I must confess , the Centris reel is quite honestly the very best reel that i have used. I was using the TDR’s but once i tried the Centris i switched Immediately and have no regrets well done Preston innovations well done
Well my Centris 420 arrived last week with the monster x 10ft Feeder Rod and I am very very happy with my purchases. I took them to my local commercial lake and had a fantastic days fishing using a hybrid feeder with 2mm micros and 8mm wafters as hook bait, I virtually had a fish a cast for the 5 hours I spent there. The rod is so lightweight and the blank is insanely thin but the playing action is fantastic. But the Centris reel is an amazing bit of kit, incredibly smooth and powerful with no flex whatsoever. The saying goes "you get what you pay for" but this reel is the bargain of the year
If you upgrade your older Centris, with carbon ice drag washers or Teflon drag washers, it will improve drag to latest model. Give it a try and save a few bob🙊👍
Lee advisement to me Centris N520 for feeders 30-50g and casting around 30-50m for wild carps. Centris N420, wha is your recommendation of use?. Thanks a lot from Spain.
My concern is that the reel is light enough for float fishing all day, and is the line lay good for long trotting. I need a high speed reel for all this little dace and roach, rather than a huge power drive. Its difficult to find a reel just for light fishing with line of 2lb. They look a great reel but what about the above concerns Preston please?
Maybe go with a different reel full stop then as I don't think these were made for trotting in mind. The gear ratio was made with a balance of speed and cranking power in mind. I would use the 320 and 420 for waggler and light to medium feeder work.
I think it is a ryobi reel done to preston specs & livery … as far as I know Preston don’t own a reel manufacturing factory to produce exclusive reels ….

The 520 is the ideal reel for all feeder fishing up to the 60metre mark.

18 months is no age for a reel that costs over a hundred quid, you would expect any reel in that price range to last a lifetime.
We are yet to have a single one back for repair, which when you consider we have sold thousands is a pretty nice stat to have.
