I remember my father playing Franco’s songs all of my childhood every morning when we were taking Breakfast and also when he used to take us to road trips…every time I listen to Franco I just think of those good memories and my father, oh how I miss him dearly every day, Rest In Peace baba I love you forever and thank you so much for leaving behind such great memories 😢❤️❤️❤️
Sorry for ur late. Me too I remember all the road trips amd school drops and every time we got into the Car he would play all these beautiful songs. Im lucky My dad is still alive and whenever I send him all oldies he would be like " Oohh u know all these".... Bless all our dads... Alive or departed... they have put memories in our hearts only we can understand and appreciate. 💝💝💝
Though I have This stuff and many more 🤔, but I can't skip such Music anywhere on the web 😱. They remind of our Kenyan pride VoK/KBC radio and my rumba fanatic late parents playing them on radio gram in early 70's onwards 😍. I love Zaïroes rumba, where to me Franco et TP OK JAZZ is second to none. We had great musicians come entrepreneur like the late Verckys Kiamangwana Mateta, but Franco was a music genius 😍. Am privileged to have almost all of his music about 60 hours on my phone and music system where even my children born and brought up in love TP OK JAZZ 😍. Luambo Makiadi Franco's memory will live forever 🙏.
I was 18 years when Luambo with TP OK Jazz performed in 1973 at Amaan Stadium, Zanzibar the entrance was free for everybody! As usual in Zanzibar cultural wise is oriental but Luambo music was the exception and stadium was at full capacity at 18hrs waiting for mighty TP OK Jazz entertaining congolese music performance! For the first time I witnessed usage of wireless microphone by Franco Luambo himself performing bolero song B.S.K......we saw Sam Mangwana singing out a lot including then new songs the like of 'Djemelasi, monzo, azda..etc'....not to mention the superb stage show by 'Fwala' mesmerising dancers...namely ...Ekshofu, Tumba..etc it was the historical musical event ever! Courtesy of late Zanzibar President then Maalim Aboud Jumbe Mwinyi! RIP dear!

It's the music of Congo (originally From both Congo). Mostly of carabeen's music cames from Africa, like cuban's rhumba (Congo, Rd Congo or Angola, former Kingdom of Kongo) or Argentine and Uruguay 's Tango (cames from Nigeria). That's why it's seems similar like some south america's music.
I was reminiscening today. It took back back when I was very young walking in the neighbourhood with just a underwear.... I must say, I cried a lot.. Thank you papa Franco and TP OK JAZZ. YOU ARE ALL LEAVING LEGENDS... WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU ALL. Munu mutu, ba Nkaka kiani tandila😭😭
Congo just needs to reserve some space for Kenyans in their land. Our love for Congolese Rhumba music is unrivaled even though most of us don't understand the language we understand the music.
My dad will catch this song in Nigeria all the way from Congo on his small transistor radio with the antennae pull to the fullest. But now we can't even get cell phone communication from the neighboring state. The good ole days were the best.

