Thanks for the video with great detail! I'm 50% finished at this point, and one BIG lesson learned in my process. You may NEED those "C" clips depending on the injectors you buy. We reinstalled w/o and the new "compatible" injectors and discovered they were like 1/16" shorter than stock, so w/o the clips the injectors would not seat into the intake manifold. Installing the clips locked the injectors in place on the fuel rail and provided that extra distance so they now seat into the intake.
BEST. VIDEO.EVER! Will be doing this on my 89 Corvette. The various Vette forums should definitely have this video, as the only one currently on them doesn't come close to the detail in this video. THANKS!
Thanks for the helpful video, I had done the whole process on my 88 GTA about 7 years ago, however I just did it again with the help of your vid on my 90 Formula, I forgot what a pain in the ass it is! :) hardest part for me was removing the fuel line bracket, that nut behind the lines is a pain, best advice is don't rush, take your time and organize everything you remove so it all goes back the same way. my fuel rail bolts came free easily but I took off both runners just to make it easier.
Great video. Getting ready to tackle this project on my 92 Trans Am convertible. I got a decent price for Bosch Gen 3 rebuilds with the spacers. The rebuild shop recommended installing the injectors first into the intake manifold for proper fitment, then installing the fuel rail. Grabbed a new EGR valve too since all these parts will be off. Clean looking motor btw.
Got the fuel rail off without removing the second intake runner, but it was tight as ****, had to use a wrench with a second one as an extension (no dice otherwise). Great video! :)
Hey bud! Love your vids. I learned through working on a lot of old cars, snowmobiles and junk, that if you actually try and turn the difficult bolt tighter until it just slightly creeks or moves, then hit it in the loosen direction. I'm a plumber by trade and it works there too.
Hello, thanks for your nice videos. A question about a Camaro -89 305 TPI engine, what brand of injectors do you recommend, want the best quality and link to companies that sell, don't want to come into contact with rogue sellers of which there are too many, thanks
Broken crampsman tools! Just an FYI the 10mm on your top “middle” plenum with the long arrow sticking out of it goes on the drivers side. It originally held a clip to hold your cruise control & throttle lines.
hey, ive been watchin alot of ur vids. i also have a thirdgen. i was wondering about the egr valve hook up, vaccume lines to sensor n the electral whire from the valve. could u help me out?
What problems were u having? I'm having warm start prob in my 88 gta, was thinking injectors leaking as it takes forever to get going after it sits a couple hours after driving. Seems like it's flooding I suspect leaking injectors
I never had that problem with the camaro, I did however have it with my chevy truck. I was having vapor lock issues where after driving for a while it didn't want to start until it was sitting for a while.
i did it a bit different some time ago. i disassembled the fuel rails instead of loosening the fuel lines. the injectors i bought didnt have an insertion for the clips. when i put the fuel rails back on i noticed the injectors had about 2mm play up and down, when i put pressure on the injectors it started leaking like shit. i had to align the injectors upwards into the fuel rails. the construction of the fuel rails is crappy anyways...
uguzg uzfgvuzjh if you have Bosch 3 style injectors than you must double the orings they now offer fuel injectors with a spacer so you don't have to double the orings from fic
I'm having a lot of trouble worth my 1985 z28 with fuel pressure I replaced my pump and the filter looks pretty new So i didn't replace that would it be my injectors?
I’m a fan of your channel and have to ask you a question. I have a 1988 iroc z28 350. The question that I have for you is what engine do you think I have? A L98? The reason why I ask is cause I’ve been a bit confused when I google the question. Thanks in advance!
Trying to replace my injectors on 91z28 but the groove doesn't go all the way around for the clip to lock in place. Does it have to be? Am I doing something wrong?
They stopped putting in cold start injectors with the 89 so my 89 didnt have one, but it should be on the fuel rail on the right side between the injectors
you're lucky! it's impossible to buy a new one, and finding a working one out of the junk yard is next to it. I'm running megasquirt now just because of my cold cranking issues. now the car is tuned to dump more fuel in through the 6 cylinders and it doesn't need the 7th.
Bosch injectors are a 100% better upgrade than rochester stock injectors, however if your going to upgrade id recomend an EV6 4 hole nozzle, you can even upgrade to EV14 with a connector adapter jetronic to uscar.. check our Bosch catalogue for information on flow rates / port type / holes per nozzle www.injectorplanet.com/collections/bosch-fuel-injectors/Bosch-EV6 awesome tutorial thank you -Bryan
What kind of symptoms were you having that prompted you to replace the injectors?
Excellent video man, don't know what we'd do without you!

