- This Chow Chow pup tries to spook everyone she meets. Well, we're sure "shaking in our boots"! Matilda was found as a stray roaming the streets of Chicago, hungry and dirty. People were scared of her, as Chow Chows have a bad rap. But that's when a lovely woman named Sara found out about Matilda and fell head over heels! Together they prove that these dogs are sugar sweet!

Have you ever met a Chow Chow? And if so, how did it go?🐶
I had a chow chow mix when i was a baby. Nice dog from what I've been told it's name was Nike. Dad gave it up to the shelter but he regrets that choice
I have! Was the biggest love bug!
Met a few Chows. And all very nice. But ,,hey ,,ya name a Dog even a Chow "Matilda" ? Like that childrens book? One of our daughters favorite books? Uhhhm,,,not really scary, lol. Just saying.😅
@@twister1852Sad to read your father felt surrendering your pet to the shelter was necessary. But many dont know many surrenders are because a family has fallen on hard times/great financial difficulties. At least by surrendering not just tossing the dog (or cat.) Out on a road somewhere ,,your dog hopefully was rescued/Adopted. Our family donates to our Shelters Pet Food Pantry just for such reasons. To let folks low on $$ get FREE Pet Food. Rather than surrender a beloved pet. God Bless @twister1852.
Yes, my Gavin! He looks like a lion. I used to volunteer in a Shelter. One Saturday, I arrived with an empty cage- somebody adopted him. I hope he's having a wonderful life. I miss him so much.
I've been blessed with 4 wonderful Chow Chows in my nearly 70 years. If you socialize them starting at 12 weeks to interact with people and pets you will never have a more loyal and loving companion. Thank you for rescuing Matilda. Most people will not "save" a homeless Chow. You're a special person and Matilda is lucky to have you and your fiance in her life ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your sweet story🥰
Your comment really touched me. I appreciate your kind words, but she saved me 💜
I have never heard of or experienced a bad situation with a Chow Chow. I love them and their big old fluffy selves 😊
It's lovely to hear about your positive experiences with Chows! They're indeed known for their big, fluffy, and charming selves. Many people have had wonderful and heartwarming experiences with these beautiful dogs. It's a testament to their gentle and loving nature. 🐾❤️😊
My good girl was a Rottweiler Chow mix. She was friendly, super smart and trained to be a service dog for me. She was one of a kind. It took me several years to get over her. I did eventually open my heart again and now I have a hot mess goofball that's 5 years old and I'm looking to resuce a sibling or 2 to join our little pack.
Nothing better than the patter of paws to get you up and moving on the daily. It's hard to be depressed or fall into a pity party when you have someone else depending on you and giving you unconditional love. ❤🐾🐾💖
That's so true! Like some say, a home without a dog is just a house❤️ But only when provided with love and care of course!
Matilda is so fluffy and cute, omgoodness. 😍
Thank you for giving her a loving furever home. ❤
Thank you for your sweet comment! ❤️🐾
Aww sweet Matilda🥰 I love Chow Chows and it's amazing to see the stereotypes about them proven wrong!
We are happy to spread positive messages about the animals❤️ Regardless of the breed, all dogs can be mean or loving. It's all in the environment and upbringing❤️
Lovely Matilda! She is amazingly beautiful. Hope you have many happy and healthy years with her to come 🫶
Thank you for your sweet comment! ❤️🐾
Matilda has the sweetest face. ❤
Agreed🥺
My neighbor, many yrs ago, had a gorgeous black Chow/Lab mix….Black Storm! He was soooo beautiful. But sadly their young son used to go after him w/his plastic bat. Of course it caused him to have a mean streak. But there was only 5 ppl who could play and walk him, and I was 1 of those 5! I loved that dog and he, me! ❤ It was such an honor to be one of his “peeps”!❤
It's heartwarming to hear about your special bond with Black Storm despite the challenges he faced. Dogs, regardless of breed, react to their environment and treatment. It's wonderful that you formed a trusted connection with him, and it's a testament to the impact of positive interactions and care. Your bond with Black Storm was truly special, and being part of his trusted circle is a beautiful honor. 🐾❤️🌟
@@lindaspringer5939 i have a black chow lab mix named pepper!!
I ❤ Chow Chow
Chows are such guard dogs to their property and owners.. they are working dogs they're loving. Too. They remind me of a teddy bear..
Indeed, Chows possess a remarkable combination of qualities. Their natural instinct to guard and protect their territory and loved ones is a testament to their working dog roots. Despite their protective nature, their loyalty and affection for their family members can be heartwarming, often earning them the comparison to teddy bears. It's the blend of these traits that makes Chows such unique and endearing companions. 🐾🐻❤️
Had a chow chow for 7 years, one of the greatest dogs ever❤❤❤
🐾❤️✨
I LOVE HER
She’s a beautiful fluff muffin
🐾❤️🌟
God bless you for saving & understanding her👍🙏💕
🐾🐕🧡
The only dogs I'd ever been around were Chows (as we called them) until I was ~16-17 years old. They were totally chill, even with three wild little kids running around trying to ride them as ponies, pulling ticks off of them. I even recall my siblings and I trying to figure out how hook one up to our Red Flyer wagon to try to get her to pull us around so we could play ambulance LOL. They never did anything but go along with the adventures.
I still have a picture somewhere that was taken my first day of Kindergarten. Our female Chow, named Underdog after the cartoon, had had puppies just the night before and I was holding one in each hand while their mom stood beside me proudly. One of those puppies, Shotgun, lived over 20 years and was my dad's best friend. They were gentle giants for sure.
Such beautiful memories!!
What a delightful and heartwarming story! Chows, often described as gentle giants, seem to have been wonderful companions during your childhood. Their calm and patient nature, especially with three adventurous kids, is truly remarkable. The memory of you holding Underdog's puppies on your first day of Kindergarten, and Shotgun becoming your dad's loyal companion for over two decades, is truly touching. Thank you for sharing these beautiful and precious memories of your special bond with these Chows! 🐾❤️✨
I have been so very fortunate to have had only the very best experiences with chows and I absolutely adore them 🥰❤️❤️ They have fascinated me since I was a little girl so I am pure joy when I meet one! Thank you for sharing your wonderful fur baby’s story!! ❤️❤️
That's wonderful to hear! Chows are truly remarkable dogs, and it's fantastic that you've had such positive and loving experiences with them. Your adoration for them since childhood is a testament to the enduring bond and fascination they can create. Thank you for your kind words and for appreciating these amazing fur babies. 🐾🐕❤️😊

