    My favorite part of the arch is the ending the Toa Metru imbued with the strength and power guardians and they willingly give up (and their youth) to become guides and leaders.
    Their predecessors failed ,brought down by infighting betrayal greed and assassination Makuta had corrupted everything to the core so it shows the wisdom of Toa Likan his choice of new Toa showing a great strength and virtue. When the time came Vakama and team were willing surrender their elemental power to save the Matoran giving them a future.

    It's been 20 years? I still pretty vividly remember the launch. It felt like a whole new world. A deeper layer to the story I already loved.
    The Metru Nui arc got me into writing. Incredible.

      I know right, feels like someone used the Mask of Time to speed up the years, because it still feels like yesterday to me

    Honestly, I kind of headcanon that Vakama’s visions had two different sources. Some coming from Makuta Teridax to trick or mislead Vakama and his team into doing what he wanted (Such as the vision showing Lhikan at the beginning and his spirit star vision later on to convince Vakama that Lhikan was the heart of Metru Nui, diverting attention away from the matoran) and the rest coming from Mata Nui.

    • @heroranuva8295
      @heroranuva8295  5 месяцев назад

      Huh, that's super interesting, I never thought of Makuta providing visions before! Would add to the interesting dynamic they have since he thinks he's the one that made them Toa. Perhaps he thinks of himself as their Great Spirit

    Now that you tell the importance of time in the story, I think you forgot a crucial part that may explain the importance of the Vahi, which is Makuta's relationship with time. Teridax wanted to control time. He erased the Matoran's memories so he could control their past, and then he sent Mata Nui to sleep so he could control the future. The Vahi is therefore a tool for evil. That contrasts with the character development of the Toa, which is to accept time stoically.

    • @heroranuva8295
      @heroranuva8295  5 месяцев назад

      Very true, Makuta wanted to control all of time, both in the literal sense, and in the sense of taking away their history

    the most confusing part to me is that the matoran vakama "made" the legendary mask of time. he completed it as a toa but that's besides the point. I thought legendary kanohi were legendary because they always existed or were created by great beings.
    great video btw. one of the best pieces on bionicle I've seen

    • @heroranuva8295
      @heroranuva8295  5 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks! And I guess Vakama's just that good! Tho, well the more lore exploration is that legendary status is more about the power level of the mask than its origin, though the Great Beings did make the other two legendaries (life and creation). Legendary masks control fundamental forces of nature on a cosmic scale, and can affect the entire Matoran Universe. Vakama was able to make the mask of time because he used all six Great Disks to do it. The disks in Metru Nui had power levels to them, and the power level they had determined how strong a mask could be made from them. Normally, the strongest disks had a power level of 8, and those disks were used to make the masks Toa normally wear. But the Great Disks were level 9, the only level 9s in existence, so by combining all six together, Vakama was able to create a far far more powerful mask than he's ever been able to before.

    Great video dude, I love the deep dive you did into these characters❤🤎🤍💙💚🖤. Of how each character had their own expression is in the past, present or future. Out of all the Bionicle movies this one is my favorite, because it shows the beginning of how they (the matoran and Turaga) got to the island (Mata Nui).

    • @heroranuva8295
      @heroranuva8295  5 месяцев назад +1

      If you want to build it in under a minute you need to use your mask of time to speed up time around the Medic while he's got his medigun on. If you don't lose control and collapse the spacetime continuum, you can get it down to 22.3 seconds easy

    I remember the beginning of this arc, the Toa Metru were initially fighting some giant plant monster called the Morbuzahk before the Vahki, and there was no toy for it. Wonder if anyone else remembers that?

    • @Bionickpunk
      @Bionickpunk 5 месяцев назад +2

      They sold morbuzahk sponges as promo items.

    • @heroranuva8295
      @heroranuva8295  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yup I remember that! The Morbuzahk vines. Looking back, they probably did that storyline to give them time, because they had only released the Toa at that time, and the Vahki sets weren't distributed yet.

    Happy bionicle day! And nice video. :)
    I would like to ask you what if bionicle was based on melanesia instead of polynesian? Like of the environment was based on the flora and fauna of new calidonia with the geography based on the archipelago of fiji and with the vibe of papua new guinea or vanuatu for example.

    • @heroranuva8295
      @heroranuva8295  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks! And I'm honestly I'm not sure how that would turn out, since I'm not super familiar with the environment and cultures of Melanesia, but it could be interesting. Though, also Bionicle's inspiration from Polynesia most took the form of using Maori language names for things, rather than going very deep into the geography and culture of the actual region. It would be really cool if could be remade with a more attentive and respectful eye towards the culture it took inspiration from!

    I have an interesting idea for a video making the fantastic out of the mundane think about it basically the story about mystical heroes saving their God was inspired by someone thinking that pills that they did to help their health contain little warriors and the fact that the two legendary masks that we actually know of, we were created for a very normal reason mask of life was basically just something to jumpstart the robot and the mask of time was planned just to slow time because critical malfunctions and allow for timely repairs
