Hello everyone! As one of my subscribers pointed out, there is some confusion around black/white as options for women with very pale or dark skin, freckles, red hair, super light blonde hair etc. and what you should do in regards to my suggestions. At this point, I have not made a video publicly about color theory and my opinions on it - but I am planning on doing one once I am ready. In the meantime, if you find that black or white washes you out or over powers you - here are a few suggestions that I myself use (I have very pale skin and freckles off-camera - but you really can't tell!): (I am not going to list out every combination of hair/skin here - I'm just sharing what I do specifically on myself) - If you wear makeup, adding in a touch of bronzer or a slightly darker foundation while wearing black/white (I do this all the time) - If you have pale skin / dark hair - wear your hair DOWN while wearing black/white so that your hair frames your face (this really helps) - If black or white (and shades of black or white - dark charcoal, cream, etc.) really do not look good on you: - Stick to black and white items for bottoms (pants, skirts, etc.) and for tops, go with the darkest/lightest shade that looks good on you. - The best way (in my own experience) to figure out what looks best on you is really just trial-and-error. There are hundreds of ways to "test" this out but nothing is as good as simply spending the time trying out colors in different lights (day vs. night) and shades (darker tones, lighter tones, etc.) and seeing what they look like on. I hope this helps! Xo, R.
I never would have thought about a body suit 😱 I wear a lot of my shirts tucked in and they always bunch up at the top and have a little more of a casual/messy look
Info here is correct. I am now 58 and continue to try to look effortlessly classic. I will tell you though; wow, it is very hard post menopause. Middle age tummy, hot flashes and frequent bathroom trips kill the body suit idea. Long sleeves can be rough but the batwings are real. So short sleeves bring sadness too. Blazers are a godsend. But not when hot. Enjoy your easy and pretty years all; boy it sure changes later. ❤
Hi Rachel I'm from India 🇮🇳. you are awesome.. finally I find someone whose all tips are practical and comfortable . The world is trying hard to look sexy and the lazy person like me can only look presentable , sophisticated in my comfort zone with minimal accessories and stuff in less time. Thank you for sharing these basics.
Wow... You are the FIRST influencer that talks about cashmere that does not harm the goats or make them suffer for our benefit! I did not even know this existed, the SFA (was that the name...🤔). Anyway, I never buy cashmere, solely for that reason. Now I know what to look for, I will definitely have a look where this cashmere clothing is sold. Thank you! 🙏
Shearing is not harmful to sheep or goats. In many cases it helps prevent them for getting matted and moldy. As for living conditions that depends on the farm.
Please please please educate yourself (from people who have spent time caring for goats - not people who have visited a farm once) about animal products, every animal fibre that I know of benefits the animal to use it and HARMS the animal to leave it on - our culture has become so insulated from the realities of nature that somehow shearing and caring for farm animals is now seen as abuse. And yes I've owned Cashmere goats (they're super cute, smart and sassy and get hot if not shorn in the summer time) The vast majority of farming is done in a highly ethical way, farmers just don't scream about it all the time and they're much more interested than being outdoors looking after those animals than sitting online, trying to convince ignorant people that they do this. Plus from an environmental standpoint synthetic fibres are literally the worst thing ever!
Lovely job Rachel!! I love that you say to buy styles that look good on your personal body type rather than following trends...I think deep down inside we would all rather feel beautiful than trendy but we are afraid of feeling outdated...so last year...etc...Confidence is so beautiful!!!😘
Pima cotton also has a beautiful drape and very slight sheen. I only wear natural fibers, plus I love viscose/rayon/lyocell. It might be man-made, but it’s not synthetic (plastic); it is made from plant fibers, not petrochemicals, and has similar properties to the natural fiber fabrics.
I’m gonna have to grab a few bodysuits. I have that issue with a lot of my outfits with shirts pulling up from my skirts or pants at work. Edit: thank you for the information on rise for jeans! That’s like mind blowing. Lol!!!
Great video! Another tip with the black and white jeans - You can balance your body out (because white will make things look bigger and black will make things look smaller). So if you are for example a inverted triangle, black will make your hips look even narrower, white will make your hips look wider.
Thank you for sharing your ideas and experiences. Silently here since early 2018. Rewatching your videos from time to time to recap on what and how to shop sensibly. Thanks 🌷
Can you do a video on what to wear for a job interview. Such as a real estate agent for Model homes? It seems like they wear a lot of dresses and skirts.
Hi Rachel. I enjoy your videos very much. Would you be willing to post links to the 7 pieces your described so I can find an example that closely matches your description? Look forward to your next video and stay safe!
Love high rise, its so comfortable but I have longer legs and having too much space in that area doesn't enfasize in the right way my bottom (long legs but I have a long back, nice but tricky). So I always go for a mid rise which balances out the proportions 😊 I have a question: super skinny black jeans make me look bigger, they do not slim me down (this happens only with super stretchy jeans, with trousers no). How is it?
You’re probably an hourglass shape or maybe a pear shape . This means you have curves so even if you’re slim your curves are emphasized with skinny jeans because they make your hips look wider compared to how skinny your ankles are. Looking curvier is great in my opinion. Sometimes I switch things up by wearing straight leg jeans they make me look taller and slimmer.
Hi! I’m a new follower! I love your content. I wish you had linked some of the items.....especially the bodysuits....they are not easy to find....the good ones I think
The only occasion where I have ever worn my LBD in the five years since buying it was a funeral... I guess it's not a basic for me :D Black isn't really my color anyways, I usually wear navy instead. (I do have a few black pieces though because I love the way it looks with camel or leopard. And for funerals.) By the way, how do body suits work for your long torso? I also have a long torso and I find that body suits that fit me in the T-shirt portion are never long enough. They are so stretched out that I always have very obvious visible panty lines.
I just purchased some from Gap and they fit my torso just fine! I noticed that they were longer than normal bodysuits tend to be. They also sell thong-style bodysuits that really help with the visible panty line issue!
@@TheRachelReview Thank you for your reply! I hope I can get the Gap ones in Europe without insane shipping costs (it looks like it might be a while until I can fly to the States again). Body suits are such a great tip, I don't know why I stopped wearing them after I grew out of diapers.
The black and white advice is killing me. I don't wear black very often, or white at all. I have a warm olive skin tone and look like death in white, and black is okay, but I usually prefer gray or tan neutrals. And my skin glows in jewel tones, so neutrals in general aren't very flattering. I also don't love wearing jeans because I find them uncomfortable, and prefer dresses. Wardrobe basics seem like they really need to be tailored to the person. Everyone is going to have different basics depending on so many factors: lifestyle, preference, skin tone, body type, etc.
I'm having a gmail account & it is showing to enter a valid email address...why????? I am NOT ABLE TO DOWNLOAD ☹ If anyone can HELP??????????? PLEASEEEEEE