Feel free to post on those forums, I posted this one on thirdgen.org but they are very strict on what is posted on there
You got it! I imagine the motors are the same (L98s). I have the factory Service Manual, but man-O-man, this video is priceless!

Nicely done J !! Very good attention to detail,...much appreciated.
I been looking forever for a video like this thank you for making it
Nice 👍 damn that’s a lot of work compared to a TBI injector swap.
Yeah that's why I put it off for so long, I didn't want to do all of that in the video
Wow I am inpressed with your video's they are so realistic and enjoyable to learn from

Stock is 22lb for 350 L98 TPI, FYI - if you upgraded beyond the stock size you need to have the PROM tuned to compensate for the new injector offset
Sakumi stock is 21 lbs most use 22 since 21 lbs ain't found offen
The top of the tpi injection system is called a plenum, then intake runners into the base manifold.
Got the fuel rail off without removing the second intake runner, but it was tight as ****, had to use a wrench with a second one as an extension (no dice otherwise). Great video! :)
I wonder if replacing all my injectors and maybe my fuel regulator on my 305 tpi will fix the problem I have:
Raw fuel pouring out my exhaust pipe

I have done that too, mostly by accident but your right it does work.
thanks
what primer did you use for your car? im sanding my car down to metal & dont really know what to use. thanks

I liked your 10mm story!
What brand of fuel injectors did you use? Multec were stock.
Im about to do the same. Thx a lot for the vid!!
When you disconnected the fuel lines, how much gasoline came out?
I just did it. Remove your gas cap first 🤦♂️. If you do that, not much at all.
Great vid!!
I took the runner completely off and remove the throttle body off to have easy access to get the fuel rail off
Nice vid! Thanks for the assist!
Did you have to map them, or did you just install the injectors themselves, and that was it?
Everything I did in the video is what I did, no mapping just the install.
Broken crampsman tools! Just an FYI the 10mm on your top “middle” plenum with the long arrow sticking out of it goes on the drivers side. It originally held a clip to hold your cruise control & throttle lines.
Yes, I figured this out a little while after I did the job.

yo man im having problems with my injectors there’s no power. what should i do? i have a 88 camaro
i changed the fuel pump and fuel filter
Hey are you in the Washington?? If so what part??
Just moved into renton
J Robling look up NW Thirdgens on Facebook. Then message Steve hagara and answer the questions to join! It's a pretty cool page!
Thanks for the vid. I'm out in Kent and got an 88 IROC. Thinking it needs injectors too.

Have you replaced the fuel filter? I did a video on that and mine was severely clogged
I’m a fan of your channel and have to ask you a question. I have a 1988 iroc z28 350. The question that I have for you is what engine do you think I have? A L98? The reason why I ask is cause I’ve been a bit confused when I google the question. Thanks in advance!
1896 they started making the l98 in the iroc. If you have an 1988 automatic z28 iroc 350 it should be L98
Mine is 88 with the 350 (5.7L) L98, Auto
J Robling thanks
@@JRobling read 8th digit in the Vin if it's a number 8 it's l98 if it's e then it's lb9 305 f is tbi 305
Trying to replace my injectors on 91z28 but the groove doesn't go all the way around for the clip to lock in place. Does it have to be? Am I doing something wrong?
Mine had both the grove that went all the way around and the one that had the notch in it. I chose not to reuse the clips, they aren't needed
What's that clip called at 1:45? Mine is gone
At 6:53 what was the sensor/mechanism that you disconnected the wire harness from?
Air temp sensor I believe
J Robling thanks again
how about a video where to find a cold start injector?!?
They stopped putting in cold start injectors with the 89 so my 89 didnt have one, but it should be on the fuel rail on the right side between the injectors