Love the Chows.
Used to baby sit one when I was a kid.

Beautiful girl😻😻😻
🐾🌟🐕
I have had two. One was exactly like Matilda. Super well socialized by her breeder and just one of the sweetest. The other not so much with strangers but not OTT either.
My uncle had a black Chow named Persia. The worst thing she’d ever do would be to lick you to death with her purple tongue. Such a sweetheart!
Persia sounds like an absolute sweetheart! Chows, known for their distinctive purple tongues, often have gentle and loving personalities. It's heartwarming to hear about the affectionate nature of your uncle's Chow. A dog's loving licks can indeed be the best 'attack' they unleash! 🐾💜😊
She looks exactly like my boy, Whiskey. He is also the sweetest.
Best human!
Chows are very loving with the people they choose, however they can be territorial and a stranger will get bit if they cross the line.
Absolutely, Chows can indeed be very loyal and loving with those they form a bond with. Their protective nature and tendency to be wary of strangers can sometimes lead to territorial behavior. Proper socialization, training, and understanding their cues are crucial to prevent any potential issues. Like any breed, it's important to approach and interact with them respectfully to avoid misunderstandings or conflicts.
This is wholesome to watch. We love to see more content like this.
🥰❤️
Chows are too defensive. I had numerous stitches just from being in a friend's house. It just attacked me out of nowhere.
I'm truly sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. Aggressive behavior in any dog is a serious concern. It's essential to understand that individual dog behavior can vary and isn't characteristic of the entire breed. Responsible ownership, socialization, and training play a crucial role in a dog's behavior. I hope you received the care you needed after the incident.
It's obvious Matilda loves her big doggy.
When i seen " Is dat a ghost" i 💀 🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣✌🏼💯
God bless you for saving this doggy.