I love your emphasis on high quality fabrics and ethically made cashmere! Thank you! 😊 Another great video!

I hope she will continue to upload more video like this. This channel is sooo UNDERRATED and a potential channel🥺✨

For short sleeves, buy elbow length. Duluth Trading had some nice ones.
Brittany Grillo Thanks so much for the Duluth recommendation. Talbot has a nice selection of “bat-wing proof” tees too.
I love pima/supima tees! Thanks for sharing more info behind that kind of cotton. They really are great quality 🙂

Such an informative video as usual Rachel - thank you for the hard work that went behind this 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸✨
Love your hair blonde! I miss my blonde color. I'm a brunette now :) this video was very informative 💖
Can you tell me where you bought your necklace from? Are these little pearls? It looks so beautiful and not chunky. Thank you for your useful video.
Lovely job Rachel!! I love that you say to buy styles that look good on your personal body type rather than following trends...I think deep down inside we would all rather feel beautiful than trendy but we are afraid of feeling outdated...so last year...etc...Confidence is so beautiful!!!😘
Rachel thank you for the great tips, don't forget to remind people they need to wear nude colored underwear i.e. Bra if they wear white blouses.

Edit: thank you for the information on rise for jeans! That’s like mind blowing. Lol!!!
It was mind-blowing for me when I first realized it too!! :)
Thank you for the explanation of high rise jeans/etc. I, too have a very long torso, and will NEVER wear any other rise again!
Great video! Another tip with the black and white jeans - You can balance your body out (because white will make things look bigger and black will make things look smaller). So if you are for example a inverted triangle, black will make your hips look even narrower, white will make your hips look wider.
I also appreciate that you talked about the threads!! 🙌🏻
You look stunning with the lighter hair color, for sure. It goes better with you skin tone!!😘
Thank you for sharing your ideas and experiences. Silently here since early 2018.
Rewatching your videos from time to time to recap on what and how to shop sensibly.
Thanks 🌷
You look stunning! I like your hair color, it suits you. :-)
I absolutely loved your video, as always! Whenever you warn us of a new post on your blog or of a new video, it just makes my day!

Can you do a video on what to wear for a job interview. Such as a real estate agent for Model homes? It seems like they wear a lot of dresses and skirts.
Thank you for another great informative video 😊 How do we know what rise in jeans fits our body?
Thank you Rachel! Another great video! I really appreciate your advice!
Hi Rachael where did you get your prima cotton shirts. I absolutely love your videos. Thanks for you great job
Would love to see specifically which short and long sleeve shirts you selected and where you purchased.
Thanks for this. Btw I love the blonde on you
love the list, could we get just the listed item as well vs the description and photo please? Thank you!
I don't get what you mean. Isn't that the same thing
I meant without the graphics. Just the items listed. No pictures included. Sorry for the confusion
Cool
Great video! Thank you for the tips🌼

Great video! Thank you 😊
Hello! Can you do a list of places where you can buy clothing that will last a while. I need assistance with find some! Thanks a bunch! ❤️🙏🏽
I have a short torso so wearing a shirt tucked in is tricky if not impossible. And high rise jeans are a total no-no just like you said.
Great tips!!!!

Thank you:) never thought about it. I'll try out a pear shape option to see if it fits 😊
Great tips, however, I am a Soft-warm muted and subtle-blended Spring, I'm not supposed to wear black or white.

I have a long torso too! Finding one piece bathing suits is tough! Do you have any suggestions?
I still have problems figuring out which jeans or slacks look great on me. High rise or mid rise..I'm 5"6 and curvy..help!
What lipsticks are you wearing ?❤
Where can i find boatneck pieces? So hard to find in dresses or shirts!😮
I am allergic to cashmere and most “fluffy” winter sweater materials
. Do you have any suggestions of a similar look and feel in another material?
Would you recommend or link a good brand of the tshirt or the short sleeve t-shirt you wear in the video pkease💖💖🙏
Have u heard "Gobi"? Its Mongolian cashmere. Very quality. I have a lot of cashmere scarfs from Mongolia. I came from.

Can you please share places to shop at?
No blonde you are best in brunette
You missed the most important factor in choosing cashmere, it is graded, only buy certified grade A.
Wow, you look amazing in your natural brunette color hair in your 2021 videos that led me to your channel. This blonde color doesn’t do anything for you, IMHO.
Great video, thank YOU ❤❤
