I will also try to use more compressed charcoal ... willow gets blown away so easily. Good luck!
Amazing to watch and learn from you. It looks so effortless!
Dude your amazing. What’s weird is I always draw better when not really trying and with a loose hand. Why is that
Same here, when I let go of perfection, the end result is always better?

You know dude I'm left handed and I'm so good at drawing with my left hand but bad at the right hand
I think when you try to draw something intentionally you're mind is not free to do what it does but when you are drawing freely you're mind is enjoying it and same for me
Eye love your work!
Love your method of drawing and teaching style. Just one criticism, the pupil is the tiny black dot in the center of the larger colorful circle, the iris.

Fantastic, thank you, I learnt a lot!
Nice drawing arts Sir 🎨
Basquiat called himself an Ignorant artist sooooo....
Love Mad Charcoal!!!
I can draw eyes for daysssss.... its when it comes to drawing a pair of matching eyes .. I fall short
Hi I would like too know how too draw a nose proportions ect.
Not bad! 😉
Beautiful thx 😊
Why do you draw proportions first for an eye and then tones but when you draw full faces you draw the tones first and proportions after?
Can you share the exact reference of this paper that you use ?
I can't find that palette knife for charcoal..
Are you etching the pupil of the eye or using white pen do comment
You have your pupil and iris mixed up. The pupil is the black central part of the eye and the iris is the coloured section surrounding the pupil.
Hello i really love your channel, how do u draw a ocean with your technique?
Nice
aalaw 👍
Lovely video! You've got your anatomical terms backwards, though. The black part in the center is the pupil. The colored part of the eye is the iris 🙂
what do you mean by squinting ? or squint
👍👍!
Thank you. Cloth folds, please.
Thank you so much
Hey Mad Charcoal, if you have a challenge to do a drawing of a ancient Greek woman sculpture on charcoal how would you do? I love all that Goddesses.
❤
I`ve been watching your videos, they are amazing! Love the way you draw!! What paper do you like to use with carchoal? Seems pretty smooth...

Nose from up to down angle, please sir🖤🖤🖤🖤
What paper do you use?
Красиво
the blenders are peelable
Which type of paper did you use there

🖤
you call the iris pupil and the pupil iris multiple times :D
its like watching magic happens.
You can clean your paper stamp , by rubbing an eraser on it
Талант
Noses please
Charcoal pencil is enough for this 🤔
That blank space on the lower lash line right below the eyeball really bugs me!
dibujó un ojo , pero no el de la fotografia !! en este , si la idea era copiar el ojo de la fotografia , el dibujo no está bien !!!
¿Could you enable the language in Spanish?greetings
Don't you hate it when you pull your bottom eye lashes out and you end up like this?
The colored part is the iris; the central dark is the pupil. Learn before you teach.
