It’s a lot more balanced in 1v1, technically grenadiers are the worst baseline inf in game so the mg42 is supposed to make up for it. But mg42 is slow to turn compared to maxim hecka fast turn, so flanks are better. But in 4v4 the “lane” is hella small so flanks are less of a problem. Axis is much better in 4v4 sadly, the most popular mode
It's hard to compare individual units without considering the rest of the army. Maxims don't have great stats but SOV team weapons in general are tanky because of 6-man, and even tankier when you consider than conscripts can merge into them. The Germans do have better heavies than what the Allies can field, but since Axis heavy TDs are doctrinal, a lot can come down to the commanders of each team.
Or another example, Katyusha vs Stukas, Stukas are way more accurate with this thin line of fire vs the wide round one of katyusha that can simply miss. btw, german vet 5 is equal to vet 3 of allies?
@@MrHellboy112 Stuka's base barrage is better than the Katyusha, but it's also more expensive and requires dedicated sidetech into mechanized. In 4v4 the sidetech isn't a problem but you will almost never see it in 1v1. Katyusha is squishier but the time between the sound of rockets and the rockets landing is the shortest, and with the creeping barrage it's basically a walking stuka with more range. OKW vet 5 is harder to get than allied vet 3.
