All my commercial rods have Centris reels on them Paul and I could not be happier with them. Next time you are out with the feeder use the single handle to start and then switch to the double handle. I found the double stops the wobble that you feel on the retrieve. Great video as usual mate, look forward to the next one 👍

I have Centris reels for feeder and Shimano XR 5000s for my pellet waggler fishing, that's purely because the Shimano is lighter for float fishing. The Centris is a great reel and although Preston have brought out a new Centris l like Paul do not like quick drag reels. I don't like the folding handle either. I'd still buy the old model if l needed another reel.

Thanks, paul, for the balanced review without music sung by someone who just inhaled helium. Seriously, these types of reviews are invaluable to anglers who dont mind spending money but hate wasting it. Hard to come by, easy to give away.

The double handles for Centris are £20 but can only be bought from a dealer. If you want to sell your double handle I would buy it as l prefer them at the minute for feeder fishing and they fit the Magnitude .

Paul great video once more. What feeder reel would you recommend for a 12’ Preston asention rod please. I run a 320 and 420 centris at present on my Supera pellet wagler and 10’ feeder. Would another 420 suffice or should I go to the 520. Thanks.

I’d be happy to use a 420 on my 11’4” Ascension, Lee Kerry I’ve seen uses a 520 on a lot of rods, even shorter ones, it’s down to personal preference. I’d try your 420 and see how it goes.

Thanks for the video Paul. How do these reels compare with your Cadence reel?

I use the Cadence CS10 3000 for all my float fishing. They are of equal quality to the Centris and Aero, the clutch on the Cadence is as good as the Aero. The Cadence is a 6:1 gear ratio and I did have a CS10 4000 for feeder fishing but no longer use it, the Aero and Centris are better suited for feeder.

great video mate I love my 520 centris reel it's been such amazing reel it's never let me down mate at all but I know the new centris reels coming out on the market do have a push button fold in handle mechanism on the new ones going back to the perfect line lay on the reels I added to washers to mine and I had the level perfect line lay mate I know the reel comes with two washers so I added to washers before I put on my line on and I had the perfect level line lay but going back to the centris reel they have never let me down quality bit of kit mate 👍🎣🎣

I saw the new folding handle on the new reels and felt it was an improvement. Once you’ve sorted the line lay, never have to touch it again.

@paulstacklereviews1695 I just found using two washers the washers what come with the reel made my line lay perfect mate actually love your RUclips channel you always give a very honest opinion on fishing tackle and that's what I like mate 🎣👏🎣👏

@@paulstacklereviews1695 l don't think the new handle is an improvement as you get more play in them and the springs are susceptible to fail . Daiwa have changed their handle design on the new TDR. from the spindle to direct screw but it folds.

I have 12 centris reels ,I used to buy mainly Diawa & odd shimano models ( tdrs , tdms & FDA Stradics … that was until the centris reels appeared…. I fish 50/50 commercial & river matches these reels do both disaplines with aplomb….open bail trotting is a major test for reels & any faults will quickly show up ,the main one being line getting under the spool in windy conditions!never had it happen with any centis model …unlike my 3012 ‘s which were useless on running line ,( tdr mk2 “s ) unless using on a closed bail ,(feeder or pellet wag ..)to me a reel should be able to be switched around , within reason,& perform well , especially at this price point !long live the centris 😀a Truely re markable reel …Preston got it right first time out 6 yrs ago , buy some quick as they will soon be gone forever soon … not interested in the SD new version ,like u Paul I hate speed drags on reels 👍

Couldn't agree more. Mainly, I use my 4 & 3000 centris for roving rivers for chub barbell and trotting were the banks are steep and over grow. I've had both reels for four years now, never let me down and short of kicking them around on the ground work as good as new. I.M.O, the centris is one of the best kept secrets in angling equipment. Often wonder if this reel in time will become iconic.

TBH l saw no need for the so called improvements l am no an advocate of quick drags either and l don't like the folding handle so will be sticking with my old Centris reels. Might have to buy a spare for future needs. I have to say as well l do own a pair of Shimano Aero XRs for my pellet waggler fishing as they are very light and balance my rods perfectly.

    Great video as always Paul
I have both these reels and there is very little difference between them,
One thing l noticed with the centris reels, l have the 420 and the 520 and there the same size reel just different size spools, has anyone noticed this.

they have both the same body size. You can use the spool of the 420 with the 520 centris body, but not vice versa, because the rotor diameters are different in size.

Use Daiwa shirt to review Shimano product. Same as Drink Coca Cola but review pepsi 😂

I need a shirt with a collar for the microphone so I have limited choice, also shows my independence. I’m not like the guy from Angling Times who matches clothing brand to product reviews 😂