I fell in Love with rhumba in the early 70s because my Late brother Sudi Masibo played it all his free time. Now in my 50s and I am an avid fan of TP OK Jazz. I first them perform in Nairobi in 1983 when Kenya was celebrating 20 years of independence. Then in 1987 during all African Games in Nairobi. Then post Franco in 1992. OK Jazz all the way.
Courage !!!
I did not know that a saying like "Ne er heard of him" could apply to Franco and Ok Jazz! I started listening to OK Jazz in 1966 (I was eleven years then) he inspired me even to play music although at the time I did not even know what he was singing about! Later I got to know that most successful congolese musicians were associated with Franco and his OK jazz. I take him as the most successful music enterprise in Africa.
This is the greatest Rhumba legend. He is the greatest African musician hands down. His music transcends generations. Case I point from my father to me and to my sons. When I play to my sons, they were very happy. There is something in his music that hits the highest brain codes.
This is legendry. A lot of talent. The lyric and instrumental is unbelievable. It reminds me of my childhood in the 80s/90s when this kind of music dominated the airwaves in Nigeria. It is only now that I am appreciating the talent in Franco and his band. Thank you for the beautiful memories.
I use to listen to these songs in the afternoon on my way back home from school in the 80's in Nigeria. It comes from mostly tailor shops and hair salons. What a Nostalgic music.
it reminds me of the 80s in Zimbabwe still in the grip of independence euphoria and this song a rendition of it played by a congolese band the Real Sounds was an all time favourite of revellers at a place called Seven Miles Hotel now since turned into a pentecostal church. You should have seen those zimbabwean women shake their curvy hips to rhythm with abandon and gusto and the wiggling their waists with equal measure. Good gone old days.
I used to listen to these songs in the afternoon on my way home from school in the 80's in Nigeria. I mostly hear them from tailor shops and hair salons. What a Nostalgic music.
I remember Franco Makuadi came to Dar es Salaam Tanzania in 1972 I was Standard Five we were told that he came with his TPOk Jazz with 12 tons of music equipment and more than 20 musicians in his jazz troupe.
This is one of my favourite albums of so many great lingala songs by this remarkable man and his organization. The world will never forget Franco and the O.K. Jazz. RIP and thank you very much for the memories.
Oh Lord I grew with these song. A south African in Tanzania for school. My Tanzanian friends use to kill these Sokosa!!! I am still good at it after all these years as a grand mother. FRANCO OEEEE.
This is an important part of my childhood. This was to be heard everyday at the 'Frenchline' in Kumasi , Ghana. That was in the early seventies. Alhajis Hassan, Madugu and Amadu (may their souls rest in peace ) always had it on full blast on their radios at home and Frenchline. God bless Franco
I attended a concert by Lwanzo Lwambo Makiadi (Franco) at the Kenyatta Conference Cenre, Nairobi in the 1980s. During another tour of concert in Kenya, Franco and his T.P OK Jazz performed in Westetn Kenya. Fir ne and my wife who is a music lover, Franco's show in Kisumu was not enough. When Franco performed at Lukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, we attended. Because Lingala music is very popular in western Kenya, Franco toured Kenua again. This time he performed at district headquarters of Nyanza districts.
I'm driving through memory lane right now as I listen to this song. My old childhood friends and the quiet environment in the noon listening to this legendary song under a big mango tree by the house with my father old skool Radio tape. This music has brought tears in my eyes 👀 even when I'm still driving through my memory lane remembering my friends who passed away, we're all part of this songs enjoyment 😢😢
It was on a long trip driving with my friend to lusaka capital city of Zambia when he introduced me to this music and MHSRIP. We listened to this kind of music always on a long trip whilst driving and we could not feel the distance.
Thank you brother! These songs were sung by the greatest musician Africa has ever known, his name is Franco Luambo from The Democratic Republic of Congo!
Hello, I have recently come back from Kinshasa with 200+ records, which I'm uploading to my YT channel one by one. Lots of rarities and unknown tracks. Hope you like them !
It was the years 2013-2015 when i was travelling by road all over eastern Tanzania, my driver brother had just one cassette tape - Orchestra Super Mazembe .. what songs - ilena, shauri yako and so on..that grew on me as we pasd by dusty roads, villages w playing children and big baobabs, with the eastern arc mountains in the background. This was the first time i heard the golden old congolese music. later in Morogoro, Dar and Zanzibar, i picked up many CDs from the streets and bars, like Sam Mangwana, Mlimani Park Ochestra, Independance cha cha.. and ...Franco with the TP OK Jazz ! As that music grew on me, i bnegan to appreciate that even in 2015 there were many bands in Tanzania that still played the old Congolese style music. Muziki nzuu kabisa cheezi sana!
2024 nawakilisha rumba mbaya mbovu. Wakenya mko wapi ? Like as we listen to this amazing music.

In the memory of my late father and my uncle,I grown up with this music all days and nights, even at my late father grave if this music plays his grave may shake
Thank you so much my brother
My dad will catch this song in Nigeria all the way from Congo on his small transistor radio with the antennae pull to the fullest. But now we can't even get cell phone communication from the neighboring state. The good ole days were the best.

I can relate, my father made me fell in love with Congolese music, u could hear the signal fading away and all of a sudden it would come back to full strength.

