The 0-Coast goes strong through the years. I've started my modular adventure with it and it's still in my system controlling all kinds of things. It's a joy of experimentation and there's so much depth to it! 3 years on and I'm still finding crazy sounds in there hidden somewhere in the endless patching possibilities. Glad to see it included here!
I'm actually more interessted in the synth on the back shelfs. There's some kind of MFB synth under the OB-6, memotron, 0-coast, SE-1X, vermona 14, 2 pocket operators and some synth i can't say for sure. Other times, u can see a lyra 8.
Make Noise O-Coast. My first module... I am soooooo hooked, more so than cigarettes, more so than alcohol, more so than opiates, but maybe not coffee...
I must say that (thanks to Thomann) I spent quite a number of nights with my MicroFreak plugged to a 0-Coast... adding to the mix a Crave, a Stylophone Gen-R8 and a Pittsburgh Modular Microvolt 3900... Those are in my personal top 10 of recent machines (adding to them the Neutron, Erica Synth PicoSystem III and to drive it all the amazing little Theremon by Groovesizer (a small DIY Theremin using D-beam leds (like 2 Roland Gaia's) in guise of virtual antennas...). Makes that a top-8, tho. But it is because I'm still waiting for my Korg NTS-1 and of course, Uli's Poly D :-)) PS: living half of the year in Putney, I'll confess that I'm waiting for a reboot and/or clone of the AKS or the VCS3... Who's gonna be the first then, Behringer of Erica Synth???
I just wish the MicroFreak would have added a delay or reverb. As it is still works great as a part generator, though it needs some effects to truly shine.
What's great about the Microfreak is the amount of Synth you get for your money. Add whatever effects you like in time when you can, even a cheap guitar pedal which won't break the bank //Jason
I wished you replaced the Factory presets on the Microfreak with one of the new patches from Arturia.... but may it as it be ... the MF is a must have for ppl who improvision like me ... the Sequencer is far away from others in this price range .... its a kind of organic.
I don't know why people are freaking out about your arm movements. Not a big deal, people are acting real pretentious complaining about somebody's body language that isn't a big deal at all. The only valid complaint I have on this video is that some of these synths are not 2019 releases, and there were plenty to choose from this year that were great. Hydrasynth and Minilogue XD come to mind, but hey at least they've been covered on the channel!
@@ThomannSynthesizers True, but by that logic couldn't you include the Minimoog because it still sounds good today? I like the 0-coast but I think a "top ___ of 2019" video should keep to things released in 2019. Still liked the video, even though I'm more interested in the synths in the background (MFB Dominion club? Now that's uncommon)
Finally got around to watching the Top 5 video (I just found the channel earlier today). Is there a better drum machine for around $150 than the Korg Volca Drum? I'm not sure. Even considering used options I think I like it better than anything even close in price. I'm definitely grabbing a Microfreak as well. Been wanting one since they were released, and since Amazon has it for $250 right now it's a no-brainer. By the way, great video, I really enjoy your presentation style.
This is pathetic nonsense! The top five synthsizers of 2019 are without doubt: Roland Jupiter Xm, Roland Jupiter Xm, Roland Jupiter Xm, Roland Jupiter Xm and: Roland Jupiter Xm!
Hope you're ok with some constructive crit - I had to stop watching this video because of the constant arm-flailing and rocking back to front to side like a nutter. Perhaps the director told you to deliver the text with "more energy"? If the content is not interesting enough, no amount of extra physicality is gonna save it. And if it is, you dont need the flailing.

Looking good my friend! :)
Thanks buddy! //Jason
Hop Bunny Hop! Only the black keys!
Door bell was great! And I love they antique lock on the table!
Thanks.. The lock opens up the secrets of synthesis //Jason
Minilogue XD isnt on the list... I'm so sad
Choosing 5 was tough! It made it into the top 6....//Jason
That was my first choice, too. It's why I own one now.
@Andrew Mwah Awesome. I can't get the module right now since I got my eye on the new Modal offering. Seems like a fine companion for the xd. :D
@@EzyoMusic as soon as I make space in my studio I too will own one! //Jason
Picked the Microfreak over an XD. Oooookaaay.
Funny to find the 0-Coast on a list of top 2019 synths. It came out in 2016....
You're not wrong... But it sounds just as good today as it did then! /Jason
@@ThomannSynthesizers by that logic you could have included any synth you think sounds good ;)
This dude gets to the "meat" of the Behringer Odyssey! No just the sequenced appregiator stuff!
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks- such a cool synth with rich history! I can't imagine music without this synth //Jason
Minilogue XD def should have been on the list.

MFB Dominion Club! 0coast is in the top 5 😜.. we like to have nice synths in the studio #blessed //Jason

Glass half-full perspective: It leaves the door open for a deluxe version- maybe with 8 voices?

I just dropped a Zoom pedal after it. Problem solved.
@@Imetalman2000 I've also had mine going through my MS70CDR... MASSIVE! //Jason
@@TheParanoidAndroid79 I'm thinking that could be the MiniFreak , here's hoping it's not years and years away
Excellent video. Thx.
no Minilogue XD, no Behringer TD-3 :(
For a cheaper o coast with a sequencer I recommend korg volca mini modular
Lunchtime means tasty tones von den ersten fünf 🤘🏽
Moog Rules 🤘🏽

Ooh I'll have to check that out! Thanks for the tip .. I love my Microfreak.. // Jason
From your demo I like the O-coast Make Noise. It looks like a way into modular for someone new to this type of synth.
Thanks! It's a crazy bit of kit and lots of, especially when you start patching. //Jason
4:02 I do have something that does exactly that (and then some).
it's called mutable instruments plaits (the microfreak uses the plaits synth engine)
Cool
Arturia took for free the algorythm of Plaits, as Mutable Instruments founder has decided to offer his work for free.

I'm thinkin' the sweater rocks more than the synths. Well...maybe. I do really like the MicroFreak quite a bit. : )
Hahaha thanks! Everyone needs a good Christmas jumper.. or two! //Jason
No mention of Korg Minilouge XD !!!! Shame!
I'm a big fan of that synth. It's really tough having to pick just 5.. I did give it a special mention but it didn't make it . //Jason
Didn’t the 0-Coast come out before 2019 though? Pretty sure I had it in 2018.
It's the ROLAND badge that does it for me.
Yay! Someone recognized him, what a legend... I'll be bringing more badges to future videos.. keep your eyes peeled! //Jason

If you had to compare the Odyssey to the deepmind 12, which one would you say is better?
Honestly, they are so different.. I own a deepmind 12 and would happily buy the Odyssey to compliment it.. //Jason
Deepmind 12 for lush pads, Odyssey for screaming leads and fat bass.
What are that lock and key for?
Opening the doors of Creation! 😜//Jason
