Careful now, QC/QA is important. More likely than not, Linus probably just got lucky with the purchase and the one they shipped out after is probably barely functioning.
I've bought some super cheap and surprisingly good stuff on Temu, a lot of it is either minimal/no QC/QA (so it's a bit of a gamble) or it's legitimately good stuff but from 5-10 years ago. Bought some bike headlights for $1.50US that performed as well as some lights ten times their price, did a bit of searching online, and found out that yep, they're basically either overstock or re-used manufacturing from an identical set of lights that was being made overseas years ago. Wouldn't be surprised if the webcam is the same thing, enough searching around and you'll likely find it's the same design as some old webcam from a bigger manufacturer. Probably one that was being made in China to begin with and when they switched to newer designs, the factory just went "eh, let's just keep making these".

They did right at the end of the video 24:24 . They kept a couple of the larger spread lights on to make it filmable, but turned off the ones right around him.

Tbh, this should've been on the set for ShortCircuit -- the living room that is. It's more of an enclosed space and they could've light controlled it better to give the audience a reason why or why not to buy those key lights. There was just too much light also hitting Linus' face from surface reflections to tell whether they were even on and shining on him.
I decided to buy the webcam. I got it a few hours after the video was released and the price had been raised to $16 USD. Decided it was still worth it at that price and pulled the trigger. The unit I received looked the same but did not have the same quality as the one in the vid. Yes, it was full HD. But it had noticeable artifacts and more noise than expected. That webcam was damn impressive for the price. I got a fairly high end consumer webcam some years ago (logitech that cost over $100 at the time), and it doesn't have quite as fluid of motion as your $11 one. I was also impressed by the headset mic, didn't sound that much different from what you normally use for videos (at least on my speakers which aren't high grade but still do fine)
Careful now, QC/QA is important. More likely than not, Linus probably just got lucky with the purchase and the one they shipped out after is probably barely functioning.
logitech webcams
@@LenKirinthey are weird
@@JiorujiDerako I'm sure a lot of their products are also factory seconds or productions tests that weren't tossed. I'm finding many things on TEMU that's being sold on Amazon but for much less.
when you said "if you've been watching us long enough you'll know what comes next" I was fully expecting a sponsor spot
I've been getting an uncomfortable sensation every time Linus starts a series of questions with "What is..." or something the like. I always expect him to finish with "...the segue to our sponsor".
And then I'm annoyed when the sponsor is introduced in another way.
It's like when an abused wife flinches when someone waves: we're so used to the sponsor segues that we're hyper-alert to it

The one thing I don't like about these kind of setups is the studio lighting flooding the key lights. Though I get they're not the main focus of the video, it still would've been nice to see how it would look in a non-lit / ambient-only lit room. :)
They did right at the end of the video 24:24 . They kept a couple of the larger spread lights on to make it filmable, but turned off the ones right around him.
they did...
Given that they measured a CRI of 81 on the light meter, not good, they'll make you look pale and sickly, there would be better options for not much more
@@TimSheehan "Show, don't tell." Their meter meant very little to me since I've never seen one. And even later in the video they still had a back* light that most people aren't going to have.
EDIT: After more use, I've decided it's still not as good as the unit Linus got, but not as bad as my first impressions.
They probably recognized Linus and gave him "the good stuff" as a loss leader, just to rope in buyers.

So many points just for a proper seizure warning! Thank you, some of us really do need it! ❤
I'm not even sure the first intention was to make real seizure warning rather than just trolling...
I swear like nobody ever cares thanks for validating that you indeed exist
To be fair; a proper seizure warning would show when the content that is likely to induce those with photosensitive epilepsy comes to an end instead of just saying seizure warning.
@@TheFatVeganOne But it did...They had a visual pop-up with a timer leading up to the start and it said there would be an audible chime when it was past the potential harmful content... @Linus, The annular rings present on mounting points you show at 4:13 are not necessarily attached to the ground net in a PCBA. Often in fact, they are not directly attached, but rather through a chassis ground - board ground connection.
