Reminds me of a rare movement I saw when I was in Brisbane a few days ago, both an NGR and an SMU / IMU coupled together. Even tho they were instead hauled by locomotives, it’s still a rare sight to witness. Nice video btw
Thing is right, at least what I've heard, there's actually nothing wrong with the Comeng trains, both EDI and Alstom trains to me appear to be working fine, why replace them.
It appears that the xtrapolis 2.0 will use the same numbering system as the HCMT. Xtrap 2 will distinguish itself from the hcmt by having the first digit be an 8 instead of a 9. Carriage numbers, however, are from 1 to 6, instead of 0-9 (with 4,5 & 6 being skipped) on the HCMT.
i have never in my life seen two full melbourne trains hooked up like that before. i dont know why this popped up on my facebook. i mean i actually had to change trains at newport daily for high school so i absolutely know this place but never seen any 3 or 6 car set towing anything, (usually a vline diesel) let alone 6 pulling 6 extra. it aint normal!
come to think of it with how close newport yaraville seddon spotswood are together that thing would almost cover a big stretch between those stations on its own!
Nothing better than the oldest Metro train shunting the Newest Metro train! Thanks for getting up that early so I didn’t have to, nice video mate ;)
big brother helping little brother how good is that
They are trains. No such thing as "brother".
Veteran EMU towing a newborn EMU.

Thats pretty awesome, the old and the new!
At 3:45, I thought we'd hear the XTrap 2.0 motors. But then I realised the pantographs were down 🥲
Nice train video!😊
I'm curious the sound of X'Trarpolis 2.0 accelerate.
I love this. Nice catch.
Magic😮
Yes... Magic 😮
Did you see this Straya?
I like that the new trains are permanent 6 and 7 (HCMT) car sets, instead of 2 x 3. Makes more sense.

Good to see comeng trains will have a future with shutting activities and moving tge track inspections vehicles
Why not use a plain old shunter ?
Its kinda hard to believe that the new metro train was a few years ago, but also hard to believe that comengs are getting scrapped

Wow
Lovely video!! However, is there any information on when the XT2 might start testing?
Makes for an interesting video but very inefficient, why couldn’t a simple diesel shunter loco be used instead.

Comeng Shunting an X-trap 2.0. This is a sign that Comengs are Doomed!!!!! 😅😅
It beggars belief that it takes a full 6 car set of Comeng to move a train where a simple electric loco would do the job easily.
Yea weird isn’t it
