Excellent demo! I have two bird baths and didn't really know how to go about planting them. This looks so easy I can't wait to get started! Thanks Debra Lee!
Fantastic idea 💡 for a planter thanks! Purely by accident I discovered that a birdbath surrounded by edgers helps prevent erosion. It effectively slows the water down and keeps it from rushing down the slope when it rains. One of the birdbaths had a chipped bowl but putting a ceramic pot with parrot beak plant in it completely covered the defect and added some tropical drama. 🦜🌿
Beautiful!!!!! FYI Debra, the sound is very low when you speak, but the sound is at a correct level when the music plays.... Hopefully it is just a glitch at my end. 💚💚💚
Do you have only one speaker or earbud? When I listen with just my right earbud, I get exactly the sound levels you describe; when I listen with just my left, I hear Debra perfectly. Listen with both earbuds, and you'll get the complete sound. It's because the audio settings are in stereo rather than mono.
Spray it lightly with a hose. Aim to keep the soil moist but not soggy. The container is so shallow, and the soil is basically sitting atop it, so unless this is exposed to excessive rain or irrigation, evaporation ought to take care of excess moisture.
What happens over time is the rosettes grow from the centers and lower leaves dry and fall off, so stems lengthen, making it look looser. If there are any offsets, they'l appear along those exposed stems.
The birdbath looked so shallow to me not 4 inches like you said. Were you saying it’s ideal to have it be 4 inches deep as opposed to the much shallower one you used?!
Hi Bell -- It doesn't drain, and that's OK. I know it sounds like a contradiction: If succulent roots will rot when they sit in soupy soil, then a container HAS to drain, right? Actually, no. I have glass terrariums of succulents that have been fine for years. The key is to not overwater them. Remember, succulents are plants that store moisture in their leaves, so they can get by on minimal water. To answer your question, the birdbath is so shallow, and so much of the soil is above the basin, that in a dry climate, drainage is not a concern due to evaporation. The arrangement should be watered from the top, so water percolates downward, and of course not exposed to excessive rain.
@@QueenofSucculents thanks for responding, but there is no symmetry on the arrangement, maybe is because I need to get the same size for all the plants.
@@lettyrodrz9940 The more uniform the plants, the greater the symmetry. But it comes down to what looks best to you. There's no wrong way to do it. You can get a really nice composition even with succulents of various sizes and types. The key is mounding the soil (don't plant flat).

Very lovely ideas how to do arrangement...
So beautiful 🌸
I didn't even imagine that it works on that kind of container. Great! Thanks a lot. 😍

Just beautiful!🌸
Debra, would love to see an update on how this arrangement is doing!
Me too
Truly a piece of art .!!! Love it 😍👏👍
Love Patrick's garden; missed going there this Spring. Used to go every year with Jim Wright who really enjoyed the garden.
Ahhhh this is just breathtaking!!! I'm making my list and checking it twice bc Aunty is adding a birdbath that's soooooo nice🙌🙌🙌
Ha! Good for you Miss Starr.
Maravilhosas!!! Belíssimo arranjo!!! super like bjsss
So clever and brilliant!
OH WOW...... i understand now, the stacking of the plants makes it look like a mountain!!!! thank you
Yes, mounding makes a big difference, design wise!
Marvelous as always creating masterpieces !! You inspire us ☀️
Just love this, would have never thought it was possible...
Stunning!!
Uh oh. I predict e a sudden epidemic of thirsty birds. Everyone is going to plant up their bird baths! :)
VERY nice, as usual.
Fantastic!
Lovely! Debra, Greetings From Korea!😘😘😘😘
Wow! It's so pretty.
Just beautiful I want to do this for my bird bath 💕
Thanks for the information! The arrangement is so beautiful.
exactly!! what I was looking for!! so stunning and beautiful!! and I just bought
a Misty lilac Echeveria and it's begging to be put on pedestal 😁
Absolutely stunning Debra!
Nice and informative video thanks for sharing dear friend

wow............. so beautiful - amazing! I Love it!
Magnificent!!! I can't wait to try doing a (much smaller) version of my own!
Thank you, nephew!
No, thank YOU Aunty! Hehe.
Lovely!
Gorgeous!!!
so beautiful 😍
Maravilhoso!
Loved the pedestal, however where will the guests place their things without a table.
Do you have to drill a hole for drainage?
I didn't because these sort of planters dry out quickly here in Southern CA, and it's not exposed to excessive rainfall.
beautiful
Wow! Awesome
With so many plants, how long before the plants get root bound and it has to be changed?
What deconstructs this is plant growth, not root growth. There's plenty of soil. But in six months or so, echeverias tend to get leggy.
LOVE!
beautiful ... 🤗🤗🤗🤗😊😊
Thank you!
I am a new subscriber. I love ur videos. Very beautiful arrangements. Please let me know how u water this when there s no drainage hole.

What happens when rains Do u cover the whole thing. Won’t it be destroyed
The basins are shallow and dry out quickly. But if heavy rains are predicted for several days, yes, it would be good to cover it.
It's so pretty but wouldn't there not be enough room for the babies?
What happens over time is the rosettes grow from the centers and lower leaves dry and fall off, so stems lengthen, making it look looser. If there are any offsets, they'l appear along those exposed stems.
Beautiful, certainly, but how much would all these plants cost?
I was just thinking, that has to be more than $100 worth of plants...
Don't u need to make a hole??? I want to do something similar but in a plastic plate..
How does the water drain so the roots don’t root
That looks beautiful but would cost an arm and a leg to buy all the plants
Yep. I hope I remembered to credit Oasis Water Efficient Gardens for donating them!
Beautiful Arrangement! Does anyone else only hear her out of their left speaker?
Thanks. Yes, my remote mic isn't stereo. Apologies!
The birdbath looked so shallow to me not 4 inches like you said. Were you saying it’s ideal to have it be 4 inches deep as opposed to the much shallower one you used?!
It tapers downward from edges to center, which is 4" deep.
Debra Lee Baldwin thank you! It was hard to tell on the video!
😍😍😍
What about drainage for the concrete bird bath??
Hi Bell -- It doesn't drain, and that's OK. I know it sounds like a contradiction: If succulent roots will rot when they sit in soupy soil, then a container HAS to drain, right? Actually, no. beautiful; but the birds are still thirsty
No, they're enjoying a three-tier fountain you can see in other videos.
It looks easy to do, but in reality, it's not , at least for me when, i am trying to do composition!!😢😢😢
Hi Letty - Sorry to hear that. Can you be more specific about what you found difficult?
@@QueenofSucculents thanks for responding, but there is no symmetry on the arrangement, maybe is because I need to get the same size for all the plants.

Can't hear anything except music at the beginning :(
Yes, there's only music at the beginning. After 4 seconds it fades and the dialog starts.