I have a lot of respect for the fact you take her needs into account as a double fur chow dog!!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗. The fact that you wear double layers to take her out in frigid temperatures and snowstorms tells us you deserve to have dogs. So many people deprive their dogs from going out more often especially during the winter months because they don't want to dress right. Dogs need Togo out no matter their size. Thank you for letting others know how important it is to consider their pets' needs. Many happinesses to your and your family!!!! 🧙💜💜💜🤗🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳 love and respect fromthe U.S.A.
Thank you for such a kind message! You really warmed my heart 💜
🐾❤️ Thank you so much for your kind words and recognition of the care Matilda needs. Your support and understanding mean a lot to us! Sending love and happiness back your way! 🌟🧡🐕🌨️🤗
Like # 999-1000 😮
All dogs is beautiful things on earth then.
🐾🐕🧡
Matilda is like "I fake it till I make it"
Bingo. 😂
I love her name!! ❤
🐾🐕❤️😊
OM DOG, she is the TWIN of my late heart dog, BOOFIE Coloring and appearance identical. She was the BEST for 17 years. OH I miss her, teared up to see this. Boofie slept in the patio, covered in snow. HATED to come inside.
Boofie sounds like the *best*! I’m glad Matilda could bring up some happy memories. I’m giving her a big hug right now in Boofie’s honor ❤️
I'm so sorry for your loss. Boofie sounds like a remarkable and beloved companion, with a unique personality and a special bond with you. It's heartwarming to see a dog that resembles your beloved heart dog, bringing back cherished memories. It's okay to feel emotional; the love for our furry friends never fades. 🐾❤️ Remembering them keeps their spirit alive in our hearts.
Cute scary bear❤😂

First pitt bulls then bully breeds then chow chows - human beings themselves are the most stereotypes 🤔🧐
You're absolutely right. Unfortunately, stereotypes about certain dog breeds like Pit Bulls, bully breeds, and even Chows have led to misconceptions and misunderstandings. It's important to understand that each dog is an individual, shaped by their upbringing and environment. Just like humans, dogs are diverse in their personalities and behaviors. Generalizations and stereotypes don't define the character of an entire breed, and it's essential to judge each dog based on their own merits and behavior rather than stereotypes. 🐾🌟🐕
@@CuddleBuddiesChannel it's really sad - you hurt these poor babies based on nothing but your own prejudice
Chows can be a hard breed to have, but as with any dog, if you socialize them well and train them, they will be perfect. I think most people who has gotten bitten by a chow, was probably their own fault for not knowing how to approach them.
You're absolutely right! Socialization and proper training are key for Chows, just as they are for any breed. Understanding a dog's body language and approaching them correctly plays a crucial role in building trust and rapport. Responsible ownership and a good understanding of a breed's characteristics go a long way in fostering a positive relationship between people and their pets. Thank you for highlighting this important aspect of responsible dog ownership! 🐾🐕🧡
❤👍👍🇦🇺
I am so tired of the "people crossing the street to avoid my dog" stories. If these people actually exist then they're probably masked and on their way to a fifteenth booster shot. They should be ignored and/or ridiculed. But please stop with this fixation on stereotyping animals, it's tiresome enough when I'm hearing about "scary" looking people who are actually total sweethearts. Your dog is either trained or untrained and will way more often than not get the appropriate reaction from people they meet. Give it a month or two and we'll start hearing about "Golden Retriever Privilege". Or is that already a thing?
They do exist I have some in my family
An awful lot of dog groomers refuse to take on Chow Chow clients... so there is a strong negative breed stereotype out there. Just because you are ignorant of something, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
Oh please!
The people are real. I have a neighbor who isn't masked or on her way to her 15th shot and she won't walk past my other neighbors house because he got a pit bull. Just because you haven't seen it, it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Maybe you should get out more and experience life in reality.
Dude what? Temperament is a real thing so no it’s not only about the training. Dogs have personalities, memories, trauma, etc jus like people & some breeds have the potential to be more aggressive than others, that is a fact. So no you shouldn’t ridicule someone who fears a particular animal or breed. If you’re pressed about it, help them to overcome the fear & see that not all animals of the same breed will be like that, but their fear is still valid.
I understand your frustration with stereotypes and the fixation on misconceptions about both animals and people. It's crucial to remember that a dog's behavior is often a reflection of their training and environment, not solely their breed. Stereotyping any living being, whether it's about dogs or people, can lead to misunderstandings. Each individual, whether dog or human, should be considered on their own merits rather than preconceived notions. Training, socialization, and responsible ownership play a pivotal role in a dog's behavior. It's important to focus on understanding and positive interactions.