You can't just tell which Franco songs were best . Many of them are so sentimental, so nostalgic.
He was a mystery and a great legend. Songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, mentor etc, all in one. What can one say?
You said it all.
Their is no better than the other. They are just so goooood.
You a right.
However, do you understand him?
Baba franco i can not for get you rest in peace

God bless Isaac Musekiwa the Zimbabwean saxophonist in this group. Merci, merci...asante
From Nigeria my dad use to play this song bk in the days late 70s and 80s ,wht a gd memory
REAL AFRICAN WEALTH!only african can play this way
Courage !!!
Legend never died 💯💯 Vive la rumba congolaise 🔥🔥🔥
Never heard him before, but found this after Khruangbin mentioned him as an influence. Great sound. Why would anyone down vote this?
That's what brought me here too.
Then you ve never heard any music. Ok Jazz is the king of Rumba music.
Same here
This is the greatest Rhumba legend.
I understand that the song was about VW nice
You are right. Congolese music was the inthing in Nigeria during the 80's.
I use to listen to these songs in the afternoon on my way back home from school in the 80's in Nigeria. It comes from mostly tailor shops and hair salons. What a Nostalgic music.
Great childhood memories in Nairobi kenya
it reminds me of the 80s in Zimbabwe still in the grip of independence euphoria and this song a rendition of it played by a congolese band the Real Sounds was an all time favourite of revellers at a place called Seven Miles Hotel now since turned into a pentecostal church. You should have seen those zimbabwean women shake their curvy hips to rhythm with abandon and gusto and the wiggling their waists with equal measure. Good gone old days.
franco is the best
I used to listen to these songs in the afternoon on my way home from school in the 80's in Nigeria. I mostly hear them from tailor shops and hair salons. What a Nostalgic music.
I remember Franco Makuadi came to Dar es Salaam Tanzania in 1972 I was Standard Five we were told that he came with his TPOk Jazz with 12 tons of music equipment and more than 20 musicians in his jazz troupe.
Your right he used to move with his instruments
T.P OK JAZZ is a legendary musician. His music is well accepted in Nigeria.
The legend of Congolese Music. Franco you are always present into our local FM/SW radios
This is one of my favourite albums of so many great lingala songs by this remarkable man and his organization. The world will never forget Franco and the O.K. Jazz. RIP and thank you very much for the memories.

Oooh! Time flies, this track reminds me of my teenage days in the 80s as a Nigerian . My dad played this song on his turntable...RIP Simaro!
Franco's music reminded me about my childhood days in Freetown in the early 70's! Superb!!
For me during the late 90s during the AFRC interregnum. My uncle who was a captain now in London used to play them. Really sweet songs

Chief Daniel Sylvanus-Omo, likes your music so much, from Bayelsa state, Nigeria.
This time he performed at district headquarters of Nyanza districts.
wonderfull collections i respect franco so much i literary influenced my parents to name me francis at baptism because of franco.
Franco you live within our lives - your music is immortal.

My all time favourite in Nbo Kenya🇰🇪, can't get enough of Luambo's🌹
It was on a long trip driving with my friend to lusaka capital city of Zambia when he introduced me to this music and MHSRIP. We listened to this kind of music always on a long trip whilst driving and we could not feel the distance.
This is one of Africa's greatest musician of all time.
These OK jazz songs jogs my memories of youthness
I am from Saudi Arabia. But really I am so crazy about such kinda music
Thank you brother! These songs were sung by the greatest musician Africa has ever known, his name is Franco Luambo from The Democratic Republic of Congo!
@@rickymwamba9681 thank you for adding this information..it's my pleasure to know him.. But ls this kind of music commonly played at ur country?
I wish to understand this language l love this kind of music .... Um from Zimbabwe
Beautiful staff still enjoy this over current versions of music
I was in Sierra Leone when Franco and Ok Jazz were at their best. He is a legend.
which part of salone. i was too in Yele
Thx bro
Franco was genius. Especially with classic 6th intervals and melodies on the guitar. He made the guitar talk and sing.
That talking GUITAR SHOULD be preserved for many generations to come and Lutumba the main composer be remembered forever.
Merci MR FANCO, POUR CETTR MUSIQUE TRÈS D'EPZYDANYE
Ils sont les meilleurs les artistes congolais . Je les aime...dieu veille sur eux.
So smart and organized
May God allow people like these be part of the heavenly choir.l like that.

I wish that this this Zairian rumba should be played again because it was so sweet and full of art. What we dance today is just a junk no moral etc.
