    Peter Jackson could direct and write a great Jurassic Park or World movie if given the chance. The dinosaur scenes he made for King Kong and a lot of the adaptation work from The Lord of the Rings could make for a solid film based on the Michael Crichton source material in my opinion.

    Guillermo del Toro would be an excellent choice to direct any future movies in the Jurassic Park series.
    First, del Toro is an incredibly talented and experienced filmmaker with a strong track record of success. He has directed a number of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, including The Shape of Water, Pan's Labyrinth, and Hellboy, demonstrating his ability to tell compelling stories and create immersive and visually stunning worlds.
    In addition to his technical skills and creative vision, del Toro is also a huge fan of the Jurassic Park series and has expressed a desire to direct a film in the franchise. His passion and enthusiasm for the material would no doubt translate into a powerful and heartfelt homage to the original films.
    Furthermore, del Toro has a knack for blending action, horror, and drama in a way that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant. This would be a valuable asset in a Jurassic Park movie, as the franchise is known for its action-packed set pieces and intense thrills, but also has a strong emotional core centered on themes of science, ethics, and the dangers of playing God.

      Came straight to the comments to suggest this! He's also knows when to bring his love for practical effects to the table and while also being able to compromise to CGI. I imagine he could tell a new artful story to contrast with the schlocky plots of JW. Not like he can't also make schlocky plots; see Pacific Rim.

    • @NathanielTavington
      @NathanielTavington Год назад +3

      While I agree with the sentiment, I don't think the Jurassic franchise would genuinely have any appeal for Del Toro. Not to say that the Jurassic Franchise is realistic, it is still more "real" than what he tends to be drawn to, story-wise. He likes the weird, the fantastical, the eldritch. That being said... the instant his name is attached to ANYTHING, I watch it. He's the reason I played Death Stranding (no regrets either). So if he ever did get drawn into the Jurassic Franchise, I would watch the crap out of it.

    • @Rodrigo_Vega
      @Rodrigo_Vega Год назад +2

      @@JBrotsis1 While that _is_ true, I think he usually wields enough respect for the monsters he tackles to understand "what they are about". He'd do his homework, he'd know how much effort the original movies placed into making the dinosaurs feel like real life-like animals. He might even use that creativity to re-invent the dinosaurs' visual according to the latest science while making them look like cool movie creatures, or come up with a few mutants or hybrids (seen in the books and JW) that don't... suck.

There's little things, like the compy/little girl scene that ended up opening JP2, Hammond's death at the end, and finding out the dinos were breeding by watching the tracker number go up, but a lot of that was either just changed to translate to screen better or cut for time. I think he could make a great movie, but it's more based on the script that he is given to work with. The biggest issue I have had with the Jurassic movies, the sequels in particular, is the storyline and dialogue not being great. Could they find something interesting and unique without being overly complicated or preachy. If not, then it doesn't matter how talented Peter Jackson is at directing.

    I think he could do a good job, he certainly has a knack for world building. My only concern would be that he would go down the LOTR & King Kong 2005 road and end up making like a 4 hour long movie filled with a fair bit of stuff that could, arguably, have been cut without impacting the story or experience much. I still think his Kong movie has the best interpretation of Skull island, as a kind of horrible, fetid house of horrors. I think he would do a great job at adapting the Lost World novel, especially when it comes to the imagery of things like the raptor nesting site, the dinosaur graveyard and the Carnotaurus workers village scene.

    My God, Dominion really broke the Jurassic spell on Klayton. It's kind of sad hearing him talk about the World movies now, he's truly disappointed.
    I feel bad for him. He was always enthusiastic and positive (but still reasonable and fair) about the franchise. Not saying that he's not longer that way, just feeling like his enthusiasm for the future of the franchise is gone.
    I think that Klayton and other fans of our generation just want to feel The Lost World for the first time all over again. I understand that it's the most special one in their hearts and minds, but and I don't think that's possible. Looking at the past is not the way to carry on with this story in my eyes. Just my own sentiments and thoughts.
    As for the subject of this video. It would be a strange career move for Peter Jackson if he does a Jurassic sequel at this point.
    It doesn't make much sense in my mind. He's amazing and I admire him a lot, but I don't see him doing something like that.

    I think having Peter Jackson working for the Jurassic franchise is an amazing idea. I feel as if the new Jurassic world movies were losing the reason and purpose of why the franchise was made in the first place. The point of the movies was to show a pressuring action movie for survival against dinosaurs from "a big mistake" but in the new movies the dinosaurs seem to lose their strength and power as they are now controled with mind security devices where originally they portrayed that they can't be controlled and crush over every boundary. If they decide to make another movie they should center it around isla Sorna as an action movie about when the storm hit the genetic facility there and how they released the dinosaurs which of course ends in a deadly situation.

    I think I would like to see Peter Jackson do a dinosaur film that is BETTER than Jurassic Park. Something that follows a similar story line in the sense that various dinosaurs interact with humans. BUT! I REALLY want to see them portrayed as actual scientifically accurate animals. No more turning them into monsters. The REAL villians would be the humans. No excessive violence or language or even sexual content. A move that brings back the wonder of dinosaurs - as well as the very real danger they could present. But like you say, characterization and story would be CRUCIAL. But Peter is a story teller and he's conscious of those aspects you mentioned. I myself enjoyed the Kong film when it came out - minus the language.

    To be fair, the LOTR Trilogy had a well planed 2 year preproduction phase while on the Hobbit, Jackson had less than a year to sort things out after Del Toro left the project. While producing the first movie, the studio decided that they want it to be a trilogy instead of 2 movies and Jackson had to go to the hospital for several weeks. The Hobbit's production was a hell of a mess, and I think people give Jackson way too much shit for the movies. Yes, they're not half as good as the LOTR trilogy, but given the context of the production, he still delivered where others would have failed.

    What I would want the most from Peter Jackson directing a JP movie is the horror to be brought back to the dinosaurs. In King Kong he showed members of the search party dying in morbid and horrifying ways and we should see that in more JP movies like in the first movie and Lost World, we should be fearful of the dinosaurs when they do show up not always in amazement or awe of them. That goes both for herbivores and carnivores and maybe throw in a scene like in the first movie for the Ray Arnold scene they were planning where Ellie would come across his body and see how eviscerated it was after the Raptor got to him, scenes like that to show how dangerous these animals can be

    Peter Jackson would be PERFECT for the Jurassic park franchise. The last film fell flat real hard because of they stripped down the terror effect of dinosaurs and made them comparable to animals kept in zoos who the audience should sympathise with.
    PJ's King Kong was a gem of a film and it is still that rendition of Skull Island that is the most terrifying. The horrors of that island, from the dinosaurs, the overall aesthetic of the place , the bugs and all the other monsters was what sold me on this Idea.

    Peter Jackson would definitely make the effort to make a Jurrassic Park/World the fans would love since he is one too. I feel that it's a bit of a bigger risk for him to direct one though BECAUSE he's such a fan.
    I'd say another great prospect for the franchise would be Guillermo Del Toro for his focus on creature features, practical effects, and his work on films like Pacific Rim.
    Honorable mention that would be super experimental and would never actually happen would be Michael Lantieri who does special effects for all the big block buster films including jurassic park/world. He directed the creature feature Komodo (Covered on dragon curve) and even if it's scaled down, if Lantieri had a shot I think it would work better than the juggernaut flops we've been getting so far.
