@karen Please refer to Matt 3:11 Acts 1:5,8 Luke 12:49,50 When Yahawashi/jesus referred to baptism in this scripture was it referring to water? Baptism is symbolic of cleansing of the inner being. We can’t cheat our way into the kingdom of heaven. So many have had the water baptism but expressed no change in character proving it is not the water that has the power. In reading you will also notice that Yahawashi/jesus did not baptise any. You have to wonder why and when He Himself did so to fulfill what scripture had said about John the Baptist He said let it be so for now. Matt11:12. The bible is not as straightforward a book as it seems. It has to be studied. Please read some of the other comments. They may help to give you more insight. Ephesians 5:26, the WORD of the Most High is the water and spirit referenced in John 3. If you are depending on physical water for cleansing of SINS AND SALVATION then you are in trouble. Physical water can not wash away sin. You go into the water as a dry sinner and come out as a wet sinner. Where is the spiritual transformation in that? Do you think it is possible for a person to be born again, while they are being baptized in water? I believe this is what happened to me. Even if it is not necessary to be water baptized, I believe God communicated to my spirit, as I was being lowered under the water and seeing, in the spirit, beautiful blue water folding over my face, that my old self was dying and when I came up out of the water that the first breath was my first breath as a new creation. @karen Please refer to Matt 3:11 Acts 1:5,8 Luke 12:49,50 When Yahawashi/jesus referred to baptism in this scripture was it referring to water? Baptism is symbolic of cleansing of the inner being. We can’t cheat our way into the kingdom of heaven. So many have had the water baptism but expressed no change in character proving it is not the water that has the power. In reading you will also notice that Yahawashi/jesus did not baptise any. You have to wonder why and when He Himself did so to fulfill what scripture had said about John the Baptist He said let it be so for now. Matt11:12. The bible is not as straightforward a book as it seems. It has to be studied. Please read some of the other comments. They may help to give you more insight. Ephesians 5:26, the WORD of the Most High is the water and spirit referenced in John 3. If you are depending on physical water for cleansing of SINS AND SALVATION then you are in trouble. Physical water can not wash away sin. You go into the water as a dry sinner and come out as a wet sinner. Where is the spiritual transformation in that? How come they still did this water baptism of the flesh if the one baptism that you claim is the baptism of the spirit?

Do you think it is possible for a person to be born again, while they are being baptized in water? I believe this is what happened to me. Even if it is not necessary to be water baptized, I believe God communicated to my spirit, as I was being lowered under the water and seeing, in the spirit, beautiful blue water folding over my face, that my old self was dying and when I came up out of the water that the first breath was my first breath as a new creation. It was a profound experience that left me walking around smiling, giggling and joyfully thanking the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for the remainder of the day. Many others have tried to discourage me, saying I could not have been born again, while being water baptized. When I read John 3:5 by Jerusalem Bible says, "Yeshua answered. "Yes indeed, I tell you that unless a person is born from water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be *born again*, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
What does born again mean?
Matthew 18:3
Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
So born again means being converted. How do you get converted?
Psalm 19:7
The law of the Lord is perfect, *converting* the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making *wise* the simple.

God's law converts the soul and makes you "born again". Let's expand that a little more.
John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be *born of water* and *of the Spirit*, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
The three statements of Jesus above are saying the same thing. Obviously then, being "born of water and of the Spirit" means being converted and born again. Does being born of water mean water baptism? No. As we have seen, being converted or born again has to do with keeping the law and there is no law for water baptism. That simply means that water baptism is not for conversion. The purpose is for repentance and remission of past sins through the blood of Jesus.
Mark 1:4
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of *repentance for the remission of sins*
Romans 3:25
whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the *remission of sins that are past* through the forbearance of God;
Being baptized doesn't mean that you have changed. It just means that God has forgiven you of your past. Your future is what determines if you have changed.
So what does *born of water mean*?
Ephesians 5:25-26
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the called out assembly, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the *WASHING OF THE WATER BY THE WORD*
You get born of the water *by the word.* The living water.
So how do you get born of the spirit?
Acts 7:51, 53
Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always *resist the Holy Ghost*: as your fathers did , so do ye. who have *received the law* by the disposition of angels, and *HAVE NOT KEPT IT*
So you resist the spirit by not keeping the law. Then that means that you welcome the spirit when you keep the law/word of God.
Why does the spirit come when you keep the law? Because you are undefiled and clean.
Deuteronomy 23:14
for the Lord thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp... therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.
The spirit does not dwell in an unclean temple. It has to be spotless and cleansed.
Psalm 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto *according to thy word.*
So what happens when you are born of the spirit?
1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God *doth not commit sin;* for his seed remaineth in him: and he *cannot sin*, because he is born of God.
Hmmm. How does that tie back to the law?
Psalm 119:11
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that *I might not sin against thee*.

So you see, you are born of the spirit by the word and born of the water by the word. The word is what cleanses your future. John's baptism cleanses your past.
John 15:3
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Isaiah 1:16
Wash ye, make you clean; put away the *evil of your doings* _ie trasgressing the law_, from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

Sanctify (cleanse/make holy) them through thy truth: *thy word/law/Torah is truth*.
