I've used scissors for many years, but I will admit it was always in the back of my mind...what if. Thanks for the video. I just ordered the Craftsman cutter because of it. :)
As a professional pyro, these are EXACTLY what I use to cut visco fuse and quickmatch. Either the Sears or the Ronan brand. Because they use replaceable utility blades they are always super sharp and cut fuse and QM like butter.
I've worried about scissors before i even started messing with pyrotechnics for that very reason. A zircon infused exacto knife from Wal-Mart probably works too-just be careful not to slice your fingers open.
Trial n' Error thnks I was wondering because i’ve used scissors before but never felt safe so i started to use a box cutter and a binder as a surface to cut
Wow thanks for posting this... I wasn't even sure what to use when fusing my fireworks. Honestly I was going to use scissors, but having watched this and doing more research after having watched this. I am definately going to get some anvil cutters. Thanks so much!
Funny how universal those craftsman cutters are. Honestly if you don't own a pair you are doing yourself a disservice. They're great for cutting twigs and wires as well.
Can we just use a much cheaper option like ceramic scissors!? 😂 They don't create sparks and are immune to static electricity, making them perfect for this task.

What about ceramic scissors?
Something about using scissors seemed off, this makes it clear, thanks!

In ordering one too. Thx for posting!!
Love this Craftsman tool. Been using it for almost 3 weeks now for a Labor Day show. This tool makes perfect cuts on fuse.

Makes total sense TriainError....I am picking up one of those tools today, I like that safety step more then most. THANKS!

I would like to see someone make attempts to light a fuse with scissors.
@@Trialnerror that's insanely scary. I just fused a 12 shot rack imagining the unfortunate potential the entire time.
bought one of these at home depot after watching this. about to fuse a bunch of cakes!
Can you use a box cutter ?

Exacto knife can work too, just be careful not to cut yourself.
Can I use utility knife? To cut a fuse?
Or I can use electrical flyer wire? To cut it
Yes and yes just make sure whatever you're using as a cutting board isn't metal or able to make heat/spark with the blades.
@@Trialnerror ok thank you, I will buy very shar knife
To cut a fuse
But what happens if you did use scissors to cut it
99% chance of nothing but the 1% chance of blowing up is worth the $25 IMO

Can you use Wire cutters
They would be better than scissors but you still have two pieces of metal coming together over gunpowder so it's not risk free like these are.
You’re correct I agree metal to metal I completely understand
Do you try it?
No I'm doing it you're way!!!!!!
The Safeway
Got my edge razor cutter in the mail and it works GREAT!!! So thank you!!!!
TrialnError you are not kidding!!! After 288 mortars I'm feeling blessed! Now have 1 month 3 days praying no sparks in my garage!
Thumbs up for safety!
Great info!
Great video thank You!
It's not about friction. It's about metal to metal contact causing sparks. Eliminate the metal contact, eliminate sparks.
right no friction involved there.
thats nicer than mine !

Still creates friction....
@@Trialnerror
So, a visco fuse is friction sensitive?
@@saksi_mata Yes
ur paranoid..... tho i agree the razor cutter is wayy faster
Rather be a lil paranoid than in pieces lol.
@@Trialnerror ya and the razors cut the fuses soo much faster scissors just wreck them
....you could actually save yourself some cash and just buy a pair of plastic scissors!
