    Its corporate greed, plain and simple. There is gonna be a breaking point here soon. It's unsustainable.

    The Check and Go industry just angers me to no end because it just prays on the poor. But rope that are illegal and can’t have checking account relies on places likes these. The Government need to put restrictions on these places.

      I so agree! I worked for a payday loan company and it was the worst job ever. I tell people to never get a loan from these places because it is a trap. People would come in to get a loan to pay off a loan and reborrow. Some of my coworkers would fraudulently double a customers income so they could borrow a higher amount. These companies should be outlawed, but they use mortgage rules to get around regular banking rules. Crooks!

    Agree that we need to get ourselves out of debt. Don't let these companies sucker you into debt for their bottom lines. The rich are still getting richer, but we are still broke out here. There are only so many gig workers that can be supported by these apps. Pay down your debt, friends, and don't feed into the have-to-have-it and credit economy.

    I live in Minnesota. Our insane Minneapolis city council voted to raise rates on Uber/Lyft. They are both pulling out of the state 5/24.

    The gig economy is a band aid on the bigger problem of the lack of full time jobs that can actually support a family. At some point there will be too many side hustlers and not enough hustles to support us all.

    The guy that comes out here to our little town every day sit in the parking lot. It’s his job. I feel bad because he has no insurance just sitting there wasting away.Super disappointing to see
    Especially knowing where my husband works they need workers starting out at $25 an hour. I can’t work at that job because im needed at home. But these men that are working these gigs, they could go get a real real job today.

    When the Gig Economy begins to collapse it will start with the food delivery apps first. When we start hearing about DoorDash entering into dire financial straits that means the end is near.

    What do you think about the new independent contractor rules where 1099 will have to soon be w2?

    • @themidwestexpress
      @themidwestexpress  8 месяцев назад +2

      The new definition or clarification of independent contractors has some serious and potential issues. IDK where the cards will land.... but I am prepared for this.

    This isn't going to be a popular response, but I believe the best solution to the immigration problem is to improve conditions in the countries people are leaving, so they no longer feel the so desperate to leave. For what we spend and lose to immigration, the US could easily invest in those economies.

      Thanks for sharing. I think that has been done before. Unfortunately, the countries they are coming from have lots of political corruption. The money often gets diverted into the hands of the corrupt. I do appreciate the dialog and participation. 💯

      I agree in a way. Central American countries, Mexico, Venezuela need to be pressured to get their countries in order in terms of corruption, gangs, and cartels.

      They need to be less passive and take back their countries and install rule of law.. seems to be a lot of victim mentality in these countries and sometimes even look up to criminals and gangs as role models and heroes.. a lot of backwards thinking.

      Nations wealth heavily depended on the morality of its people... Yes, we are all flawed, but some cultures are worse than others.... Our current government has a belief steeped in Secular materialism, with wealth redistribution being the only solution tp all problems... The countries thst need fixing has the same socialistic beliefs they do... So to fix it is to admit their ideas don't work, and to admit people are more than meat popsicle....

      I agree. If the economy continues to get tougher though.... Americans are going to need those jobs. The pay disparity was the point. Thanks for commenting and taking the time to share.
